I've discovered i'm not very good at waiting for news. Term ends today. Has anyone heard back about second interviews yet or is it likely to be early January?

Hi Lonestar. Same boat. I thought it was December, maybe the non teaching staff works next week?

Nothing here either. Not sure what the hold up is given they have everything.

11Plus2022 · 10/12/2022 23:21

I had a look at last year’s thread. Interview invitations came out on 14th Dec last year. So there is a good chance the admissions staff could still be working next week

ttbn · 11/12/2022 08:54

@11Plus2022 fingers crossed! Thanks for that tip.

Justarrivedlondon · 12/12/2022 13:42

Does anyone know how many will be invited to 2nd interview and of these, what percentage would get an offer?

I've no real idea but...having looked through the other threads, some figures that came up were maybe 60-70 boys getting second interviews with, very roughly, a 50% chance of success? Apologies, i'm likely feeding you completely inaccurate stats and I guess, a lot would depend on exam performance and whether there were many boys with discrepancies/areas of weakness that need to be explored further - that's my understanding of why these interviews happen anyway.

Just received the invitation to the academic scholarship assessment. Does anyone know how many are normally invited and what the interview would be about? Also, what's the format of comprehension (story, poem etc?) and the composition (story, discursive etc)?

Lonestar123 · 12/12/2022 17:22

@Justarrivedlondon we got one too! Congrats to your son! No idea about the answers to any of your questions though - sorry. Just very relieved as I assume he has a place :)

congrats on the scholarship invitations - must be a great relief prior to Christmas 😊

11Plus2022 · 12/12/2022 19:40

@Justarrivedlondon @Lonestar123 well done! My DS sat the scholarship exam last year. IIRC there were around 15 to 20 who sat it. The comprehension I think included some longer questions (so not just 1 and 2 mark questions). I don’t remember too much about the rest. According to DS the interview was relatively short and friendly and DS found it fine. Overall he seemed to enjoy the assessment day.

psychofatty · 12/12/2022 21:55

Does an academic scholarship invite mean they’re definitely in? My DS got one today too for 11+.

ZXD713 · 12/12/2022 22:08

We also got the invitation email today. I assume it means a place will be offered.

ttbn · 13/12/2022 16:17

Well done to those with good news. Can I check if anyone waiting for 2025 entry has heard yet?

Rgsentry · 14/12/2022 05:33

We received a second interview email for English! Any idea what they expect ?

repatexpat · 16/12/2022 15:00

Hi, did you get communication through emails or letter, by post?

ZXD713 · 16/12/2022 18:14

Through emails.

elevenplusmum22 · 17/12/2022 00:13

Does anyone know who gets called back for the benefit of the doubt interviews. Are a big percentage cut without that second interview? Tia.

RGSGuildford · 17/12/2022 10:40

Congrats to all with invitations to the scholarship interviews for 11+!

Does anyone have any idea about what to do expect in an second interview for English?

repatexpat · 28/12/2022 21:09

Has anyone experienced or know of any such of RGS allowing to differ entry to year 9?

repatexpat · 28/12/2022 21:12

Spell check! I meant defer entry!

Winterbaby11 · 11/01/2023 14:58

Hello,

We asked if you could apply for 11+ but then if offered a place choose to defer until yr9 entry instead as we couldn’t make our minds up whether we’d like DS to stay at current prep school until end of yr 8 (partly depends on how many others are staying which we don’t know yet). We were told that they cannot accommodate any change to the entry point after the exam as all the available places, both for First Form in 2023 and for Third Form in 2025, will be offered in February 2023. We decided to apply for 13+ as a result.

Winterbaby11 · 11/01/2023 15:00

Does anyone know if 13+ applicants are also called back for benefit of the doubt interviews in Jan? Some old info seems to suggest that it was a different process with a call back for 12+ exams instead but I’m not sure if this is still the case as everything seems to be different since they started using ISEB.

ttbn · 11/01/2023 18:01

@Winterbaby11 yes I think 13+ can also be asked to have a second interview.

repatexpat · 11/01/2023 21:16

Thank you for that!! We all eagerly await!
