I tried 119 to no avail last week too, might try again in a few days. Yes, it's a relief we are done, I might not have a diagnosed Gp6 condition but I am over 50 and overweight plus working outside the home, albeit in a very strict Covid-secure environment.

Exponentially I made several pleas to the GP myself so know how infuriating it can be. Glad you and your husband are done though - I know the dread of getting ill yourself and worrying what if...

Thanks @Zandathepanda, I've been trying that with his NHS number but no luck so far, just keeps telling me to contact the GP. DH got his through being in Gp6 anyway due to diabetes (we were talking about that the other week, hope all the other diabetic people have had theirs now) and I got mine as DS's official carer but had to nudge the GP practice as I'm not in receipt of Carer's Allowance so couldn't use that booking link either. That's when they told me DS would have to wait because of the Pfizer shortage. We'll get there in the end.

You should be able to get a booking for your child and you and possibly a partner who has caring responsibilities.

The problem is trying to get the Pfizer one. Your local council or look up the local health authority or even 119 should be able to help you.

The head nurse was great at the hospital we went to and we got it (as carers) to our Dd at the same time - very usual as it’s a long round trip there and back.

I'm not sure Zanda. It seems to be hard to circumvent the GP system here and I last spoke to them at the end of last week, so they do have him on the list. He's not medically vulnerable (eg diabetes or similar) but can't cope in medical settings without us and can't advocate for himself. I have worried more about me being incapacitated and not there for him than about him being seriously ill as I do all the complicated stuff (EHCP, PIP, school etc).

Exponentially can you check with your local hospitals? The Pfizer one was only guaranteed to be available at 2 near us. They have to have the freezer storage capacity. Dd was only allowed to book at one of these.

My DS will be getting it as he's Group 6 (learning difficulties) but as he's under 18 can only have Pfizer which isn't available locally at the moment.

Yes, it would have been so much easier if teachers had been jabbed over half term. But I think there an upcoming uptick in the jab. roll out. My vaccine hub said they were more than doubling the daily numbers of jabs shortly. Plus everyone needs to keep checking the Covid Vaccination page for updates regularly. That's how I booked mine as our local Gp's are way behind due to. Local shortage. Currently it's 55 & older on the Government page but over 50's should be shortly updating .

One positive so far in my large school. Second lots being done now so we will see if that throws more up.

I do prefer DS's school's approach of testing them three times before starting back. It was quicker and less disruptive to lessons.

I had my jab on Saturday & felt dreadful overnight & yesterday. I'm only mildly ill today though.
Ds1 & Dd2 are so happy to be back at school. Also Dd2 attended the Online Invest In course over the weekend and found it very interesting & useful.
No signs of any positive Lft tests in either school. But my nephews school has several at the subsequent testings.

I'm in group 9 by age but group 6 as a registered carer, they haven't started group 9 here yet. They are rattling through them very quickly now though.

So many of you are getting vaccines. That's good to read. I'm not in the top 9 categories. So don't expect mine for a while. A friend is in group 9 though and getting hers this week. I'm only a few years younger. So hopefully won't be much longer. Dh had his 3 weeks ago. So has some protection now.

Mine have both been tired too, Y10 DD was back on Mon, LFTs on Mon/Wed/Fri and first one at home tonight. DS was back on Tue and has had two LFTs. I volunteered to help with the testing at his school on Friday, it was a good atmosphere, everyone working as a team and the students were very well behaved. No positives in 6th form so far.

Been for my jab today (gp 6). DH had his yesterday and started feeling really rough exactly 24 hours later . The vaccination hub was also extremely well organised.
