Reservoir that's true, that's how the 9 was to be determined and the 7 by equating it to previous years but the position of the 8 was supposed to be halfway between.

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 19:52

They are Ellen. The 8 should sit in middle of 7 and 9. Or at least thatis what I thought ( sigh)

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 22/08/2018 19:52

Cross post Grin

mmmz · 22/08/2018 19:53

X-posted one teen. I'm wondering if those GB are fake too.

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 19:57

I think they are. Too much of a jump in my mind and would not be fair really unless they had masses getting 9 s last year and they want to stop grade inflation. The 7 should be similar to last years 7 unless cohort is exceptionally bright in which case even more worry about getting that grade for 6 th form.

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 19:58

All the one's I have seen look credible and make sense ...but seems a bit odd not to follow their rules.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 22/08/2018 19:59

Well, the 2017 ones are right and not exactly even either, but only by 1% point to stop them splitting the whole number.

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 20:01

I cant post the Maths piccy but

196, 142,113,71,54 and 46 out of 240.

F 153,119 out of 240.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 22/08/2018 20:03

That's better than mmmz's leaked version. I guess it's all academic but fun to analyse. Grin

ReservoirDogs · 22/08/2018 20:05

Maybe they mean its a midway split ie. the same number get 9s as 8s.

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 20:05

Oddly enough Maths does not make sense either and they look leggit.

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 20:06

legit...but who knows.

ReservoirDogs · 22/08/2018 20:07

is that Maths gcse rather than igse?

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 20:07

Aqa 2017 grade 9 English language raw mark was 132.

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 20:09

Wow 83 points between a 7 and 9 ...very odd - not sure reliable!

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 20:11

8 123, 7 114, 6 102, 5 91, 4 80.

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 20:12

Nope I'm not relying on leaked boundaries.

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 20:14

Yes GCSE not IGCSE...not sure we will see IGCSE until the morning....I still cant get over GB's coming down on an old IGCSE syllabus - a subject that has not changed?

Just had a lovely message from DD's French tutor - she was wonderful and I wish we had more teachers like her ...she got married two weeks ago and she looked lovely....so nice to think that she is thinking of DD having just got back from honeymoon.

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 20:14

There should not be more than 12-15 marks between each grade surely?Hmm

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 20:15

That's lovely oneteen.

mmmz · 22/08/2018 20:17

Reservoir no they really do mean a mid way split between the raw scores. Look at least year's 1-9 on any exam board website (so you get the official version) and you'll see that they do this .

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 20:17

Top 20% will get a 7-9. Only 3-5% of those will be a 9 well that's what I think anyways.

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 20:19

Yes official ones look like that mmzz.

Cherryburn · 22/08/2018 20:21

If you look back over the last few years the GBs on igcses do jump around oneteen. Only by a few % but certainly the sciences have broadly come down over the last 2 or 3 years. DS did say that he thought a lot of this year’s papers were harder than the past papers he’d done. Apart from Physics, and that’s gone up by 6% on last year.

Who knows? All will be revealed in 12 hours or so!

mmmz · 22/08/2018 20:22

are you sure about those, sost. im looking at the 2017 grade boundaries on the aqa site now and thats not what i am seeing.

Maybe we are talking a cross -purposes. Are you quoting Nov 2017?
