Following on from the preparing for AS levels thread.

Hopefully everyone is finishing off AS exams.

My DD did a mixture of A levels / BTEC and it really suited her. She's on a great degree course now.

Bloody daft nanny state.

Horsemad · 08/06/2016 16:18

Another exam done and dusted. That's 80% done now! Smile

His last two are next week.

SugarPlumTree · 08/06/2016 18:44

Good the end of exams in sight for most of you. I really like the fact they can mix up A levels and BTEC and think that would be a shame to lose that.

DD has Maths GCSE resit tomorrow and is done for the year as BTEC all submitted. I do need to get her to sort out her lessons for September. Feels a bit of an experiment her doing this A level on her own but fingers crossed it will work out ok.

nuttymango · 09/06/2016 05:40

The mix of btec and a level seems like a good one, I hope it's not lost.
Ds has asked me to sign to say that he can drop biology now before they start the a level work, he hates it and doesn't want anything more to do with it. I've agreed because it gives him two free study sessions at college, he needs my signature to say it's ok.

LineyReborn · 09/06/2016 05:50

It's the dreaded Physics today.

nutty, What other subjects is your DS doing?

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2016 07:02

SugarPlum, good luck to your DD.
And good luck to all the Physics-takers.

I like the idea of being able to mix the two as well. And that might work for DS in two years, if they haven't scrapped the possibility.

HSMMaCM · 09/06/2016 07:07

Nutty - at DD's college they are not allowed to drop a subject until after results day. I think the theory is that they may change their mind if they get an A in a subject they hate and a U in a subject they love.

DD is doing a mix of A levels and btec. It works well for her.

Physics today. dd3 looks absolutely exhausted.

Good luck to the others.

dingit · 09/06/2016 11:52

Physics for Dd too, she was so vile to me in the car this morning, I was physically ( no pun intended) shaking walking round Aldi afterwards.

teta · 09/06/2016 12:25

Mine does that too Dingit. The trouble is there's no one else they can be as horrible to and get away with it.Your DD will have felt better after unloading her frustration Flowers.

HSMMaCM · 09/06/2016 13:03

Dingit - it's no help, but they do it to the ones who love them most. It's the only time they feel safe to vent.

Dingit Sad

I try to think of exam season as babysitting Godzilla for the sake of the nation. All the angst disappears after the exams.

ono40 · 09/06/2016 14:14

Little babysitting Godzilla on behalf of the nation - what a great line Grin

DS has gone off to do paper 2 in politics, he was so nervous that he was shaking getting out of the car. He realises what pressure he has put himself under by messing up paper 1. The exams officer said not to worry about candidate number but she did say they couldn't guarantee 100% that the marker would mark crossed out work. We will just have to hope for the best. I don't know about the DCs but I am exhausted!

LittleHoHum · 09/06/2016 15:16

AQA Physics pronounced brutal. On the bright side it doesn't count this year. Little Godzilla is fed up. She said she answered all but five marks but that they were tricky and not like the past papers (so she is not sure about her grade).

Social media seems to be awash with sad teens.

dingit · 09/06/2016 15:29

Just logged on to see if anyone reported back from physics, as I haven't heard from my little ray of sunshine, although Godzilla isGrin

Had lunch with a friend with a Dd going through the same, so great therapy.

The end is near, hang on in everyone.

dingit · 09/06/2016 15:34

Ah, according to Twitter Aqa made a mistake on the papers, and candidates had to cross through a question. Great start to an exam Angry

GetAHaircutCarl · 09/06/2016 15:35

DS had politics this afternoon. Said it was okay.

He still has some A2 maths papers to go.

DD has had this week off. Study leave but her exams finished the week before Hmm.

I'll be glad to get her back in school as she's doing my nut in. Nothing specific. She's happy as Larry but just ever present talking, talking, talking...

I'm used to having the place to myself!

ono40 · 09/06/2016 15:38

DS said the politics was great - so relieved for him. He has been catastrophizing about getting kicked out of sixth form, messing up his life, rant rant etc.

GetAHaircutCarl I work from home and have literally got nothing done in the last week. Roll on Monday until I have the place back to myself. I am presenting at two conferences at the end of the month so need to give myself a kick up the proverbial and write the damned talks!

GetAHaircutCarl · 09/06/2016 15:46

I've been struggling to work too ono and am on tight deadlines with a current project.

I'm meeting my agent next week and I really need to have a document for him that we're happy with.

LineyReborn · 09/06/2016 16:08

The last time I did any meaningful work was on Monday.

DS home and says Physics went well and his friend agreed. Thank goodness - the first paper was a disaster.

I need to check which board he did. My memory's collapsed.

LineyReborn · 09/06/2016 16:09

He did OCR Physics.

GetAHaircutCarl · 09/06/2016 16:13

DH has just called to say he will be working from home tomorrow!!!!!

All three of them here. Plus the cleaner. Fucking hell!

LittleHoHum · 09/06/2016 16:16

Is it too late for dd to swap to OCR? Sad

You need a shed at the bottom of the garden so that you can lock yourself away GetAHaircut.

LineyReborn · 09/06/2016 16:18

There's no escape. They just come knocking on doors asking what's for dinner.

GetAHaircutCarl · 09/06/2016 16:23

We are currently trying to get a new shed built.

And DH is having tomorrow off in part because Shed Man is coming over to discuss concrete bases.

So not only will I get no fecking work done, I will have to fake interest in where we are going to house the ping pong table Hmm.
