Anyone else have a DC sitting 11+ this Autumn?

If so, would you like to chat on a support thread?

DD is sitting her exam tomorrow.

Anyone else? Waiting for the results will be nail-biting.

Good luck to everyone for today

CreateAName123 · 14/10/2022 10:21

I wish I'd found this thread months ago. We don't get out results for another week and it's killing me (sleepless nights, headaches) I know what will be will be and nothing can be changed now....but it's so stressful.

It's so much worse that DC did a "fair banding" assessment and those results were back in less than a week. It's been 3 weeks since they did the 11+.
They did get the highest band in the fair banding and DC said they struggled with some whereas said 11+ was easier so hopefully that's a good sign.

Good luck everyone getting results today x

Coops1988 · 14/10/2022 11:23

Good luck to all those hearing today.

FlamingoSocks · 14/10/2022 11:33

It’s just amazing how many different systems there are and how many different ways to approach it. You’d sort of think it would all be evidence based abs standardised across the country!
Supposed to hear back for Tiffin on Monday but some mad part of me hopes/suspects it’s today! Got plan B sorted out now, nice local boys’ school that seems to be on the up and we should comfortably get in and DS very happy with it so all that’s left is to send in that CAF form once we get Tiffin results!

Aethelfleda · 14/10/2022 14:09

urgh, just want it over with!
Tidying up distraction?….

I just posted on the other thread - I've realised the postal strike yesterday might make results posted today delayed...

Does local post go first?!

I don't think local goes first unfortunately unless it's sent out first class. Even then with a strike yesterday I imagine there might be delays. Ours have been sent out second class today so I'm hoping they come Monday. My stomach is in huge knots already.

MagnaQuestion · 14/10/2022 14:28

Yup it's first class. I think I meant is it quicker if it's local. It made sense in my head! We're probably going to wait all day tomorrow and then Monday too!

So painful!

Aethelfleda · 14/10/2022 14:55

we all know it doesn’t alter the outcome, but sympathy to all those waiting!

Right that’s it, I’m cracking open the Wagon Wheels. <refils kettle>

Octoberfishing · 14/10/2022 15:27

Thinking of all the Bucks people in the final half hour countdown!

ElvenDreamer · 14/10/2022 15:39

Good luck all waiting!

Pipsquiggle · 14/10/2022 17:27

DS passed! He is very happy, as are we.

Some of his friends didn't quite get the marks which he is sad about

Good luck everyone

Well done! Bet you are so relieved Smile

MagnaQuestion · 14/10/2022 17:31

Well done Pipsquiggle!

ElvenDreamer · 14/10/2022 19:18

Great news @Pipsquiggle , does a pass automatically mean a place in your area?

@ElvenDreamer yes it does. They know how many places there are and base the pass rate on that.

Not necessarily your first choice (that will depend on distance)

ElvenDreamer · 14/10/2022 19:36

That at least means you can relax a bit now though, great news, well done to your DC.

Pink cider here 😂 my liver is going to take a hammering by the end of the weekend and might go on strike if the results aren't with us on Monday!

Aethelfleda · 14/10/2022 21:09

argh.
DS missed Bucks by one mark (120) and Slough by three. Slough appeals when you don’t qualify never work because they are so oversubscribed and you can’t appeal until March when all the places are gone with huge waiting lists of kids that did pass but didn’t get a space. So that’s out. we are 0.3 miles from the school DS really wanted.
His big sister is at our nearest Bucks school so may go for a selection review. one mark. thanks, all those exam tourists who took the Bucks exam for “practice” and pushed my DS’s mark down.

So sorry to hear that. How frustrating. It's so close that it's surely worth going to review if you can face it.

Pipsquiggle · 14/10/2022 21:21

@Aethelfleda sorry about that, do you think you'll appeal?

I wasn't aware of 'exam tourism' - everyone I knew that took both exams were in catchment for both areas

Coops1988 · 14/10/2022 21:38

Sorry to hear that. Hope the review works. We are in Gloucestershire and there are kids in grammar schools here sent from Bristol, Oxford etc.
