Thread 8 Carry on Corona Cohort: GAV give us the CAG?

OrangeCinnamon1 · 16/08/2020 09:10

Welcome all to the 8th Thread for this year's GCSE cohort the Corona Cohort!

Some of us have been here since I started first thread back in yr10, some will be new. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in the past. It is hoped this will continue. Going forward we intend to stay in secondary so any new threads should have 'GCSE Summer 2020 Thread # : Carry on Corona Cohort' in title just to make it easier to find.

From now on our DS/DD may go down various paths so we decided not to be exclusionary and stay right here in Secondary until HQ chuck us Grin
At this precise moment in time we are awaiting GCSE results that seem to have been produced by an algorithm that also takes very little account of Teacher Centre Assessed Grades. There is an appeal process but it was changed yesterday to include mock results and coursework, then taken down again for review.
Trying to protect our young people's mental health.during this shit show , which the government claims is their priority...when they talk about wanting students back in schools/college in September...

first ever thread

I just wound it back and listened again. He definitely said that, so they will know their marks but paperwork a week later.

Northumberlandlass · 18/08/2020 07:48

He was very slippery - Louise Minchin looked livid!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 18/08/2020 07:48

I’m assuming a proper headed bit of paper Paddington? I don’t know what they get these days, I took mine when they were o levels!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 18/08/2020 07:49

So, is he going to resign? 😂

Piggywaspushed · 18/08/2020 07:51

This is so open to clerical errors now...

FoolsAssassin · 18/08/2020 07:52

What a car crash that was!! He literally has zero credibility.

So they get told told the higher of CAG or algorithm grade on Thursday with the certification coming the following week?

I am gutted for Steph who was interviewed.

itsgettingweird · 18/08/2020 07:52

@MirandaWest

It's only Tuesday. I feel there's time for a few variations on a theme to happen by Thursday Grin

That’s what I thought Piggy. Hope no one makes a typo in the schools in the next days panic.

Northumberlandlass · 18/08/2020 07:53

To me, the best way will be to have 3 columns, CAG / Moderated / Final .... they have to show both so students have the confidence the correct ones have been officially recorded!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 18/08/2020 07:54

Oh god please no more changes! I’m not sure I can take any more!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 18/08/2020 07:54

Yes @Northumberlandlass that would be the clearest way.

FoolsAssassin · 18/08/2020 07:57

Do you think they have Cabinet training sessions where they sit around with a timer and see who can talk for the longest without saying yes or no, then a score board to monitor improvement in performance?

StillDumDeDumming · 18/08/2020 07:59

We’re still sub 50 hours though. That will do! (I have an A in maths and a Masters in stats with a distinction GrinGrinGrin)

Paranoidmarvin · 18/08/2020 07:59

@MirandaWest Grin

AnneOfCleavage · 18/08/2020 07:59

That was so painful to watch just now. Gavin just prevaricated around all the questions and droning on using words like robust and disadvantaged over and over again. I don't think he answered a single question but used up air time to his own agenda. Poor Steph, I had tears welling up just watching her and hearing her story knowing it mirrors so many others.

Still not clear over whether we get two grades this Thursday or one this week and other next week but all will become clear (or clearer) this Thursday. Not sure my nails can take much more.

AnneOfCleavage · 18/08/2020 08:01

Oh absolutely FoolsAssasin and Gav would be high up on the leader board. DH played bingo on the words Robust and Disadvantaged as he used them over and over.

StillDumDeDumming · 18/08/2020 08:03

Can someone please add a link to the gave interview I can’t seem to find it. Doesn’t have to be clicky

FoolsAssassin · 18/08/2020 08:03

Along with trying to share the blame on the SNP, Labour, Lib Dems and Sinn Fein. Car crash of an interview, any shed of credibility that he had left vanished out the window.

Confusedbutheyho · 18/08/2020 08:03

So now we don’t know if it’ll be both grades on Thursday?

Is it that hard for them to say?! It’s fucking Tuesday!

FoolsAssassin · 18/08/2020 08:04

Breakfast, 18/08/2020: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000lx1f via @bbciplayer

FoolsAssassin · 18/08/2020 08:06

See if that works, he was on at 7.30

Shimy · 18/08/2020 08:06

@Monkey2001 & @itsgettingweird Thank you.

Janie74 · 18/08/2020 08:07

@AnneOfCleavage - We’ve also been playing bingo with Gav’s repetitive word choices. ‘Youngsters’ has featured quite heavily these past few days.

I missed the BBC slot this morning but it doesn’t sound as if it made things any clearer!

BackInTime · 18/08/2020 08:10

DD is so despondent this morning, says that whatever the results are they have been tainted. Firstly because their results will always be deemed less worthy because they didn't actually sit any exams and now also by all this confusion and mess it gives all gives less confidence in what they have accomplished.

FoolsAssassin · 18/08/2020 08:13

7.40 on interview he said about lifting the stupid cap instead of student cap before quickly correcting himself Grin
