Hello everyone, new thread for the final push.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2016 08:24

That sounds amazing Exit.
6 sleeps to go! insisted dd has a lie in then she can crack on with FM.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2016 08:29

just looked at the grade boundaries for FM. For an A you needed 82 out of 175 last year. Awesome. To get a C you needed 39. That's 22%

catslife · 18/06/2016 08:55

228agreenend Yes dd has DT Product Design a week Monday as well.
She is having a break over the weekend.

JWIM · 18/06/2016 12:00

Lots of luck and perseverance to DC still with exams to go.

GCSEs over here but school concert, Prom and singing exam still to fit in before heading off on holiday taking advantage of the early end of term for DS.

See you all for results day.

NicknameUsed · 18/06/2016 14:27

Our living room looks so much bigger and tidier now that all the revision books, notes and folders have been cleared away.

Icouldbeknitting · 18/06/2016 15:49

Yes, all our GCSE stuff has been "cleared away". That sounds much better than "stuffed in the recycling bin". There has been a plastic box in the corner of the dining room for two years which was fine when it all went in the box but it's been slithering out of the box for months.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2016 16:28

are yours keeping the notes for subjects they want to carry on studying?

dd has started clearing out her old school uniform. I had no idea someone could fit so many pairs of tights and socks into one drawer Shock

Icouldbeknitting · 18/06/2016 17:15

I did suggest that he might want to hang on to his English stuff but he looked at me as if I'd sprouted another head.

littledrummergirl · 18/06/2016 19:32

Ds1 isn't ready to get rid of his stuff yet. He says it represents 5yrs of work.
Maybe when he gets his results. Hmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2016 19:52

It turned into a mass clear out with even a few once cherished childhood items. Our bins are full and a trip to the charity shop is now needed.

Commented that the next time this happens it will probably be just before uni :(

derektheladyhamster · 18/06/2016 20:30

Thanks for the reassurance about further maths. I don't think he'd have been entered for it if he wasn't capable of getting a decent grade.

TheDrsDocMartens · 18/06/2016 23:33

Dd1 has kept her language stuff but not maths , just the revision guides.

boys3 · 19/06/2016 12:21

all over here (huge sigh of relief), best wishes to those with exams still to conclude in this coming week or the week after.

Lots of stuff now being cleared out. Hanging on to that for those subjects planned for A level, for the time being at least. Also to school blazer and tie - for those future schooldays themed parties :)

DS2 probably had plans for xboxing, xboxing, to be followed by more xboxing, however DS1 is dragging him down to the gym on a regular basis. Two days of sixth form induction the week after next, casually smart dress code so suits purchase can wait for quite a few more weeks. He also has some paid employment next week with the referendum.

Mysillydog · 19/06/2016 14:19

History for dd on Tuesday and then she is done. Work experience starts for her on Wednesday so not much of a break for her.

She had her leaver's party on Friday. Someone spiked the jug of coke so she came back a little drunk, but I don't think she had too much alcohol and she had a lovely time.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/06/2016 14:34

Dd has her guide blanket (she left a while a go). As well as all of her brownie and guide badges, I've sewn on various other badges. Her blazer badge will be going on there too.

TheSecondOfHerName · 19/06/2016 16:12

I am the opposite of a hoarder and tend to recycle/donate everything the moment it is no longer needed. I have been ITCHING to sort out DS1's GCSE books & papers since he finished five days ago. He says he'll do it himself but it's all STILL SITTING THERE!! I've given him until the end of June to sort it out, and he's agreed that I can do it if it's still there after that.

Icouldbeknitting · 19/06/2016 18:18

I'll be off to the charity shop tomorrow with the blazer and some old board games and then later in the week I'll be returning with the PE kit with the school logo and more board games. It seems like a good time for a turf out of unwanted items, with a good bedroom turf out now it should stand for another two years.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/06/2016 20:03

Me too TheSecond, except with books. I'm not so good with those. Thank fully dd was happy to have some thing akin to procrastination to do.

I'm a bit worried about her school bag though. It's awfully heavy for someone who just has one subject left. I wouldn't dare look inside!

TheSecondOfHerName · 19/06/2016 21:01

I used to hold on to books but have got much better in the last few years.

I've already found a Y10 doing CIE iGCSE sciences and OCR GCSE History, so managed to get rid of all the revision guides for those subjects.

I'm not sure what to do with the revision guides for Maths, English language and English literature, as they are specific to courses which will no longer be taught.

RalphSteadmansEye · 19/06/2016 21:20

Recycle them. Don't give to a charity shop revision guides which are redundant next year!

TheSecondOfHerName · 19/06/2016 21:29

Don't give to a charity shop revision guides which are redundant next year!

Exactly. I wouldn't want a future student to pick them up thinking that they were current.

RalphSteadmansEye · 19/06/2016 22:09

I'm sure you wouldn't have.

When I see out of date revision stuff in charity shops I want to buy it all and throw it away but I can't always afford to do so!

RalphSteadmansEye · 19/06/2016 22:10

(But I do move adult fiction out of the children's sections...)

HesMyLobster · 20/06/2016 07:09

Huge good luck to all doing Further Maths this morning, especially to the dcs dreading it as much as my DD!

Have a lovely lie in and relaxing day to all the Dc who finished last week - can't beat that alarm-free Monday morning feeling! Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/06/2016 07:43

Good luck today everyone :) if in doubt factorise! Grin and don't forget if you see algebra in a matrices - simultaneous equations are your friend.
