Basildonbond, looks like our boys will be neighbours! Ds heard today he got his first choice hall at Exeter, Pennsylvania Court, he is v happy.

Firstly well done to everyone's dd/ds.
DD is waiting on a priority remark, for A2 French . Just wondered if anyone else was waiting and if they had heard anything? It is for the oral, she got A* in the Mock and a very low C in that paper and so missed her predicted A by 6 UMS. She thought she had done well, so was a surprise, she had though it would be in her oral that she would get the best mark.
I not sure what happens with an Oral remark or when we should hear. Luckily she is still in at her 1st choice, but she is obviously a little disappointed. Any thoughts?

Antaresisastar - Pennsylvania Court looks a bit more appealing than ds's block - but frankly wherever he is will look like a pit within days if the current state of his room is anything to go by Hmm

NiceCardigan · 27/08/2015 19:54

How is everyone doing? DS finally managed to pass his driving test so I'm very glad he's got it out of the way before starting uni.

Abraid2 · 27/08/2015 20:14

Still waiting for a priority remark of one AQA paper. Two weeks now, but perhaps the exams officer didn't submit it on results day.

Horsemad · 27/08/2015 20:33

That's taking a while Abraid2, is there a Uni place on hold because of it? Don't they have to be done by 31st Aug for Uni places?

Horsemad · 27/08/2015 20:34

Congrats to your DS NC, it's so lovely when they can go off in the car on their own Smile

Abraid2 · 27/08/2015 21:11

Rejected by both firm and insurance. Insurance might have taken him post remark, but wouldn't guarantee, so we thought stuff them and went with the university which would have been joint-second / third choice, if that was allowed! Same initial offer and similar rank in the subject.

I suppose we could have changed from priority to non-priority remark when my son got the offer but he couldn't face going back into school and seeing the exams officer again, so we just left it. When we paid for priority we didn't know he would get the new offer.

Horsemad · 27/08/2015 21:52

Glad he's sorted and not dependent for it for his place. If his grade goes up do you get a refund of the fee?

Abraid2 · 27/08/2015 22:06

I haven't even dared to think about a refund! Seems like tempting fate, but I believe so.

Abraid2 · 28/08/2015 13:11

Remark back, went up eight UMS points, one UMS short of an A across the papers. Agh! So near and yet so far away. At least we know it was a harsh mark first time round in that particular paper, which he felt had gone well at the time.

Horsemad · 28/08/2015 18:34

What subject was that Abraid? Very frustrating to be so close to the A but also just shows how random some marking is. One of DS's friends had similar this year but luckily scraped the A to get into her Firm.

Abraid2 · 28/08/2015 19:58

AQA Philosophy.

lalamumto3 · 29/08/2015 11:21

Hi Abraid, glad to hear it went up, but so sorry was one Mark short, I am sure it will give his confidence a boost.

We are still waiting on dds remark.

Abraid2 · 29/08/2015 16:03

Good luck, lala!

lalamumto3 · 02/09/2015 11:02

DD got her remark back, it has stayed the same, slightly disappointed but also relieved that it did not go down :).
