Alexander, she will keep playing and performing (and learning violin and piano) but she has really disliked the GCSE Music course due to all the composition and has no desire to study it for ALevels.

Her results all being up to scratch, she is going to be an Academic and Drama Scholar at her new school, so will have a lot of commitments with those spheres for the next few years. But she will play in the orchestra & chamber ensembles/sing in acapella groups etc... as she's done all through school. Gives her some sanity!

Will your DD pursue dance as a career?

ReservoirDogs · 13/06/2018 15:08

JugglingMummy busted! I suspect I will.need to name change again!!

hmcAsWas · 13/06/2018 15:09

Excellent super sleuthing Juggling

AlexanderHamilton · 13/06/2018 15:10

Whereas my dd has loved/excelled at composition but struggled rather with the analysis of the set works!

Yes she's hoping to pursue dance/MT as a career. Which reminds me, I have a mountain of financial paperwork to fill in for her DaDa (its government funded rather than coming from the school like her existing bursary so it needs to be accurate)

DaffoDeffo · 13/06/2018 15:17

farangatang dd did gcse music and didn't do it for A level (though I think there is a part of her that regrets that) but it's been such a fantastic thing to do as a hobby. She's sung in all the choirs and helped out with the school play. Also at university, there are loads of music related activities they can do on the side (which I hope will help her meet more people!). It's a great thing to have in your pocket!

JufusMum · 13/06/2018 15:24

Daffo I have a prom refuser here too! Saving me some money.

Hamilton glad to hear your prom is on. DD has studied dance for 14 years but doesn't want to pursue it as a career. I keep talking about retiring from comps when she finishes Sixth Form but she's having none of it saying she will compete at Uni! We'll see!
DD said Chemistry was good only four questions she wasn't sure about. It's I've of her weaker subjects so that's good enough for me.

Cblue · 13/06/2018 15:25

@ReservoirDogs- I wouldn’t have rumbled you. I was thinking number of med offers received rather than number of pupils receiving them:) Quite a few at DDs school got 4 offers
56 is more than the entire school year in 6th form 😊

ReservoirDogs · 13/06/2018 15:29

I am currently thinking of yet another username! Grin

TerfTerfTerf · 13/06/2018 15:30

Years ago I was in with several ladies at the hairdresser talking about their DC at private (primary) schools in Cambridge and generally boasting about their DH's jobs and their endless spa days etc. They positively sneered at me when I said DS was at local village school, so I airily said "oh we could easily afford to go private but I just can't be arsed to drive him there every day". There were a few cat bum mouths Grin

ReservoirDogs · 13/06/2018 15:31

I promise I am not a sneery Cats bummed mouthed Mummy!

TerfTerfTerf · 13/06/2018 15:32

NB we'd struggle to send kids private Grin but Cambridge traffic IS a nightmare

ReservoirDogs · 13/06/2018 15:34

Perhaps that can be my new user name

ReservoirDogs · 13/06/2018 15:35

We moved when DS started here yr 9. He can cycle to school in 3 mins. Lazy mum!

TerfTerfTerf · 13/06/2018 15:36

I might shorten them to CBMs cat bum mums. Theyre permanently discontented about life and their children tend to be spoiled monsters Wink

TerfTerfTerf · 13/06/2018 15:38

Oooh reservoir nice to live so close 👍 DS will be fighting with the train timetable come September

KittiesInsane · 13/06/2018 15:39

DD's verdict on Chemistry: 'Good thing I asked Anna what the flame test colours were just before we went in because it was on the first page!'

I think we owe Anna Flowers.

hmcAsWas · 13/06/2018 15:40

What about TarantinoTerrier ?

Stickerrocks · 13/06/2018 15:58

I've had a jolly nice time pottery painting with a client discussing business plans. Another thing to add to my list of post GCSE things to do with DD. Meanwhile she is revising Spanish. I asked her to translate something for me & she sounded quite convincing. Shame it's the Writing paper tomorrow!

I’m still confused if you’re talking about 56 offers or 56 applicants Reservoir! In DD’s year all the medics/vets got offers but there weren’t 56 of them!

LooseAtTheSeams · 13/06/2018 16:06

Alexander lovely to hear about your dd and performing - excellent news!
DS isn’t revising for physics - apparently he’s got all day tomorrow for that! His choice.
He is looking forward to a musical summer and we get to see him at Wimbledon this year - as one of many playing with the borough music service! The nice thing is parents get tickets for the outside courts so it’s a very enjoyable day out!

Teenmum60 · 13/06/2018 16:09

I'd love to do a hobby with DD...but I'm pretty useless at arty things ..we do go out to theatre (west end) quite a bit (only because I get cheap tickets)..she used to hate any form of hiking but since dofe likes it now...but I walk far too slowly for us to do that together! I'd love to do a jewelery making course but there doesnt seem to be anything local.

farangatang/hamilton you must be proud parents...DD was having a woe is me this morning because all the talented arty/sporty kids get a colour trim on their suit jackets for sixth form in recognition of high achievement - DD is not sporty/arty or musically high achieving - although she does Karate and plays instruments for pleasure.

Must get more work done ...I shall be burning midnight oil tonight.

Petalflowers · 13/06/2018 16:10

Just asked dc about chemistry, and the answer was Good! Considering this is probably his least favourite subject, and the rest of the exams were Ok or Alright, it was quite a surprise. Physics on Friday and then that’s it! (Apart from a-level exams next week)

ReservoirDogs · 13/06/2018 16:15

Cherryburn PM'd you

Teenmum60 · 13/06/2018 16:18

@LooseAtTheSeams We have tickets for Wimbledon via ballot (although they have not arrived yet Hmm ) I will looking at the musicians thinking which one is teen Loose.

mmzz · 13/06/2018 16:21

Feedback from edexcel chemistry (triple|): bit harder than paper 1. There were a couple of questions (something about cations and anions) that he had to guess at.
DS says whenever he feels like this about a test he has in class, he ends up getting about 80%. So, now i'm wondering what's 80%?? A 6/7 or 8? or lower?? Can't be a 9. Will somebody please tell me what ballpark 80% is in?!
