Hi everyone- just that- holding out hope for KGS or Ibstock in particular, but worried it's been a bumper year with the birth rate in SW London. If anyone is certain of which school they are accepting may I beg you in politest way possible to please don't let your other offers just lapse, please tell school if you won't be taking up offer. Similarly let state schools know too if you will be taking up indie place. Thank you from those of us desperate for indie place as worried state allocation will be too far to be practical as not church going and in "black spot" locality!!!Shock

@ancientgeordiegirl I also liked IPS. The grounds are lovely and the sports facilities are on site. It will also be on the up academically especially now all these schools are getting more competition and tougher to get into. The arts are also meant to be really strong there.

SquirmOfEels · 05/03/2019 07:04

Sorry to be the voice of doom, but unless she needs to be in school at 8:00, you haven't practices the morning school run. You have done the journey at a different, earlier time.

If you have to go early to avoid the traffic, is there a nice coffee shop to lurk in?

ancientgeordiegirl · 05/03/2019 07:53

Hi @SquirmofEels IPS opens very early as they serve breakfast to early arrivals from 7.45👍 My daughter loves to be early for everything (inherited from my MIL) as I’m always running late. She wants to get there for breakfast which I’m happy width. I’m also happy to drive her to start with and then on days that’s not possible she can get the bus. We have the relevant bus stop at the bottom of our road (less than 1 minute away) it’s then on the bus 30 minutes till the last stop and a 6 minute walk. She uses an adult sized scooter to get about at the moment so I think the IPS end of the journey can be made quicker that way too.

@ancientgeordiegirl am with you on the more time goes on the more we’re getting attached to Putney High. Less of a conundrum for us as we are almost exactly equidistant between the two and both are all girls. Don’t get me wrong, being a current parent at PHS I have nothing but praise for the school and my DD is thriving there. The head Suzie Longstaff is doing amazing things and results are on the up. I am veering more towards g&l (I probably won’t have the choice ultimately!) as it feels more like a ‘London school’ with kids coming from all over and possibly a sense of wider cultural and social diversity, more similar to LU than PHS which is more of a ‘local High’. Those are my own experiences and thoughts, any g&l parent feel free to comment.

Good luck everyone on any WL - it is nearly over! Smile surely..??

WestOlive · 05/03/2019 08:55

@Callicarpa Thank you. I think so too re NHES. Any news for you yet? Everything crossed for you and everyone who’s longing for the lists to move.

Callicarpa19 · 05/03/2019 09:25

Thanks, Ibstock said they are now full for Sept. )-: hoping for KGS 🤞suspect we are reliant on others choosing Tiffin, Latymer etc

PHS have told me this morning that there has been slight movement on the waitlist but not enough to save us making a deposit at FH. FH will be an excellent alternative.
For those on the G&L waitlist. I know of two concrete offers being turned down today.

ancientgeordiegirl · 05/03/2019 11:18

@Toomuchpressure169 just received email from G & L that no more waitlist offers being given - I’m strangely relieved as we were all getting attached to IPS and it would have felt weird to do a U turn and accept G & L - how about you?

dinosaurinmybelly · 05/03/2019 13:24

Child from DD's school was offered a place from the Alleyn's WL yesterday.

waytoomuchmuch · 05/03/2019 14:27

Does anyone have info about the WL at Emanuel?

KingscoteStaff · 05/03/2019 22:59

Child in my class offered Latymer today so will be releasing PHS and G&L.

Callicarpa19 · 06/03/2019 06:52

Waytoomuch haven't heard anything about Emmanuel waitlist. Good luck. Presume deadline today so maybe you will get some clarity soon!

“Child in my class offered Latymer today so will be releasing PHS and G&L.”

Kingscote - does that mean they had to lose two deposits? Shock The deadline for PHS was Monday morning and G&L before 12 yesterday.

Toomuchpressure169 · 06/03/2019 09:22

We have just been offered Latymer this morning. Still in shock but overjoyed!! Grin I will be releasing PHS this morning to all Putney hopefuls. Registrar at LU said there’s always a shake around even sometimes to the wire as late as summer.

xionati · 06/03/2019 10:25

Anyone holding out for Harrodian? Deadline for first offers is today ….hoping for some wait list movement

Mots · 06/03/2019 10:42

I had heard that Harrodian are putting on an extra class next year as they didn’t get as many turning down places as expected. I can’t be sure as SW chat and we didn’t try for Harrodian.
We are going through a parenting challenge with our daughter gutted about the WL not moving at PHS. good to hear places maybe freed up. Emotional rollercoaster.

xionati · 06/03/2019 10:46

Thanks @MOTS - it has been an interesting year. Radnor cut off 2.5 days early on first offers. I can't imagine how angry some parents might have been that they over offered so much in the first instance. Feels a bit wrong however I suppose these schools are a business at the end of the day.

Callicarpa19 · 06/03/2019 11:05

It must be particularly difficult for a new-ish school like Radnor or Kew House to gauge offer numbers as genuine interest must grow exponentially after a few years of being a "backup" for some, but they won't know what year it will take off!
But then as waitlists move (heard of another Latymer offer yesterday) that will free up a place elsewhere and so on and could they be left with a smaller cohort then expected? registrars must need a stiff gin every night at the moment! Parents on waitlists certainly do!!! Good luck for harrodian and Emmanuel.....

OP posts:
Toomuchpressure169 · 06/03/2019 11:14

@Callicarpa19 - couldn’t agree more, thank god for a stiff gin each night!! Seen me through waitlist angst. Think the registrars actually quite enjoy this time of year, it’s probably quite exciting no? Better than being bored..

@Mots - have you called PHS this morning? I would..ask to speak to Kate in admissions.

xionati · 06/03/2019 11:19

I have felt so guilty with chasing the Registrars as I can only imagine how inundated some must be at the moment. DD's current Head encourages us wait list pursuers to be in constant contact with them however I don't want to be a burden either! It's a fine line I feel....

Toomuchpressure169 · 06/03/2019 11:20

Someone at our primary gave back their Emanuel waitlist place yesterday. Talking to LU registrar again - it’s all go today, lots of movement despite cut off for similar schools gone by. Keep calling WL holders, and that came from the registrar.

Mots · 06/03/2019 11:24

yes, thanks for the suggestion. I gave PHS a call earlier. Told them how we are local, would forfeit deposit elsewhere - they were keen to hear all this. I think today is the last day I call. If I am expecting my DD to get her head around this, i need to be fully on board with FH which I do love too.

Shirim69 · 06/03/2019 11:29

Anyone know of any movement at Surbiton High?

waytoomuchmuch · 06/03/2019 13:57

Does anyone know if the deadlines for offer acceptance has passed now at all London Schools?

xionati · 06/03/2019 15:12

Its a no for us from Harrodian WL - they had a high uptake on offers (as mentioned in an earlier thread!) so they said they had very little room to shuffle. I am slightly disappointed but we did manage our second choice school so I can't be too greedy. At least now our wait is over.
