Thread 8 Carry on Corona Cohort: GAV give us the CAG?

Welcome all to the 8th Thread for this year's GCSE cohort the Corona Cohort!

Some of us have been here since I started first thread back in yr10, some will be new. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in the past. It is hoped this will continue. Going forward we intend to stay in secondary so any new threads should have 'GCSE Summer 2020 Thread # : Carry on Corona Cohort' in title just to make it easier to find.

From now on our DS/DD may go down various paths so we decided not to be exclusionary and stay right here in Secondary until HQ chuck us
At this precise moment in time we are awaiting GCSE results that seem to have been produced by an algorithm that also takes very little account of Teacher Centre Assessed Grades. There is an appeal process but it was changed yesterday to include mock results and coursework, then taken down again for review.
Trying to protect our young people's mental health.during this shit show , which the government claims is their priority...when they talk about wanting students back in schools/college in September...

I believe they were released last week to schools @crazycrofter and some issues results to students; others held back to issue all together on 20th. So theoretically, only those that didn’t receive will see the CAG only result, not the GAV one. Unless schools release both!

My dd woke this morning and said "I wonder what my English result will be today then?
I'm not going to believe the grades until I see the certificates. It's pointless worrying and what ifs, we'll just have to wait and see.
For mine it's looking like 4 GCSE's 9-4, Two of which are English.

My dd was igcse English, was awarded 7/6 the day the results came out (GAV results) to then be told they are going by CAG, so was down graded to 5/5.

better start getting your ideas in for next thread title all !

How about the old song title "We don't need no education" etc.
I always found it telling that public school educated men were telling us this, after their own privileged education.

I hope we can keep this thread going into Post 16- looks like we might need the support if this past few days is anything to go by!

Devlesco surely she chooses the higher grades? Is there no choice for IGCSE? Totally unfair if so.

So that result will now revert back to GAV Deslesko on Thursday (or week after) or have I still got this all wrong?

@crazycrofter The results for the Edexcel IGCSEs will be released on the same day as the GCSEs. DD's school sent out an email earlier today to say that Edexcel has confirmed they'll be following Ofqual guidance and that students will receive either the CAG or standardised grade, whichever is higher (Pearson press release here).
