Hi, my DS is in year 5 and we're struggling with not being able to see schools in person. We're having a think about where to apply and at the moment KCL is a favourite geographically but we haven't seen it so don't have a feel for the vibe. We went to see Hampton and KGS before the first lockdown without DS and liked them both. The Emanuel tours booked so quickly when they were released a few weeks ago, I think they are releasing more slots soon. Just wondering if anyone can give us a feeling of the vibe of these schools. Does anyone know what is happening with the headteacher at Kings? They seem to have an acting head at the moment.

Thankfully we got a YES from RGS too. Now it's time to make a choice.

finallywokenup · 11/02/2022 13:59

Just received a confirmation email from Hamptons ! After all the drama yesterday this feels even more wonderful 😊 as this was our first choice.
Thank you for all the support on this group 😘

Thisonesfortheroad · 11/02/2022 14:04

Well done everyone who has had good news today. Our postman didn’t bring any letters today, but was expecting to hear from KGS. Anyone else heard?

sunshineclouds24 · 11/02/2022 14:19

@finallywokenup , congrats!! So pleased for you after the poor action by your head yesterday. My ds is at Hampton and loves it. Make sure you go to the offer morning as it's a lovely event.
Congrats to everyone else too, it really is such a rollercoaster that you can't explain to anyone who isn't in it / lives in another part of the U.K., they think you are quite mad to not sleep for week and week and then get a result that was "expected" all along!

Parentingfor2 · 11/02/2022 14:30

KGS results have arrived

fabricaabandonada · 11/02/2022 15:15

Victory lap: yes KCS 11+ for us
Now, that was really hard.

Whatscookinggoodlooking · 11/02/2022 15:24

Has anyone heard from Westminster? We received offers from CLSB, KCS, SPS. Waiting for Westminster and Wilson's Grammar. It's going to be a though decision for us. I will definitely need some insight.

7plus11plus · 11/02/2022 15:33

We are waiting for Westminster 13+. Not sure if it’s today. Maybe 11+ offers are out?

finallywokenup · 11/02/2022 15:48

@sunshineclouds24- all’s well that ends well 😊
I was preparing myself and DS for the worst outcome and this is now the best
Great to know your son is happy there !

Parentingfor2 · 11/02/2022 16:28

Just noticed how CLSB require responses by 9am 3rd March... Tiffins will be posting their results to parents on 1st March to arrive on 2nd March at earliest... hmm

7plus11plus · 11/02/2022 16:46

CLSB 13+ deadline is 20th May.

Parentingfor2 · 11/02/2022 17:25

Now that all IS offers have come in for DS, I'm now wondering which of the schools will be hiking up their fees the most. Anyone have any insight to the school fees (I believe many have been holding back fee increases because of covid etc)? There is also the risk that (when) Labour get into government, they will slap VAT onto all school fees.

You will get the tiffin result on the 1st as it is a state school. The letter will either confirm the offer or tell you what your score is and whether you're likely to get a place off the waitlist.
Pyrfwondering · 11/02/2022 17:33

@Parentingfor2, enjoy the day with offers for your DS. After 8 entrance exams, take a breath with your DS and appreciate the opportunities that are available, now.

School fees have gone up in the past 2 yrs. Potentially not as much as historic rises. If school fees are a big concern, if you have the option of Tiffins or Sutton grammar schools that's the direction to head, with bo regrets

Well done to all. Lots of very happy and relieved boys tonight. DS has offers and music scholarships from all his schools; I am just relieved it is all over. It has been a tough couple of years through Covid and 11+ so it is a testament to all the boys and mums' characters that we have all survived it. Raising a glass to all tonight.

Glassfull · 12/02/2022 07:28

Hi my DS has got offers from Hamptons and city of london.
We are waitlist (reserve list with a very positive letter sent) on Latymer. The easiest for us to get to.
Thoughts?
City deadline is 3rd March!!! And Latymer will respond around 7th March and Hamptons deadline is 7th March

musicathome76 · 12/02/2022 07:37

It is a yes from RGS with music scholarship! So happy for DS, fantastic top school with inspirational teaching.
He also got Reigate with music and sports scholarships and Reeds with music scholarship. DS has done very well! Thankfully this is my third child (and my last time) doing 11+.

musicathome76 · 12/02/2022 07:46

@Whatscookinggoodlooking good luck with decisions.
Wilson’s is a fantastic school if your kid gets in on states offer day. I have a child there as well as other kids at top independent schools KCL/RGS/Hampton.
Wilson’s educational provision and extra-curricular, particularly in music and football is on par with these fee paying top schools.

Glassfull · 12/02/2022 07:48

Sorry to add DS has two firm offers - Hamptons and city of london

Two waitlist offers - Latymer and KCS

Any thoughts re wait list?

So proud. He sat 4 and great results

Thisonesfortheroad · 12/02/2022 10:51

@Glassfull what order of preference did you have for your schools?

I know 1 mum holding onto both a Hampton and KCS offer (with scholarship) who’s circumstances mean state grammar (Wilson or Tiffin) will always be first choice. She has older DS and tells me Wilson’s is on par with private in her eyes. I suspect she is not alone and there will be a little bit of movement when state offers release.

Glassfull · 12/02/2022 10:54

Thank you so much.

Latymer is number 1. Then Hamptons (which we have got), then city (which we have got) and then kings

Thisonesfortheroad · 12/02/2022 11:09

@Glassfull Sounds to me like you know what to do with City then… perhaps delay response to Hampton for as long as possible and keep in contact with Latymer once state schools release. See how you go. Hampton is online acceptance right? So you could leave it to the last moment to complete.

Thisonesfortheroad · 12/02/2022 11:15

DS got St J but waitlist from EC. DH prefers StJ, but EC was DS preference, so spoke to EC about his chances. They were lovely about it but also fairly clear. Made managing DS expectations about EC easier.

Parentingfor2 · 12/02/2022 11:18

@glassfull hopefully your DS is high up on the wait list. DS has an offer from Latymer, but subject to a long chat tonight we will probably let Latymer know on Monday that he can come off their offer list as we think DS prefers CLSB... so hopefully you'll get a call this week from Latymer. Good luck!

Avidgardner · 12/02/2022 12:19

Anybody received postal offer from KGS yet? We are waiting to hear back re scholarship and other than the email nothing has arrived yet.
