Where did people see info re start of driving lessons/tests?

Monkey2001 · 23/02/2021 11:52

Re driving theory, it is not worth paying for a facetime lesson, the DVLA app is the best way by miles. If they don't use the app and fail first time, they will learn more from that than they would from a facetime lesson! I think you can re-schedule up to a day or 2 before the test.

KingscoteStaff · 23/02/2021 11:54

Both mine used this app www.drivingtestsuccess.com/product/driving-theory-test-4-1-app very successfully.

Monkey2001 · 23/02/2021 12:04

@KingscoteStaff does that one also have the full bank of actual test questions? DS1 even recognised one if the hazard perception clips.

icanbewhatiwant · 23/02/2021 12:43

Yes mine has that app. thanks. He won't look at it though. He says he can learn it all in an hour. If it wasn't for covid then I'd think let him learn by failing. But it might be ages before we can re book if he fails.

icanbewhatiwant · 23/02/2021 13:19

I emailed the theory test centre this morn to confirm whether they will re start theory tests on 12th. as it doesn't actually mention it on the all the government stuff. But that's when I'd assume things will start. My reply was that tests are suspended as of 4th jan and that they don't know when they will resume.

ealingwestmum · 23/02/2021 13:44

DD’s driving instructor has emailed to say he recommences lessons from 12th.

icanbewhatiwant · 23/02/2021 14:33

Yes ours said he thinks 12th but depending whether the government stick to the dates. So I guess no one wants to confirm until nearer the time.

Zandathepanda · 23/02/2021 18:06

Anyone know what their Sixth Form testing plan is? I can see a few days of disrupted lessons while they test everyone and pupils have to wait half an hour before they get the all clear to go in. They will all need sturdy umbrellas!

piggywaspushed · 23/02/2021 18:09

Not so far .. we have had a holding letter. I haven't actually done the consent form yet.

crazycrofter · 23/02/2021 18:36

DD’s school is doing staggered starts - a year group a day, so she’s starting on the Thursday. I’ve done a consent form for her to be tested. Not sure how the fine details will work!

Fferny1 · 23/02/2021 18:57

Ones doing the traditional test on the 5th and I'm not sure about the other school yet.

EventuallyDeleted · 23/02/2021 19:08

Ours (its a whole secondary school not a college) have said they will be staggering entry from the 8th for the first week.

sandybayley · 23/02/2021 19:38

DD will be tested on the 8th and will be back in on-site lessons on the 9th. Then a further test on Thursday 11th. At last!

sansou · 23/02/2021 20:01

Whole school is tested on the 8th and everyone back in on the 9th. Yay!

sansou · 23/02/2021 20:12

Also moved theory test from March to May. DS has only had 2 x 2 hr lessons before they stopped. How far in advance would you need to book the practical?

PaddingtonPaddington · 23/02/2021 20:24

Holding email from DDs school to say phased return but no dates yet, all pupils to be tested on first day back then will be given 2 tests to take home each week to do before coming into school. Hopefully find out which years will be going back on what day soon.

KingscoteStaff · 23/02/2021 20:51

DD’s school is bringing Yrs 11 and 13 on the Monday, 10 and 12 on Tuesday and then 7,8,9 Wednesday onwards.

She’s had to rebook her driving test for late April - much weeping and gnashing of teeth..:

EwwSprouts · 23/02/2021 21:01

DS thinks they're all back in on the Monday from teacher comments but no email to parents yet.

Do we have to consent them as they're over 16? I thought not?

ealingwestmum · 23/02/2021 22:09

Students 16+ able to sign their own consent forms at DD’s school Eww

icanbewhatiwant · 23/02/2021 22:33

@sansou they have to pass the theory before you can book practical. I should think booking a practical will be difficult for a long time. There is still a backlog from the first lockdown.

Monkey2001 · 24/02/2021 07:05

We have a week of testing 8/3, F2F school starting 15/3.

estherfrewen · 24/02/2021 07:34

Not heard anything yet here

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 24/02/2021 08:03

G'ah: no info from school yet - I'm on tenterhooks! They'd said they would send out plans yesterday but guessing they are taking a bit of tying down...
