Well ds came home smiling!
But not sure if it was because I was jumping aroud singing "Congratulations"
Or ...he has finished
Or ...Physics was good .
I am not going to ask him .

I did say to ..woohoo all GCSE,S done
Then he said ..yeah till i do the re takes .

( might not get rid of all the English and Maths books yet !)

bizzey · 14/06/2019 11:32

Ahh Foslady keep posting .
We can't let you do the last bit on your own !!

Iambuffy · 14/06/2019 11:33

DD mixed about hr Physics. The wordy questions were good, and she was pleased with them, but she said the formulea ones were tricky. She couldn't do a couple.

Just Biology for us to this pm. Their board does a weird multiple choice paper 3, just to prolong the agony Grin. Also, and I think I mentioned this before, it is only 45 mins long, but they have to stay for 1.30hrs to fit in with the timetables of other schools. So, they have to sit for an extra 45 mins not doing anything.

She is then off to town to get DH something for father days - bless.

pikapikachu · 14/06/2019 11:39

My dd was happy with Physics. She left straight after the exam as she's got German next week so didn't want to see the majority celebrating the end of GCSEs.

bizzey · 14/06/2019 11:40

SilentSister I hope they are at least allowed to put their head down on the table for a snooze !

Will be wierd to feel the difference in 45 mins .
In an exam it feels like 45 seconds..
In this case it will feel like 45 hours 😂

myrtleWilson · 14/06/2019 11:44

And.... we're done. Will be rooting for you on Monday foslady

silent what an odd set up having to hang around for 45 minutes! Hope it flies by...

have dropped DD at a friends house, party tonight and another tomorrow night and then I suspect a fair amount of sleep on Sunday.

These threads have been so great - thank you all!

Itsagrandoldteam · 14/06/2019 11:48

DS was happy with physics, he said there were questions on tyres and braking, and being a big formula 1 fan he was happy with those.
His last exam is on Monday, I must remember to take a photo.
It doesn't seem like end of an era, because he will be staying on in 6th form, but some of his closest friends are moving on.

My DS's school (usually very strict on uniform) gave out their hoodies before the GCSE's started, and they have been allowed to wear them instead of their blazers. I think that was a great idea, because he has already worn it for 4 weeks, I doubt after Monday that he will ever wear it again.

Congratulations to everyone that has finished, and not long to go now for those that haven't.

Arewedone · 14/06/2019 12:01

IGCSE edexcel physics feedback was it was was ok but tricky something about a catch you out nucleus question and another on moments!
Off to have a drastic hair change to celebrate!
Hope everyone can breathe now. We are done 😀

readyforsunshine · 14/06/2019 12:23

Well done to all dcs & cheers to us!🥂
Been great to have your company & support along the way as well as getting feedback on the exams. I hope you all have a wonderful summer & that results day brings what they all need to get them to their next step.
Just spoke to dd & she’s delighted to be finished but didn’t feel the exam went as well as the others have. At least her worst was her last!

MaddieElla · 14/06/2019 12:55

DD said physics was a fantastic paper, really happy. Got the last question. I'm so pleased she has finished on a high because she's been very up and down in terms of how she thinks she's done.

And we are done. Smile

Have a fab summer everyone and I will 'see' you in August.

Iambuffy · 14/06/2019 13:09

Ds very happy with latter half of physics paper.
He is very tearful though bless him.

Good luck for those still going. Last year (where I mostly lurked) people did keep checking in on the thread all summer (it would be nice to read about how the proms went, for those who have them, and other activities for those who are doing exciting things - I certainly feel like I know some of your DC, and they have all had such a difficult and stressful time, it would be nice to hear they are enjoying themselves as well find out how the non school challenges go- eg Rugby how you end up coping with the shoe crisis ), and then in the few days before the results everybody was back on as an outlet for their nervousness while waiting during the countdown (I certainly will need it, as DS will be very, very nervous, and having me obviously nervous as well will definitely not help). Do the IGCSE results still come out weeks before the regular GCSEs? Most of us are waiting on 22nd August. Are there any other dates?

steppemum · 14/06/2019 13:28

ds said physics was fine, ran out of time for last question, but managed to stick down all the equations you needed to use, and do the first bit, so should get a few marks

Iambuffy · 14/06/2019 13:32

Agree binkom

Ds has induction days on 1st and 2nd of July.

Think that's it before rests day!

OP posts:
Michaelahpurple · 14/06/2019 13:40

Oddly some IGCSEs come out with the rest and some come on the 14th ish. I think DS's english from CIE igcse are the early ones but I am not quite sure. - it seems such a long time away....

Foslady · 14/06/2019 13:46

Thank you! Good to know I won’t be a line voice!!!!
I’d love to hear everyone’s prom updates and results (hopefully lots of smiles).
We’re away for AS Sociology and maths FSMQ results coming out so hoping that a letter with a friend and logging with the school will mean she can find out how she did (she wants me up at 3am on holiday!!!Shock)
Good luck everyone and hope everyone’s celebrating goes well

WeirdOne · 14/06/2019 13:48

Just to complete the protractor saga .....
This year it was listed as required equipment on the front of the paper.......and it wasn't needed!!
(or DS didn't use it anyway)

I know I came late to this thread but it has been super helpful.
My mum became ill and then died during the exam period and I might not have got in touch with the schools if it hadn't been discussed here.
We have both A levels and GCSEs going on so it has affected both DCs

And the feedback from all over the country after each exam has been reassuring.
So thank you all!

steppemum · 14/06/2019 13:49

Oh yes, can we keep this going for prom?
Can we post headless pictures? (or even with heads Grin)

ds busy looking for a job already!
I have to remind him we need to go shopping, so he can't start on Monday morning!

bizzey · 14/06/2019 14:05

No prom for us ..in fact nothing till results.
He is going back to the school 6th form and should have been going in for 2 days in July....but they put the dates up after their holiday was booked .

I dont think he is too bothered.
It was meant to be taster lessons of A level subjects.
Till we get the results ...well we just wont know what he will be doing

AGirlHasNoCake · 14/06/2019 14:13

@TeenTimesTwo thanks for the info on Btec level 2s. That might be what she ends up doing...! I hopeful about Math, less so about ENglish, and I think positive that she will get history. The rest - who knows. Certainly she has studied Love Island more than any of her other subjects!

Our school had prom before the exams started - it was good to get it out of the way!

Shall we all make a pact to come back here on AUgust 22 to find out how they did in their exams??

SolitudeAtAltitude · 14/06/2019 14:25

22 August is a ridiculously long way away....

DS was happy about AQA triple, said it was fine.

prom next week

taster day at 6th form college

then NCS!

So AQA Physics went well apparently.

Glad it's ended on a high note!

Good luck to all those with more exams next week.

Finally thanks to everyone for such a lovely, supportive thread. Thanks

It's been so helpful to see everyone's feedback on the various exams and share this crazy rollercoaster of emotions during the exam season.

See you all again in August (and perhaps again in 2 years time for A Levels!!!).

Best of luck to everyone and hopefully we'll see all the children get the grades they need.
