@terf...Hills is very highly regarded and so modern but I was overwhelmed (but impressed too) when we had a look around. DD staying put...at Indie, a nice school that develops all round skills and positive wellbeing I think she will totally flourish and begin flying without wings. She has really grown up during the exam period, matured so much in the last few weeks..she has set her own revision pace and it has worked - she hasn't lost focus although getting off the starting block was slow and frustrating. One immensely proud mum!

EdwinaLIzzard · 13/06/2018 12:34

AQA Chemistry Foundation was good according to DD, so that is a massive relief, she spent hours yesterday making up rude mnemonics to help her remember some of the topics!

Just two to go now - Classics tomorrow and then Physics on Friday

What will we do with ourselves!!

PeggySchuylar · 13/06/2018 12:34

Hmc my mind has started going over what else I might have done. I think it's inevitable as we come to the end of the marathon and our minds don't realise they can stand easy for a while.

Today I have worried

first that DD won't get the grades for her BTEC (at least 6 Bs)

Secondly that she'll do well and maybe we'll be letting her down if we don't send her to 6th form at local independent Confused

When my eldest was born my nan said, "Congratulations. You'll never be free from worry again."

You were right Nan

hmcAsWas · 13/06/2018 12:38

Peggy - thanks for that. Glad it nots just me! Its the worry ...and the guilt. They are never far away

Somewhereovertheroad · 13/06/2018 12:43

Anybody else doing CCEA Double Award Chemistry today. Ds found it very hard. He is hoping to do A level Chemistry so this could be an end to that. School requires an AA in double award for a science A level. Sad

TerfTerfTerf · 13/06/2018 12:54

Am I am rubbish mum for not really worrying about DS1 past August? My only definite aims for my kids were 5 good GCSEs inc English and maths, and to have straight healthy teeth (ie supervising braces and teeth hygiene) and decent table manners by the time they've got to 16. There's little chance of me having any real say in anything they do in life after that Grin Their mistakes are theirs to make but I know I've given them a good start, with which the world is their oyster. Some would say I have micro-managed them: I gave up my career for them so I feel like I've got a lot invested!

Cblue · 13/06/2018 13:15

Wise words TerfTerfTerf - you have it absolutely right Smile

Sostenueto · 13/06/2018 13:16

AQA chemistry triple ( higher) paper feedback, hard in places but doable. An OK paper whatever that means in teen language.

wineoclockthanks · 13/06/2018 13:19

OCR Chemistry was tricky but ok!

Make of that what you will Smile

DS is definitely demob happy, still got Spanish and Physics but motivation is draining away by the minute.

ReservoirDogs · 13/06/2018 13:52

CBlue yes DS School has done igcse Edexcel Chemistry but CIE igcse Biology and Physics too - wonder have we had the are we at same school conversation? The school said that they believe that these papers are best prep for sciences at A Level and as they had 56 medicine offers this year for the current A level cohort I believe they know what they are doing.

AlexanderHamilton · 13/06/2018 14:07

Lukas McFarlane is one of those dancers lots of dd's friends follow but she's not overly into herself. She's never done any classes at Pineapple but she has been to Danceworks and DanceXchange in Birmingham.

She's not actually planning on doing much dance over summer (first time ever no summer schools) apart from the odd Daniel Jones class (ex ENB) and she had to miss a Rosina Andrews workshop at half term as she was ill. She is planning on going to the gym a lot and getting back in shape.

Prom is on. We've managed to extend the caravan booking (dh needs to be in the area for an MRI scan next week anyway) so its going to mean some juggling and help from myparents but hair appointment booked (make up fully booked though)

No feed back from Chemistry yet.

TerfTerfTerf · 13/06/2018 14:23

Brilliant prom news alex Smile DS didn't want to go to his but now that he has a suit and a car he would be gutted if he couldn't go.

farangatang · 13/06/2018 14:32

Quite looking forward to conversations about Prom and holidays rather than revision and exams. Might even convince DD to wear some makeup!

Although, potentially Prom will be even more nerve-racking for DD than Maths, as she hates crowds, flashing lights and noise. However, she's been asked to sing a short set (she's flipping amazing!) and at the end of her Spanish exam tomorrow, she's attending a school awards ceremony where she's accepting an outstanding achievement trophy for her contribution to school music. I'mShe's a bit proud!

AlexanderHamilton · 13/06/2018 14:34

Thats fantastic farang.

I've just found out that dd has been invited to dance at a local Autism Pride event someone is organising (if school allow it).

Cblue · 13/06/2018 14:37

@ReservoirDogs - yes, lots of med acceptance at DDs school (many received several offer).
Are you in London by any chance?

EllenJanethickerknickers · 13/06/2018 14:40

AQA Chemistry was 'good' apparently. Better than biology on Monday, anyway.

I agree about the worry and guilt. It never seems to leave.

Only one left! Whoo hoo! Tempted to let DS have this evening off and go out for tea.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 13/06/2018 14:42

Your talented DC! Singing and dancing to the end of the exams. DS3 can play the flute for you. Only kidding Grin

farangatang · 13/06/2018 14:44

Alexander Grin That's AWESOME. Your DD is obviously fantastically talented - I've always wanted to be able to dance and have the utmost respect for anyone who can do it to any standard, let alone well enough to be at a specialist school and be asked to perform in public!!

DD will also be proud of the most recent performance cause Smile - surely school will allow it... Your DD is also on the spectrum, isn't she?

ReservoirDogs · 13/06/2018 14:47

CBlue pmd you

Cherryburn · 13/06/2018 14:49

56 medicine offers Reservoir? Shock I’m amazed that number in one cohort want to apply!

AlexanderHamilton · 13/06/2018 14:51

Well usually public performances in term time (not organised by school) are not allowed. But its quite an informal event so heres hoping.

Is your dd pursuing music post GCSE at all Farang?

ReservoirDogs · 13/06/2018 14:54

Cherryburn it is a superselective and many pupils come from science/medical backgrounds due to where we are. Also 50 Oxbridge offers as well.

Last year's A level results were 89% a*/a placing them 2nd in the country.

DaffoDeffo · 13/06/2018 14:54

ds refuses to go to his prom!

2 left to go (physics and further maths)

JugglingMummyof2 · 13/06/2018 14:59

56 medicine offers - my word - what school is this and why did I not send my DD there as she is determined to go that route?

JugglingMummyof2 · 13/06/2018 15:03

A quick search tells me it may be Perse Upper School - Cambridge which would be a bit of a commute for DD.
Gosh things like this make me worry that she will have such a giant hill to climb.
