Eton, Harrow, Winchester, or Westminster?

So our son is in prep school, and it's around the time that we begin considering which schools he should apply for.
His marks are very good and he enjoys reading. He is apathetic to sport, so we think an unashamedly academic school may be good for him. That's why we initally thought Eton and Harrow were probably not good choices, although we don't want to completely rule them out.
The issue with Westminster is that os only boards during weekends. It is also partially coeducational, and we want our son to have an all-male education.

There have been a few good ones. None went to the school in question through.

peteneras · 11/07/2019 15:30

"And every single one of the Prime Ministers they have produced has been a self serving, incompetent twat of the highest order."

You seem to enjoy incompetent twats that's why you keep voting them in and having them as your prime minister. So here's more TWAT to you and yours! Enjoy it!

howwudufeel · 11/07/2019 15:33

Believe me when I say I would never vote for any of them. The people who do are also twats.
HTH.

peteneras · 11/07/2019 15:36

Looks like they don't need your vote. So you can just go and disappear!

howwudufeel · 11/07/2019 15:37

Yo are a very strange person Grin

FriarTuck · 11/07/2019 15:42

All this information should be readily available to the OP via her prep school. It would be highly unusual for anyone paying fees at a school that regularly sends pupils to the public schools listed not to have this sort of knowledge at their fingertips. It is what you pay for.
A school's view is going to be different to that of parents'. It makes sense to ask 'normal' people too. I'm guessing the hostility appearing is due to feelings of inferiority Wink

peteneras · 11/07/2019 15:45

What? Me or you?

You just chose to pick on one narrow profession - politics - and then goes on to slag Eton off. In spite of the many other areas of excellence that I mentioned that the School produces. Look up the dictionary for 'strange'!

nolanscrack · 11/07/2019 15:47

One of the schools has in the last couple of weeks won the national under 15 cricket, the youll trophy in tennis and the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Henley,in other words national champions in three different sports. Its a school where Academics standards are high but you have to offer more than decent academics to get in
I congratulate howudufeel on his obvious deep knowledge ,he is so right, whenever I think of people like Pitt The Elder,The Duke of Wellington,Canning, Gladstone etc I always think -you self serving incompetent twats....Wine

Teddybear45 · 11/07/2019 15:49

Boys tend to be more successful in mixed sex environments (while girls tend to be less successful).

howwudufeel · 11/07/2019 15:52

Yes I meant that you are strange. This school has done more to damage the UK than any other place. It perpetuates the promotion of the mediocre and self serving.

Teddybear45 · 11/07/2019 15:53

You will find that the kids who do the best at private school are boys who have old family money. If you don’t then you need to weigh the costs vs the benefits. Yes all the schools may still provide opportunities but from a jobs perspective something more inclusive might be better.

nolanscrack · 11/07/2019 15:59

howdu..sit down have a cup of Brew and a nice piece of Cake and relax and then maybe consider not posting about a school you clearly know nothing about..

peteneras · 11/07/2019 16:02

"This school has done more to damage the UK than any other place. It perpetuates the promotion of the mediocre and self serving."

Just be honest for once - have you ever been to Eton (I don't mean to study) but just visiting?

Do you know where is Eton?

GoFiguire · 11/07/2019 16:43

peternerasjunior is a scholarship kid so obviously Pete is biased.

howwudufeel · 11/07/2019 16:49

nolanscrack sadly I think we all know about Eton in the UK especially the politicians they produce. Cameron was a lazy incompetent whose father funded his wealth through an offshore tax haven. He took us out of Europe because he couldn’t control his own backbenchers. The next likely PM is a lazy incompetent who is also racist for good measure. It’s hard not to see a pattern...

howwudufeel · 11/07/2019 16:50

Yes is know where Eton is. What difference does geography make? Confused

peteneras · 11/07/2019 17:15

Again, you seem to have completely missed the point. No, it's not geography that I was on about. The point is to expose the fact that you are commenting and criticising on something that you know absolutely nothing about.

And the fact that what Cameron Sr. did for a living or how he generated his wealth has got nothing whatsoever to do with his son, Cameron Jr. And you are wrong again - just as you are wrong in all of your postings here on this thread - to say PM Cameron "took us out of Europe". He didn't! The people voted to leave on a clear majority to get the hell out of Europe. On the contrary, PM Cameron campaigned and fought very hard to stay in the wretched Europe!

howwudufeel · 11/07/2019 17:18

It was hard to know what you were ‘on about’ because your grammar is so poor.

peteneras · 11/07/2019 17:31

Can't say I'm surprised that you find it hard to know what I was 'on about'. All you ever need to do to find things not "hard to know" is to go back to school. And may I suggest Eton? Grin

howwudufeel · 11/07/2019 17:36

You can suggest Eton, but I shall politely decline on the grounds that I think it’s a pile of shite Smile

peteneras · 11/07/2019 17:40

But you've never been there to know, have you? Confused

howwudufeel · 11/07/2019 17:41

I haven’t been in. I have walked around it once, years ago. I don’t like what it represents.

stucknoue · 11/07/2019 17:45

Dd has ex Eton and Winchester boys at her school, they were not nice, also the world is co-ed why segregate? Boys aren't locked up you know, they have girlfriends (and boyfriends!) at the likes of eton et al.

My dd loved boarding but do consider if it's right and why you want him to, it doesn't suit everyone

peteneras · 11/07/2019 17:45

So you're confirming your knowledge about Eton (and it seems about everything you don't know) is from years ago?

howwudufeel · 11/07/2019 17:55

For god’s sake. It’s not the bricks and mortar. It’s the people it produces and what it represents that I don’t like Confused
