Good luck! X

Arewedone · 13/08/2019 10:00

Thanks hoo!!
So happy for Dd 3x9’s we looked at the grade boundaries before logging on and were slightly apprehensive as German grade boundaries were high! But thankfully English boundaries not so!
Absolutely thrilled for her. Need to wait for the rest next week along with everyone else !!

Michaelahpurple · 13/08/2019 10:32

FAB Awed!

Ds1 I think did english and history with that board, but his school aren't releasing. Will go and pointlessly pore over grade boundaries ..... :-)

ArthursSlave · 13/08/2019 10:47

Arewedone Congratulations - that's great.

DD did English A-E syllabus and Biology 9-1. The English I can't find (!), but the biology grade boundaries for a 9 look really low, fingers crossed :-)

Foslady · 13/08/2019 12:26

Congratulations @Arewedone dd - that’s brilliant news’

Arewedone · 13/08/2019 13:27

Thank you so much everyone. We were so worried about English as she really disliked the set text for literature and only listened to the audio which is why we checked the grade boundaries first to prepare for opening the results! Huge surprise so v happy!

Arewedone · 13/08/2019 13:33

@ArthursSlave I’ve found these if it helps

Arewedone · 13/08/2019 15:58

Thanks hoo x was a big surprise:)

Sososour · 13/08/2019 18:45

Gosh Are what a brilliant effort (which obviously paid off)
Well done to your Dd
Are igcses a mixture of A-g and 9-1s then?

Arewedone · 14/08/2019 01:59

@Sososour - seems so re the A-G, also didn’t know this until Arthersslave raised it!
Dd was talking about an AQA thresholds leak yesterday and seems to think grade boundaries lower than last year, but no idea where she has that info from! No use to her as her next lot are all Edexcel!
Now waiting for DS Alevels tomorrow Grin

Michaelahpurple · 14/08/2019 07:20

Sosour - for some subjects schools can choose this year to have IGCSEs marked abc or 123, based on the same syllabus.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 14/08/2019 09:36

Poor ds has been having anxiety dreams about next Thursday! I've tried to stay off the subject but he keeps 'casually' dropping it into conversation, bless him. So I ended up doing the full 'Look, it's absolutely ok, whatever happens, exams aren't everything, we love you whatever, life goes on, you'll still be happy' thing....aaaargh.

The constant low-level stress. The not-knowing. I cannot WAIT until it's over.

eatthatfrog · 14/08/2019 11:59

MaudBailey - I know the waiting is so hard! My dd was ill during her exams and didn't manage to sit all of them, she has been very down about It all as she can only remember sitting 2 of the papers. Lately she has slowly started to open up and say she's scared because she has no idea how's she done as she can't remember and wants to stay for sixth form. She has brightened up as the first three days timetable has appeared on her app so she can to talk to friends about it. I too have done the full "Look, it absolutely fine, whatever happens, you did amazingly well to sit any and if you didn't make sixth form, we can discuss next week. Just focus on being well and you can do it at Levels" thing... it's so hard just want to skip straight to next Thursday

Hoooo · 14/08/2019 14:17

Ds1 is being very grumpy at times, which is out of character.

I'm just trying to leave him to it....not helped by well meaning family/friends exclaiming "ooooh, not long now!" 🙄

ArthurtheCatsHumanSlave · 14/08/2019 14:43

Yeah, really odd, I really don't know why the English Dept decided to be the last to stick with the A-E grades, when the Biology Dept changed to 9-1. It means DD will have a load of 9-1's and one A-E. Oh well.

Thanks Arewedone, I had found the Lit, so it was the Lang that was confusing, but in the end DD found the number for the spec, so we could be sure it was the right one (which is the one you found).

Interestingly on both the Eng and the Bio, the grade boundaries for a top grade are 10% less than they were led to believe, and used to grade their mocks, and set their expected grade Shock.

Hoooo · 14/08/2019 14:51

Have any other grade boundaries been released?

ArthurtheCatsHumanSlave · 14/08/2019 15:01

hoooo No, not yet. It's only this first released CIE bunch, and they only came out just before they released their results.

Hoooo · 14/08/2019 15:04

I think they used to release them the day before?
Obv have stopped that now

Arewedone · 14/08/2019 17:20

@Arthurthecat I can’t tell you how relieved we were for English lit boundary. Oddly the German boundary was much higher @ 90%. I was just looking at the released A level grade boundaries ahead of DSs results tomorrow and the German is also higher this year! Thankfully he didn’t take it!

Arewedone · 14/08/2019 17:21

@Hoo Alevel grade boundaries have been released today but the igcse were released just before the results.

Michaelahpurple · 14/08/2019 17:38

Yes - I wasn't cheered by the french igcse boundaries - it is the subject DS feels least punchy on (appropriately so - his french is fairly pants) and the boundaries vaguely suggest to me that he could get a.m grade lower than he is predicting.

We will see ......

Hoooo · 14/08/2019 17:54

Ah

So they still give out the a level boundaries the day before?

TabbyStar · 14/08/2019 18:00

Why have they stopped giving out GCSE grade boundaries the day before? I feel as though I'm missing something to do with the "obviously"!

Arewedone · 14/08/2019 18:09

@Tabbystar maybe they will give them out the day before . These were just cie board.
