Oh no Alexander. Thinking of you all.

AlexanderHamilton · 14/06/2018 11:33

I’m glad it didn’t happen when Dd was alone with him. Man who runs caravan site said the episode was passing/he was improving by the time the paramedics arrived.

AlexanderHamilton · 14/06/2018 11:33

This is not how I imagined Dds final weeks at school/prom/Prize day etc planning out.

TheThirdOfHerName · 14/06/2018 11:37

AlexanderHamilton thinking of your DH (and you and DD).

AlexanderHamilton · 14/06/2018 11:45

He’s well enough to have texted me.

It’s an important week for Ds too as he’s in a show next week.

JufusMum · 14/06/2018 11:46

Sending love Hamilton hope your DH is ok x

AlexanderHamilton · 14/06/2018 11:48

Thanks folks. Subject to road closures we are almost there.

brainmelt · 14/06/2018 12:03

Oh no alexander so sorry. Is he on medication? After DH's episode (TIA) he was put on aspirin right away.

LooseAtTheSeams · 14/06/2018 12:34

Oh no, Alexander so sorry to hear about DH Thanks

Jinglebells99 · 14/06/2018 12:41

Thinking of you #alexanderhamilton. Gosh how frightening. Hope it gets under control.

beenrumbled · 14/06/2018 12:44

Thinking of you all Alexander

KittiesInsane · 14/06/2018 12:44

Thinking of you and your DH here too, Alexander.

mmzz · 14/06/2018 12:52

@AlexanderHamilton I hope its going to be ok. What a horrible thing to happen. Sending you both my best wishes. Flowers

Sostenueto · 14/06/2018 12:53

So sorry alexander I hope all will be OK and dh stabalises and swiftly heals. He simply has to rest and my prayers and thoughts to all of your familyFlowers

Sostenueto · 14/06/2018 12:57

Spanish edexcel feedback.....she recycled the presentation on recycling for one of the questions, obviously appropriately amendedGrin and she had just revised about theatre trips etc so another question in the bag and the translation appreny was about someone wanting to be a teacher but the pay wasn't a lot or something g on those lines. She never says she aced it but we did get a good instead of usual OK!

Bimkom · 14/06/2018 13:00

Been lurking on this thread for a long (long) time - but haven't posted as I felt like a bit of an imposter - because my DS is only sitting two GCSE subjects this year (he is Year 10) and both of those are on the old spec!!
So I kept telling myself it was to pick up tips for next year.
And the first two exams (Modern Hebrew) were OK because he has had an excellent tutor for ages, and was very confident.
But he has just gone off for his first Biblical Hebrew exam, and I am feeling like you all did when your DCs went off for their first exam. He is really nervous, - and so am I!!! and I think having a morning of study leave to mope around didn't help either of us. I don't get the impression that any of there mums in his class are paying any attention, but he has been really struggling with the grammer, and has been trying really hard.
Don't know how you have all been coping (or how I will cope next year!)

Sostenueto · 14/06/2018 13:06

Bimkom welcomeFlowers I have no knowledge of Hebrew but if you need support for exams and exam stress then your in the right place!

sandybayley · 14/06/2018 13:10

@AlexanderHamilton - thinking of you. What a shock for it to happen again but good that he was able to get help quickly.

@Bimkom - welcome. DS1 did a GCSE early and was very helpful in getting him to understand what he needed to do for Year 11. He's been very calm about the whole process this year as a result.

Sostenueto · 14/06/2018 13:15

Amendment on Spanish post of mine it was OCR board not edexcel!

mmzzmost of dgds friends don't finish till next week as they are doing German so they are off up to city the weekend after everyone finished. And she knows she's got to get home quick tomorrow cos we told her she's got dentist appointment yWink

brainmelt · 14/06/2018 13:24

Welcome bimkom we also did an early GCSE in y10 and I second what sandy said. It felt like a dress rehearsal and very useful.

HesMyLobster · 14/06/2018 13:28

Thinking of you Hamilton, sending lots of positive thoughts Thanks

Stickerrocks · 14/06/2018 13:39

Alexander It's not unusual, but it's frightening for you. Thinking of you all.

Thanks everybody. Today is the really scary one, as it is the unseen. At least the "seen" on Monday is a bit of a known quantity, but today it could be anything from any part of the Hebrew Bible (assuming a GCSE level, which is hard to gauge). And last year it was Job! DS was completely thrown in the mocks by that - Could not understand what Satan was doing at a feast, and performed well under expected grade. And he is hoping for better than expected grade (sigh) I just hope it is not another curve ball like that.

mmzz · 14/06/2018 13:54

Welcome, Bimkom.

DS and I were just talking about the first day of exams this morning. It was a month ago today, in the afternoon. A few had a morning exam that day, and everyone had to do the afternoon exam. He said everyone was really nervous. However, its funny how quickly you become accustomed to things. Now another exam is barely worth mentioning. Taking exams has become a normal way of life for Ds and the others in his class.

It’s the same at home. I couldn’t concentrate on anything when I knew DS would be in his first exam. In fact, the first week was hard, but now, I sometimes realise that he’s been in an exam for an hour or two and it’s the first I’ve thought of it.

A long post when I could have just said: you quickly get used to it!

ReservoirDogs · 14/06/2018 14:05

AlexanderHamilton hugs. Had he already had his MRI from the last TIA? If not get balshy and insist on one immediately! You may remember DH went through this during DS's mocks although DS still doesn't realise this was what it actually was!

SlinkyMe There is an app called WhatUni which I was recommended on MN where you put in the course you'd like to do as well as predicted grades and it will list the unis that will make offers based on those grades. It is useful for those who won't be highflying and also to work out insurance choices by putting in a lower set of grades.
