Anyone else have a DC sitting 11+ this Autumn?

If so, would you like to chat on a support thread?

DD is sitting her exam tomorrow.

Anyone else? Waiting for the results will be nail-biting.

Just looking in the Wirral section now to be nosey, the threads seem slightly different in style. In Essex there is a results thread and then an allocations thread every year. People use them to gauge probability on other years based on what they've seen in previous threads if you see what I mean.

Many thanks, @ElvenDreamer . No-one has posted on Wirral for about 6 months. Maybe no-one else has applied for the grammars, fingers crossed!😁

I also can't find my council's (Cheshire West and Chester) admissions portal anywhere, so I'm going to have to wait till the email, which is a shame as I'm out tonight so would have been awake to check at midnight anyway.

Good luck everyone!

Jellycats4life · 28/02/2023 21:23

Ugh I’m dreading this. So much riding on it. My daughter scored tantalisingly close to the school’s “guaranteed place” score, but not quite enough. Will she get a place tomorrow or will she languish on a waiting list that may or may not give her a place?

The alternative is the local comp, historically very well-regarded but considered to have gone down the tubes in recent years, with a dodgy headteacher and several years with no one at the helm.

I don’t want to check at midnight because I won’t sleep a wink, whatever the result. But I don’t want to give DD the news before school, especially if it’s not what we wanted.

FlamingoSocks · 01/03/2023 00:06

Todays the day!!
eadmissions is showing as offline at the mo, apparently our LA doesn’t update until 5pm anyway.

Dynamix · 01/03/2023 00:07

Just waited up but absolutely no change on our portal.

Pipsquiggle · 01/03/2023 00:24

Just looked on the portal. We got our 1st choice - phew. Hope you all get what you want x

Dynamix · 01/03/2023 00:58

First choice here too and it was a long shot with us being ooc. Good luck all those still waiting- this has felt like an incredibly long process!!

Brilliant news @Dynamix ! Us too 😁

Good luck to everyone else still waiting- is it too late/early for gin?

ElvenDreamer · 01/03/2023 06:08

That's great news @Dynamix and @MKDmumofflash ! Good news here too, 1st choice grammar offered, can't quite believe it and have had to check several times 😁

Absolutely fantastic!! I must admit I may have logged on and screenshot everything about 3 times Blush

ElvenDreamer · 01/03/2023 06:17

@Dynamix our results were on portal at midnight (was about 12.15 when I logged in) but I then couldn't sleep until I'd had an email saying the same thing which didn't arrive until 1ish, then was too wired to sleep! I remember last year not fully believing until the letter arrived to back it all up 🤣

CreateAName123 · 01/03/2023 07:30

First choice offer received. Everyone is happy in the house this morning.
DD is busy messaging all her friends to find out where they're going. Her only other friend to pass the exam has also got in to the same school so she's happy.

ElvenDreamer · 01/03/2023 07:32

Ah that's good news @CreateAName123 , nice she will have a friend too. My DD knew no one last year, DS may know someone but we're waiting to find out. Fingers crossed for all still waiting.

PalindromemordnilaP · 01/03/2023 09:13

Congratulations to all of those who got your first choice.

I don't know how you've held it together, waiting for so long.

I was anxious awaiting the offer and, the way our GS system works, we already knew that DD would get an offer based on her exam results. I can't imagine how nail biting it must be to know your DC has the 'right score' but be waiting to see whether they live close enough.

CreateAName123 · 01/03/2023 09:30

@PalindromemordnilaP I think I remember that your DC is the same area as mine.... And even though DC had a high enough rank it is nice to see it written down and confirmed.

PalindromemordnilaP · 01/03/2023 09:36

Definitely @CreateAName123

I kept worrying that I'd filled the form out wrong or something else would happen.

OP posts:
CreateAName123 · 01/03/2023 10:42

Haha the number of times I went back on to check everything was right and in the correct order. And had I spelt her name right, rechecking the exam letter making sure that was right just in case they couldn't match them.

Oh well panic over now we can relax.

(then I remember it's my eldest GCSE year next year and deciding on sixth form or college.... Though that will be a whole other thread 😆)

FlamingoSocks · 01/03/2023 11:11

We don’t even have a score! Sat the exam in November and that’s it….. nothing since…..

Maybetoofarsouth · 01/03/2023 12:53

DD hass been very cool about the whole thing, but admitted in Monday she wanted the grammar. And she got it! Delighted.

We weren't too far south after all. Good luck to those of you still waiting.

ElvenDreamer · 01/03/2023 13:08

@FlamingoSocks that's crazy, sounds like torture!
Congratulations DD of @Maybetoofarsouth !

Pearfacebananapoop · 01/03/2023 14:27

We got our first choice! Dudley went early at 10am instead of 2pm and the individual school emailed at 9.30. So relieved!

Raising a big 🥂 to all and hoping you sleep well tonight.

Aethelfleda · 01/03/2023 14:54

Thank goodness we have got the GS place!
DS will be the only one from his primary (saved by the sib rule we never realised was there until this year!) but he knows 2 or 3 others who will be going there too.

And to those with GcSE bigger sibs, yep that’s a whole new thread! My Dd2 just got a conditonal offer for sixth form at the same GS… I may yet have my three back together come September…

Well done all you with good news, I’m so synpathetic to anyone who hasn’t got their desired place (We have been there and I feel ya!)

Maybetoofarsouth · 01/03/2023 14:57

FlamingoSocks · 01/03/2023 11:11

That's odd. DD's result came by email in October. Did you chase it up?

FlamingoSocks · 01/03/2023 15:00

That’s not how it works @Maybetoofarsouth herenin my borough.

CreateAName123 · 01/03/2023 15:38

Is anyone else feeling so exhausted and a bit strange today?

It's like my body has gone "AND.....relax" and just wants to sleep to make up for all the sleepless nights.
but my mind is "omg that's that.... now what can I obsess over next...." And can't switch off after all the tutoring, homework, forms, exams, results, school forms, checking, rechecking, reading school allocation priorities, rereading then, looking at past results/past allocations.....now there's nothing more to do for a while.

Maybetoofarsouth · 01/03/2023 16:22

FlamingoSocks · 01/03/2023 15:00

That’s not how it works @Maybetoofarsouth herenin my borough.

So the first time you get an indication of the score is when you get, or don't get, the school place?
