Hello All,

Welcome to thread 6 - results...

Last thread here:

Gcses 2019 support thread 5 http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/3610608-gcses-2019-support-thread-5

It's been a fantastically supportive set of threads to date with a diverse set of expectations and challenges (for both parents and children).

I expect this thread may be the most emotive for us all (crikey how did the time fly!!)

Good luck everyone Thanks

Well done Binkom's ds Smile

We've just checked grade boundaries; ds seems reasonably happy with most except science and maths but we knew they'd be trouble.

Ligresa · 22/08/2019 06:22

Nothing here yet. My blood pressure must be sky high.

Powergower · 22/08/2019 06:23

Congrats bimkom. Fabulous results!!

Hoooo · 22/08/2019 06:26

Awake (since 4.11am...)

Well done binkomsds amazing!

monty if it makes you feel any better, I'd have looked too!!! X

Ugh. Feel sick.

Arewedone · 22/08/2019 06:27

Wowzer congrats @Bimkom super happy for you

Bellystuffer · 22/08/2019 06:27

Already winding myself up just by looking at the grade boundaries 😂, every subject is on there except for computer science - we're in Wales and had the widespread wjec computer science muck up where the software didn't work properly so not sure what's happening there! I've been checking the wjec site now and then after the muck up and no news but does not having it on the grade boundaries mean they won't be giving out the results yet do you think? Anyone have experience with issues with an exam/aftermath? It's only one result to be fair but it's one of the ones DD really wants.

Arewedone · 22/08/2019 06:28

@ monty it would hv been a probably me too

Bellystuffer · 22/08/2019 06:28

Fantastic results Bimkom!!!!

Arewedone · 22/08/2019 06:28

I’m still looking for the grade boundaries

Arewedone · 22/08/2019 06:32

Deep breathe , igcse grade boundaries looking achievable.. drive will be ok !! Will check back in once we get into London .

Bellystuffer · 22/08/2019 06:32

Which exam board is it Arewedone?

Saucery · 22/08/2019 06:34

Fantastic, Bimkom ! 🎉

Sososour · 22/08/2019 06:36

Aww Bimkom .. I’m super happy for your Ds! That is fantastic! All that hard work paid off! The dread sixth form will be lucky to have himSmile

Dd and your Dd seemed to be mirror their exam experiences after each exam. let’s hope Dd gets something she is happy with too ( I don’t think they will be in that ballpark though!)
Are you giddyly jumping about? I would be Grin

Hoooo · 22/08/2019 06:37

Looked at boundaries....I'm still clueless! Can't remember what boards he did!!

Sososour · 22/08/2019 06:39

Monty that sounds positive
Do you know what he needed for 6th form?

TabbyStar · 22/08/2019 06:40

Sorry bad formatting but Edexcel and AQA there. You have to convert them to % yourself as it gives marks.

DD woke me twice in the night (not on purpose, just being up), though now she seems to be asleep and I'm the one awake and knackered. 10am for us, so a while yet.

Maths (Edexcel) and physics (AQA) for DD being at around 33% for a 5 make me feel a bit more hopeful about those two, thigh really it works be nice if she gets a couple of 8s or 9s in her good subjects.

AlaskanOilBaron · 22/08/2019 06:42

I’m losing my marbles
Ours are up at 8am
Are they posted without boundaries ie you get he raw grade but not the 5/6/7/8/9?

JuniperOakPark · 22/08/2019 06:43

I'm awake. Grade boundaries are up on the exam board websites but it has been so long I can only remember History being OCR. Arggghhh. Maths is the one that is most important to him.

Ds2 is up, but it is Ds1 getting his GCSE results. He is usually up before 7 but wants to sleep as long as possible this morning because the wait will be worse than getting his results.

Good luck to every child getting their results today, and to all the parents and carers who rode alongside them through the hell that was revision and exams.

Ligresa · 22/08/2019 06:49

My heart keeps skipping beats. Honestly this much stress can't be healthy! Can't remember what exam boards she did although pretty sure it was igcse maths edexcel. Edexcel rs is the only one I can remeber and the grade boundaries for a 9 look pretty low.

zen1 · 22/08/2019 06:50

Thanks for posting the grade boundaries Tabby. DS’s school doesn’t open till 10am either. He is getting the bus there and back, so I probably won’t find out until at least 11.00. He’s still asleep.

Sososour · 22/08/2019 06:51

I had a terrible nights sleep. Am dreading work today.. my brain is fizzy. Dd is going in for 9am on the dot. I’m hoping I get her text just before I start (9.30) . Coming home early at lunchtime and will work from home for a bit. If she gets the grades, we need to take her to her new school with her results to enrol .

Ligresa · 22/08/2019 06:55

If her bedroom door gets flung open and i hear running footsteps i know shes done well. If i hear loud hysterical crying or get a facebook message things won't be great.

KnifeAngel · 22/08/2019 06:58

Another newbie signing in. Good luck to everyone. We can get to the school from 9am. Everyone else is still asleep here.

Sososour · 22/08/2019 06:59

Gosh .. just looking at AQA English literature boundaries. Pretty hard to get those top grades! I don’t think I realised how different the language and literature boundaries were
