Terfterf Grin _ think mmmz would make a good GV.

I think all the DC's will feel that way...DD was a bit tearful when she was waiting for her mocks because she knows her friendship group are mainly straight A*/A's....and she knew that she had not put in the effort in yr9/10 (class clown) and thought it was too late to do anything about it...but she did work harder in yr11 and has matured since.

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 14:42

Reservoir - they are leaked on the Internet so could be questionable .

ReservoirDogs · 22/08/2018 14:50

Oneteen- which site? Nothing on Twitter other than someone trying to pass off last year's Maths and English as this year's (unless I am searching the wrong #!

Twinplusone · 22/08/2018 14:51

I’m back from holiday and trying to catch up with the new thread. It’s been a holiday of two halves, DD was Angry at start of holiday and I was wishing to come home, but overnight she became Halo - she was so lovely and has continued to be since we have been home. Of course may all change tomorrow. Sad English is DDs weakest subject so don’t need for it to be made harder for her to pass.

I like the idea of mmmz being GV, I have a vision of her with swingometer Jeremy Vine style reporting GCSE results rather than election results Grin

ReservoirDogs · 22/08/2018 14:51

ah - just seen Student Room

veiledsentiments · 22/08/2018 15:07

Saw the IT teacher out today. No news on grades for youngest, although he gave me eldest's grade 4 years ago. Strictly not allowed. Think grades will be on the portal at 9:00 my time. 6:00 UK time. Haven't had any internet all day, but thankfully the guy turned up an hour ago, and we have a new modem?? It's 6:00 p.m. here and I am already on my first glass of wine.

Holidayshopping · 22/08/2018 15:24

I hope the English doesn’t go up loads. It won’t be much good for the country if the headlines are full of record numbers of kids failing English tomorrow

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 22/08/2018 15:34

The numbers 'passing' (getting a 4/C) should be the same, roughly as that's why they adjust grade boundaries to cancel out variation in difficulty of the exams. The numbers getting a 7 or more will be the same at those getting an A or more in previous years. Don't worry too much. (Easy to say!) Grade boundaries are more useful for knowing whether to go for a review of marks is worth it.

LooseAtTheSeams · 22/08/2018 15:37

I haven't seen the AQA boundaries but I would think that roughly the same number will pass English as last year. The increase may be due to people getting better marks on paper 1 this year because last year's paper 1 was very difficult for anyone not already on course for a high grade. This year, I think students found it easier to identify with the subject - certainly my own students who were resitting were a lot happier with it.

Oratory1 · 22/08/2018 15:53

Cookies now there s an idea - I ll see if I can get DD2 on to some baking for him for when he gets back 😀

Cblue · 22/08/2018 15:55

Just looked - Maths seems very low. Do we think it's legit???

Just asked DD if she wants to see them and got an emphatic NO.

ReservoirDogs · 22/08/2018 15:57

So have been packing DS's bag for Reading Festival - 18 cereal bars, 2 breakfast drinks, 4 apples and 4 bags of mango pieces, 5 bottles of water plus clothes.

Showed him how to roll clothes so they don't crease.
Packed single duvet cover to sleep in if hot and don't want to use sleeping bag. (Reminder - sleep with valuables at bottom of sleeping bag/duvet cover to prevent theft during night time).

Catching bus at 9.30. Fortunately results are emailed at 6am. It is going to be frantic tomorrow am!

Cherryburn · 22/08/2018 16:05

Cblue are you talking about the Edexcel igcse boundaries? If so I think they could be legit-certainly the low Geography boundary would chime with what DS thought of the paper!

Don’t know about the maths because DS did the 9-1 spec and that’s not on there. Which seems odd...

Cblue · 22/08/2018 16:16

Yep the Edexcel IGCEs. If you look at the Pearson site the grade boundaries are there for examiner download and there seems to be a separate download for the 1-9s

Cherryburn · 22/08/2018 16:20

Cblue Ah right thanks, that would explain it. They do look about right to me (as well as the Geography boundary, Biology is relatively low and DS thought that was the hardest of the sciences) but who knows...

BlueBelle123 · 22/08/2018 16:37

Reservoir DD found those cheap foldaway chairs really useful for Reading, plus I believe its not far from quite a few shops as they went there for toilets ect. I'm sure he'll have a fab time!

BlueBelle123 · 22/08/2018 16:39

Well I am clearly the worst internet searcher as I can't found any leaks of boundaries for any boards, where are all you lot getting this information from!!!???

ReservoirDogs · 22/08/2018 16:40

CBlue Cherryburn - how are you accessing them?

ReservoirDogs · 22/08/2018 16:47

You are such teases!!!

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 22/08/2018 16:49

I was wondering that!

Cherryburn · 22/08/2018 16:49

Reservoir someone put a link to them on TSR (Chickenhead, about halfway down!) Don’t want to link the actual doc in case I get arrested!! (Runs away...)

ooh thanks

CraftyGin · 22/08/2018 16:58

It’s one more day to wait - just be patient.

veiledsentiments · 22/08/2018 16:58

I have two in the house tonight. Youngest and the Bfriend. Hoping to get rid of one. Not the youngest obs.

Cherryburn · 22/08/2018 17:00

Crafty where’s the fun in that?!
