Hello everyone, new thread for the final push.

OP posts:
marmiteloversunite · 09/06/2016 08:47

Good luck to all today with maths. We have calculator and back up calculator ready.

I think it is funny how a simple phrase of "It was ok" now fills me with worry. Often when I dig further it means it actually was ok but I much prefer the bouncing child full of the questions she answered well.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/06/2016 09:07

All will be well Knitting. And of course they can take it again. Silly school trying to scare.

hewl · 09/06/2016 09:30

dd was much more cheerful about maths this morning which doesnt make much sense as she is actually terrible at maths with a calculator Grin

I'll be glad when I don't have to get up and cook bacon sandwiches every day.

Icouldbeknitting your ds sounds like dd

Am hoping and praying for a C

janinlondon · 09/06/2016 10:13

In 33 minutes DD will NEVER have to do math, ever ever ever again. I cannot tell you the joy this will bring her....

raspberryrippleicecream · 09/06/2016 10:39

Icouldbe it will be fine. School gets a bit OTT.

And I'm sorry about your in-laws you mentioned in a previous post. We have similar

flatmouse · 09/06/2016 10:57

I only ever get "alright" or "OK" - this in txt so i can't hear the inflection on the voice. I tend to ask "alright positive or alright negative". Luckily/fortunately/optimistically everything has been "alright positive" so far (athough not hear for maths calc yet).

Travelledtheworld · 09/06/2016 11:10

My very capable son just sent me a message to say Edexcel Calculator Maths was
" Easy".
Hope all your children were as confident .
[Grin]

needastrongone · 09/06/2016 11:21

Yep, DS found this easy too, and he has consulted his boffin friends who all got the same answers.

It does depend on your perspective though. DS's mate, who I dropped off is less capable at maths by his own admission, and found it 'ok, not great, but ok'.

Was quite proud of DS who agreed with his mate in the car, then told me afterwards he had found it easy. Smile

Hope you are all positive too about this one.

BitOutOfPractice · 09/06/2016 11:23

Oh! DD said it was "alright" but "not as good as the non-calculator paper"

swingofthings · 09/06/2016 11:31

Same here, just got text 'it was sooooo easy!'

hewl · 09/06/2016 11:33

fingers crossed for dd then!

swingofthings · 09/06/2016 11:34

Just added that she thinks she might get 100%, which considering she is not normally over confident about her results is quite likely.

I do hope most found it easier than anticipated.

swingofthings · 09/06/2016 11:35

janinlondon, that made me laugh, Maths really is like Marmite!

TheSecondOfHerName · 09/06/2016 11:40

DS1 felt the Maths paper was... you guessed it... "OK"

He was able to answer all of it apart from the last two questions (worth 11 marks out of 100). Together with the non-calculator paper, hopefully he'll get the A he needs.

TheSecondOfHerName · 09/06/2016 11:41

Was quite proud of DS who agreed with his mate in the car, then told me afterwards he had found it easy. That shows both maturity and empathy. Well done him.

Icouldbeknitting · 09/06/2016 11:44

I took my phone with me when I went to walk the dog in case there was a need for counselling by text but all is quiet. This either means that Edexcel maths was "fine" or that he hasn't been able to get to the sweet spot in school where there is some phone signal. They will come straight out of maths into a four hour science revision session so it will be lunchtime before I hear from him (if at all). I'm glad your children seem to have had positive experiences this morning, I'm hoping mine has too.

Next up - biology and music on fish and chip day. This is significant because with an exam right after lunchtime he can go to the front of the lunch queue. I am big on emphasising the positives. Four hours science revision? - yes but at least you'll miss PE. Two exams - yes but you get served before they run out of the good stuff.

BitOutOfPractice · 09/06/2016 12:00

i'm even more worried now. DD definitely didn't find it "easy" Sad

I won't mention this tonight though she has started asking "what are they all saying on MN?"

starfleet · 09/06/2016 12:03

Edexcel Maths this morning was "alright". That could mean very good or appalling in DS's language - who knows.

He wants to take Maths at A Level so he needs decent grade.

2 x Biology papers tomorrow.

swingofthings · 09/06/2016 12:07

I won't mention this tonight though she has started asking "what are they all saying on MN?"
Definitely don't. It doesn't mean anything, all have different expectations of achievement and a 'great' can be an 'ok' for another.
What is done is done is what it comes down to for all of them!

hewl · 09/06/2016 12:12

Well dd has never in her life found a maths exam easy and I doubt she is going to start now! I just hope she didn't find the first 8 questions too taxing as those are normally OK.

BitOutOfPractice · 09/06/2016 12:19

No. I won't.

FantasyAndHope · 09/06/2016 12:23

Better reaction for maths here! DD said it was a good paper
Seems to be paper2's of everything DD is doing better in.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/06/2016 12:44

waiting for dd to come home after science revision.

for those that didn't find it easy, don't worry, it sounds like we have some confident mathematician dc represented here. That usually isn't a good indicator for the majority of people.
