I've discovered i'm not very good at waiting for news. Term ends today. Has anyone heard back about second interviews yet or is it likely to be early January?

13+ for 2025 entry - second interviews were notified before Christmas (a number of parents from our school were wondering so I checked with the school). If your son hasn't been called for a second interview my understanding is that it's either a straight yes or a straight no. It's a long wait till 10th Feb...

Winterbaby11 · 12/01/2023 15:47

Thank you. That’s helpful. Feels like a very long wait to find out.

Seekingstressrelief · 12/01/2023 16:16

Yes it's painfully long. I'm trying not to obsess (but failing 😂)

crazymama123 · 16/01/2023 19:15

My stepson is about to start prepping for 11+ and is aiming for RGS. We’re looking for a tutor in the Surrey area who would be suitable. Does anyone have a recommendation they could PM me? Thanks!

Justarrivedlondon · 23/01/2023 17:27

For those that went last Thursday, how did your son find it?

Justarrivedlondon · 23/01/2023 17:35

Sorry, should be last Wednesday, Jan 18th.

Kew1 · 23/01/2023 20:28

Hi, I just thought I’d pop on here to say we were where you all are this time last year. I don’t know if this helps or not but looking back now, with all that I know, the entrance exams aren’t the be all and end all. I believe the school looks for a balanced intake of sporty/non sporty, state/independent, quirky, alpha etc etc. I think the exam pass mark is a threshold but it’s definitely not everything they take into account. I know, because my son think he flunked the exam but they still have him a place (which was all credit to the school from my perspective).

Like a state grammar they want to know the boys can cope but beyond that I think a lot will be out of your hands - not sure if that will make you feel better or worse!

Best of luck and I’m sure your boys will end up at the schools that will be best for them x

My son was there last Wednesday. He seemed pretty chilled about the whole thing but, based on his description, the English seemed a little intense! His school uses mainly Twinkl sheets to practice comprehension so it was an interesting step up :) Hope your son found it ok @Justarrivedlondon. All done now. Time to have a well earned break!

What a sensible and nice message Kew1, thank you. This will be useful to help kids feel a bit better if they don't get the offers they wanted. They all have their own strengths and it's partly down to luck of the draw I guess.

Hopefully everyone ends up happy with what they get!

Seekingstressrelief · 24/01/2023 13:05

And as the only feedback I've had from my son after every exam/ interview is "it was fine" I have no idea of how he's done anyway. All finished after this week thankfully!

Good luck to everyone.

Hi

Those boys who were offered a place at RGS what SAS scores did they get please?

Thank you

repatexpat · 06/02/2023 16:57

Are results out already? We are abroad - so is it through email or post?

Seekingstressrelief · 06/02/2023 20:01

We did Y6 pre-test for deferred entry in 2025 - results come out by email on Friday 10th.

repatexpat · 07/02/2023 16:46

On the website it said Thursday 9th Feb... by post. We live abroad ( our post takes a week - snail mail) so I'm hoping by email too -

Surreymom18 · 09/02/2023 15:30

Hi everyone
did anyone get their RGSG offers today? Do they communicate non-acceptance as well?
must admit I don’t have any hopes since my son did not get through any of the other schools we applied for.

ttbn · 09/02/2023 18:07

Nothing here yet and sadly our DS also seems to have tanked them all. Really worried and concerned about what the school has been doing all these years to prepare them. Fingers crossed something good comes soon for us all.

GuildfordMum77 · 09/02/2023 18:10

Posted today apparently. Deep breaths and fingers crossed for a speedy postal service…

Seekingstressrelief · 09/02/2023 18:42

Ah I thought they were emailing tomorrow? We’ve only heard from Epsom so far - all others tomorrow I think.

Good luck to everyone.

repatexpat · 09/02/2023 19:44

Good luck to all..!

Seekingstressrelief · 10/02/2023 10:57

Just got our letter (no email yet).

good luck to all. What a nerve wracking time this has been!

maniami · 10/02/2023 11:19

We had post but no letter received. We called the school and they were able to email their decision to us. Happy to say our son got in. I hope you all get the good news.

Rgsentry · 10/02/2023 12:14

still waiting for our post to arrive . Tempted to call the school but Can’t get myself to do it.
never been so stressed in my life😢

Lonestar123 · 10/02/2023 12:18

Post has been but no letter from RGS! You've got to love 1st class mail :)

I'm actually a bit bemused that they're only relying on postage given all the issues recently, and not also doing emails today. We have nothing here yet either

Lonestar123 · 10/02/2023 12:20

Based on our experience two years ago they follow up with an email in the afternoon...
