I think they felt it caused too much stress for the students?

Hoooo · 14/08/2019 18:55

Ah.
The a level boundaries have been leaked

Hoooo · 14/08/2019 22:04

Um.
Possibly daft question alert! :)
Will gcse students get their grades on a printed slip (like I did) or is it a bit more high tech these days?
I think mine was printed by matrix dot printer!!! :)

LosingHerMissMarbles · 14/08/2019 22:23

DS1 four years ago got his on A4 printed sheets. Each subject also had his mark breakdown for different papers as well as the overall grade. We looked up grade boundaries when he got home. I'm assuming DS2 will have the same information even though the grading system is now numerical.

Arewedone · 14/08/2019 22:30

DS 2 years ago received a print out with the grade. Dds school gives out the separate sheet with your actual % score as well but Dss think it creates more competition so refuse to do it.

Hoooo · 14/08/2019 22:56

Thank you!
Realised earlier that I had no clue :)

EverardDigby · 15/08/2019 07:29

Feels a bit weird today with A level results coming out, that's ours are both close and still a really long time away!

Anyone going to school with DCs to collect results? I'm not sure about the protocol here. DD thinks she's done worse than everyone is expecting in some of her subjects so is feeling very apprehensive about what people are going to say at school.

Sososour · 15/08/2019 07:47

Everard .. the nerves are starting to grow aren’t they? This waiting and not knowing is so hard
if your Dd wants your support on the morning of results (but isn’t sure about you going in as well) then maybe wait outside in car? Or at local cafe? That way, you are about and can get to her fast if she needs you.
Some parents do go into dds school on results morning . It has lots of pastoral care, home contact and parent interaction (parent coffee mornings etc) so this is not considered odd at her school. But, saying that , even if it wasn’t, I’d be there if Dd wanted me to be.
I am at work that morning, but dh is about and on standby if needs be.
Good luck to your Dd, I will keep everything crossed that all our dc are happy with their slips of paper next Thursday

Hoooo · 15/08/2019 07:49

Parents no allowed to go in at ds1s school.

whojamaflip · 15/08/2019 08:19

I'm going to drop Ds off and loiter in the car park while he picks up his results. Apparently there's a chance I may have to pay money if he's close to grade boundaries for re-marks? Is that right? First time doing this so not sure. Also want to be on hand if it's gone completely pear shaped and he doesn't get the grades for college 😱

God I wish it was next Friday already 😩

EverardDigby · 15/08/2019 08:42

We only live three or four minutes from the school so I may possibly be over-thinking! The week after I'll be sending her off to make her final choices for A levels by herself, which feels a bit weird to not be involved in the discussions.

Hoooo · 15/08/2019 09:38

Will the schools have the results already? Or is it the day before?

Foslady · 15/08/2019 10:18

An A in AS Sociology and a D in FSMQ maths - she’s very happy (and so am I!). She absolutely bombed the maths to the point of having to discuss with her teacher if she should do the exam so to go from a U to a D we’re very pleased, and Sociology the exams were at awful times (first exam day and with biology on the same day) and she was sure that she’d messed up an essay!
Good luck everyone!

Fibbsdottir · 15/08/2019 11:07

Dd2 was surprised to get her igcse English results today, were expecting them tomorrow. A slightly disappointing 6 in Eng Lang but a fabulous 9 in English Lit (her A level choice).

Arewedone · 15/08/2019 15:41

Proud & slightly tipsy here..up since 5am DS hit his grades & will be off to Oxford Wine! Congrats Fos and Fibs! very mixed bag with the A level results this year. Can’t believe this time next week we will all be finally finished with GCSEs

eatthatfrog · 15/08/2019 16:30

well done Are, fibs and fobs. great news!

MaddieElla · 15/08/2019 16:39

I will definitely be going in, DD looked positively panicked when I suggested I just wait in the car.

Depending on how much pressure shes feeling/who is about she'll either open the envelope there and then or bring it out to the car. The thought of opening the results and not doing well then having to stand there is making me all kinds of sick.

Hoooo · 15/08/2019 16:55

are fibbs and fobs congrats!!!! Xxx

EverardDigby · 15/08/2019 16:57

Turns out same for us Maddie, DD wants to open her results in a corner and then have me to slink away with if it's not good!

Sososour · 15/08/2019 17:33

Well done to fos and fibs dc!
Arewedone.. well done to your Ds.. much relief I imagine

Hoooo · 15/08/2019 17:36

I've told I'm going to climb over the hedge and press my face up to the window 🤣🤣

berlinbabylon · 15/08/2019 17:40

I wish ds had opted to get his results by email. It's not much fun having everyone celebrating around you if your results are less good than hoped.

I can't remember going in for my GCSE results at all, although I remember A level results day.

ArthurtheCatsHumanSlave · 16/08/2019 09:31

DD gets hers by email, which I knew, but she has just told me they won't be sent until 10am ........Arggggghhhhhhh. We have been instructed not to disturb her, she will open her mail in bed, and will exit her bedroom when ready!

onaroll · 16/08/2019 12:24

Congrats to the already in results 😊
Arewedone - my friends Dd also off to Oxford with amazing results well done to your Ds 🎉

Thursday - I’m going & staying in car to be called if need be... Dds school they have to firm up their 6th form application with their results in hand all part of results day.

From sad experience with Ds - if the results are not up to A’level choices it can be brutal. He ended up in a row with his results with head of 6th form when she was ‘less than complimentary’ with his. ( I was not with him at request). Wish I had been ...
He ‘burnt his bridges’ right then and ended up elsewhere in September. But it was the best thing ever for him ( didn’t know it at time though).
Can’t believe results are just round corner 😱

TabbyStar · 16/08/2019 12:57

DD is going to a separate sixth form college so she has over the weekend to firm up her A level choices, so I'm glad she has some time to reflect on her results because she's massively undecided. Mind, she's off to a festival from Thursday to Monday so not sure that much reflecting will be done!
