Thinking of you mmmz I am a similar distance away from my parents and have been in the position of getting that call that suddenly makes your world lurch sideways. It's very hard and it never happens at a convenient moment. Hope you can get some clarity about what's going on soon.

TerfTerf2 · 21/08/2018 18:30

Hugs mmmz, it's the thing you don't think will happen 😕 Hope you can get to see her before too long, I'm sure she'd be glad of that even if tests prove not as serious as first though.

Oratory1 · 21/08/2018 18:36

If you did have to leave in a hurry from what you have been saying it sounds like dh is supportive of your ds and knowledgeable about the process - not sure my dh knows what subjects they are doing or what a levels they want to do. hopefully it wont come to that

veiledsentiments · 21/08/2018 18:39

Yes, sorry to hear mmmz. Tough times ahead. Have been a bit the same all year. PIL come and stay twice, two months at a time. MIL fell in April, and didn't leave the house until they left 6th June. It was really hard work. Especially with youngest doing GCSEs. All the best for a positive outlook.

mmmz · 21/08/2018 18:46

I'm distracting myself from waiting for the phone to ring with grade boundaries. I was going to try to avoid this because I thought it would be more stressful but now it's the better option.

So, look away now anyone who doesn't want to know about grade boundary chat! (I think it's a bad idea, but the rest of this post is for those who disagree).

There's someone on Twitter who I think is a teacher or something because they claim to gave access to grade boundary info and to publish it earlier. I think they did leak it early last year, so there is a track record. S/he is called Spookeder and that's what to search on Twitter if you want to see them tomorrow.
Also they seem to trawl the web collating other leaks ( or fake leaks). They've found one for OCR.

mmmz · 21/08/2018 18:48

Yes, DH can and would take over. I want to be there, but if I can't then I know they will manage fine without me. DH had better make sure that he tells me the results immediately though - no waiting an hour or two until it's a quiet moment!!

Oneteen · 21/08/2018 19:07

There are some OCR links floating around but not sure how credible and cannot see Computer Science :

Really sorry to hear about your DM mmmz, we had similar except it was Christmas Day, it suddenly felt very wrong to even smile until we knew exactly what we were dealing with.......

Sostenueto · 21/08/2018 19:21

Prayers and hugs on way to .mmzz and hopes for a speedy recovery for milFlowers

cubscout · 21/08/2018 19:22

(((mmmz)))

Interesting to read about how marking works. Ds had an anxiety dream that he got a low grade in RS because there were not enough RS teachers to mark and they had to use primary teachers who didn't understand his answers...Smile

Don't know why he's invested in RS!

eaglefly · 21/08/2018 19:34

We've done one OCR exam but it's a 9-1 and that is not in that link.

Dickybow321 · 21/08/2018 20:14

I'm sorry to hear that mmmz

AlwaysHid1ng · 21/08/2018 20:21

@mmmz Flowers

We’re here to listen, if it helps in any way.

I’m so sleep deprived, I can’t think straight! Really need this anxious time over and done with so we know what we’re facing.

I am keeping up with everyone’s news, but I’m just too tired to acknowledge you all individually - I do apologise!

sandybayley · 21/08/2018 20:35

@eaglefly - is the OCR exam Latin? I couldn't see it in that list. DS1 school suggested 93 / 85 / 78 / 70 / 60 at mocks so I'm expecting high boundaries for that one.

goodbyestranger · 21/08/2018 20:38

Sorry to hear about your mother mmmz. Especially difficult when you're not nearby.

Oneteen please can I give you an Oscar for quite the most awful link I've ever opened on MN, albeit after a Peroni. And why are there no number as opposed to letter grades?

Goodbyestranger not all grades are 9-1 - 8 out of 10 of my DD's exams are letters .... I'll gladly except the Oscar though.

That is the raw data which I assume has been picked up from some file ...its obviously not in a nice format but if anyone has sat OCR A-G exams it maybe of help to someone.

Sostenueto · 21/08/2018 21:24

Well all you lovely, supportive people this week has flown by and no matter what the results for our DC will be ( I'm sure they will be awesome) the dc could not have more supportive parents as you all have been. Flowers
Now our DC go onto the next stage of their lives in but a few hours time and we will look back on this time remembering our support of each other, our moans and groans and worries, trials and tribulations yes, but more importantly the resilience, determination and effort put in by our DC which, I feel sure, will be well rewarded all round. We have watched our dcs grow up in the last year or two and everyone should be proud of their DC and themselves for getting through such a stressful time and each one of you have become very dear cyber friends to me. We should carry on with our thread and see our DC reach 18 and onto the next stage of their lives.
So here's a toast to all with a scone in one hand and a g&t in the other !Flowers

KingscoteStaff · 21/08/2018 21:27

No Geography on that OCR link - went straight from Environmental and Land Based Sciences to Gujarati...

TheThirdOfHerName · 21/08/2018 21:30

Lovely post Sostenueto

sandybayley · 21/08/2018 21:30

I couldn't find a recipe for gin & tonic scones but I did find one for Gin and tonic truffles. I think it might be the answer to get us through tomorrow.

Maybe we can get the baking DD on the case?

Am toasting you sost and all others with a mug of wine by the Thames!’

TerfTerf2 · 21/08/2018 21:35

Cheers!! Lovely post Sost
Guess what in my cup....?
And that is my emotional support polar bear.

Been to boxercise class and swim, now sitting on patio enjoying warm night air - it's like being a raid bit without the cicadas and malaria Grin

JufusMum · 21/08/2018 21:36

Lovely post Sost thank you. We will all be proud of our DC and DGC come what may x

beenrumbled · 21/08/2018 21:39

mmmz thinking of you all.

DS still seems chilled, I've been looking at all the grade boundary chat and getting confused. Grin

He has been for a pre result haircut today and might actually shave tomorrow or Thursday.

We braved Dds and DS2 school uniform shops today, different shops but same level of hell. And we changed DS1 bank account to a young person current account so he is feeling very grown up.

I need to activate his bus pass and then he is good to go . The clock is ticking
