Hello everyone, new thread for the final push.

OP posts:
catslife · 20/06/2016 08:11

Am invigilating my final GCSE exam this afternoon which is Business Studies. Best wishes to all doing exams today.

marmiteloversunite · 20/06/2016 08:16

One more sleep!! History revision today and then last exam tomorrow. Good luck to everyone today.

NorbertDentressangle · 20/06/2016 09:29

One last exam tomorrow (General Studies) and then that's it!! Well, until DS does his GCSEs in a few years time anyway.

We went camping over the weekend and it was lovely to see DD and her friend with some colour in their cheeks again after being cooped up revising for so long.

I'm letting her sleep as long as she likes this morning as apparently tomorrows exam is not one you can revise for

NicknameUsed · 20/06/2016 09:55

Why do schools insist on General Studies? It isn't a qualification that universities are fond of.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2016 10:11

4 more sleeps. About to head off to pick up dd.
I'm so glad some people are still here :)

swingofthings · 20/06/2016 10:25

DD went to Further Maths quite cheerfully. She was looking at previous exams (something she's been on about not helping for all other subjects!) and said that she found the way the answers were explained very helpful and suddenly felt more confident about the exam.

We had to put our cat to sleep quite suddenly on Saturday morning, but she seems ok about it, or more likely it hasn't hit her fully yet.

Icouldbeknitting · 20/06/2016 10:36

I'm still here, I am sitting next to the first pile for the charity shop. DS had a new wardrobe and this has lead to a clearing out of boxed toys that he hasn't played with in at least six years. I suspect that this is phase one of at least six. The difficult thing is the Lego. He hasn't played with it in years and he's fine with it going but some of the sets are collectible now so I'd quite like him to be able to turn some of it back into cash.

He's rung up this morning about one of his volunteering opportunities so that ball is rolling now.

NorbertDentressangle · 20/06/2016 10:38

Nicknameused - I've no idea.

From what DD has said they seem to just see General Studies as "an extra GCSE" . They do an hour a week lesson but you don't have to revise for the exam as it's not that sort of subject Confused.

Personally I'm sure that hour a week could be better spent but that's because I don't imagine Universities see it as a "real" subject/GCSE.

HesMyLobster · 20/06/2016 10:39

Just heard from DD - further maths went "really well actually!" Shock

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2016 10:57

oh swing, I'm sorry :(

dd said the FM paper was good. Shes come home a happy bunny.

ExitPursuedByBear · 20/06/2016 11:06

I'm still lurking as your are all in my Active Convos. DD is away for a few days so it is strangely quiet here. Apart from the injured dog of course....

And looking after the horse. In the rain.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2016 11:07

How is your foot doing Exit?

Must be very odd to have it so calm and quiet after the last few weeks.

ExitPursuedByBear · 20/06/2016 11:20

Toe is still very painful and with the problem with my other ankle my walking is very difficult. The horse now lives in a field across a river which has to be traversed on foot. Fortunately I can now get my wellies on, but I must look a right sight hobbling across a rocky river bed with my walking stick and clinging on to the helpful piece of rope someone has tied across. I am bit worried as it has rained all night and morning so the river may be running higher than my wellies in which case the horse will not be fed later

Glad to hear that FM went well. When does your DD finish?

flatmouse · 20/06/2016 11:26

DS reported chemistry paper 2 went well (so I would hope, as it's his best subject!). Hope your DD found it ok raspberry. Just physics 2 on Wednesday morning for us. Attempting to persuade him to do past paper and notes based on previous past paper after lunch.
Currently DS sulking as I suggested that them heading to park en masse post prom was a daft idea as 1) local residents likely to call police, 2) difficulty in then getting from there to post prom party, and 3) I'm just generally not happy about it. I'm a killjoy aren't I? Thoughts please?

swingofthings · 20/06/2016 11:27

Happy bunny home after FM too. She said that some questions she passed the first time, but then when she went back to them, it all started to make sense and she thinks she got all but one question wrong. She was really buzzing.

Glad to read that most felt the same.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2016 11:49

That sounds really challenging Exit. It needs to get better.
Friday, woohoo! Although stress levels have rapidly dropped off since this mornings paper.

flatmouse. It really won't be fun if the police do end up being called. Can they not go straight to the after prom party? How surrounded by residents is the park?

swing, I think you meant she got all but one question right Grin otherwise she has a strange sense of pragmatism.

swingofthings · 20/06/2016 11:58

Ha ha, indeed, good thing DD is more diligent than I checking her answers!

Good luck exit, it doesn't sound like a challenge indeed. It's been raining hard down South last night and this morning, so hopefully not coming your way.

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 20/06/2016 13:12

DS1 also reports that FM was good. He really liked it and seems positively chirpy about it. It's the most talkative he's been after an exam.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2016 13:46

Prom excitement is starting here and after prom stuff party too, which dd is becoming reconciled to. Tentative questions have been raised in the friendship group about alcohol as most of them don't drink. dd has said she will take a range of non alcoholic drinks. I love the fact that she can be open about that in er group of friends without worrying about being judged.

I'm getting excited! I've decided I'm not feeling snobby about them having a prom, cos its just a word for a posh party for end of school. They have been together for 5 years so why not celebrate as they all go off in their own directions.

dds relief and excitement is contagious!

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 20/06/2016 14:23

DS flat our refuses to even consider going to the prom. There is no chance he'll be going, which is a shame but he's certain he doesn't want to go.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2016 14:29

dd was really very unsure for a long time.

ExitPursuedByBear · 20/06/2016 14:34

DD has been with some of her friendship group since she was 5!

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 20/06/2016 14:42

Apparently an event with pop music and dancing is literally DS's idea of hell. So no prom.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2016 14:55

Same with dd Exit. It's so odd that they will be going their separate ways now.

lol Step! dds too, but she is overcoming it to be with her friends who are generally a more sociable bunch.

needastrongone · 20/06/2016 15:32

DS had EdExcel Biology (3rd paper) today, said it was yes, 'fine', but had 'surprisingly little biology in it, considering it was a biology exam' Smile

3 left now Smile

History tomorrow, Chemistry Wednesday, then Physics Friday.
