Panic over, both DTs got their first choices. DT2 didn't get the grades but got offered anyway (Cardiff too Norks)
Just to check if it says 'congratulations' it means you're in doesn't it?

I'm crying and laughing at the same time.

Well done to all the DCs and hang on in there for those who are disappointed.

Cooroo · 13/08/2015 08:52

Well done everyone who's got into their first choice!

Decorhate · 13/08/2015 08:54

Dd got AAB. Is getting the chemistry remarked (missed the A by 4 marks). Will phone her firm as soon as she can to see what they say

Cooroo - also sending good wishes your way. Fingers crossed for you.

bigbluebus · 13/08/2015 09:02

DS has been accepted at Queen's Belfast. He dropped one grade from his offer - although thankfully in the subject not important to his course - and looking at Grade Boundaries he only just missed the higher grade.
Now the hard work really begins Grin.

muffinmonster · 13/08/2015 09:05

DD woke at 5.30 and results came through from the school at around 6am - CCC. She was convinced it was game over until she checked track at 8am and found her firm have accepted her.

So we're happy but she's disappointed by her grades. She's talking about retaking! Says she doesn't want those grades following her round all her life.

I'm sure it will wear off. Hmm

hellsbells99 · 13/08/2015 09:09

Tell her to be happy Muffin - once she has her degree (and from her 1st choice!) her A level grades won't matter at all (unless it's something like law).

JugglingFromHereToThere · 13/08/2015 09:17

Exciting times for many
Congrats to those who know the next stage of the journey now
Thinking of those who're not yet sure what it will be

(DD waiting on GCSE results this time next week - but away on NCS programme this week so has been lots going on to take her mind of it. And anyway as she says there's no point worrying)

Good luck especially to those looking in clearing and/or talking to Uni's today

FartyTette · 13/08/2015 09:24

DD has just phoned (insisted on driving in herself to collect the results) Now - a bit of back story. this time last year was a disaster. She'd been predicted As and Bs, but came out with CCDD at AS. She was completely distraught. Roll forward a year - she retook 4 papers alongside her A2s, and has worked SO BLOODY HARD all year. She decided that a gap year would be sensible (because of course you can only retake in June now, so she wouldn't get a look in at Newcastle where she's set her heart on), and has made some sensible plans for the year.

She's got ABC! I am SO SO proud of her! I know how hard it is for DCs (and parents) with the whole results day shebang when things don't go to plan - it seems as if every other student has a string of As and Bs. DD wouldn't tell anyone her results for a few days last year - she needed to process them herself and come to terms with them. I honestly think that last year's shock has been a huge wake up call for her. She's become much more focused and determined, and I am really proud of the way she picked herself up.

I am shedding a little tear whilst I do my ironing!

Cooroo · 13/08/2015 09:31

DD phoned Huddersfield (which we viewed and liked) and they have offered her a place on Psychology with Criminology. She's cheered up a lot and is beginning to think this will be better for her. Thank you clearing!

hellsbells99 · 13/08/2015 09:41

Great news Cooroo!
Well done to Fartytette's DD!

hellsbells99 · 13/08/2015 09:41

Off to take DD2 to school now for AS results.......

Molio · 13/08/2015 09:47

Wow that's harsh Decorhate - I really hope the college reconsiders. Those are fabulous results. Fingers firmly crossed for your DD.

Horsemad · 13/08/2015 10:01

Ok, DS got BBCD which to be fair are rubbish for what he wants to do. He missed firm and insurance and has had no luck with the other RG unis he's phoned this morning.
His firm have offered Chemistry so he's now considering doing that instead. Hmm

I'm concerned he's just accepting it because it's a RG Uni and a place and not because he really really wants to do that subject.

Many congrats to all who've got where they want to be, commiserations to those going through Clearing.
Still kind of in limbo here. Confused

MadameJosephine · 13/08/2015 10:01

Oh decorate that's such a shame. What fantastic results too! Are you going to try a remark?

Waitingaround · 13/08/2015 10:05

What uni's has your Ds contacted Horsemad?
i couldn't see many in clearing that were Rg and offering comp science-
Birmingham are but its with maths and although that's what my Ds got his A* in he doesn't want to do a degree in it. I know that Southampton are but as its our local he is also not keen

Cooroo · 13/08/2015 10:17

To anyone trying to add a clearing choice on UCAS Track - it all goes live at 5! Panic over...

Decorhate · 13/08/2015 10:23

Yes she's already done the forms for the priority remark & phoned her firm. Who apparently said they will reconsider once if the remark gets her the grade she needs.
Anyone know what we need to do about her insurance in the meantime? She will definitely go there if the remark is not successful

Bronwen11 · 13/08/2015 10:34

Be interested to know, too, about insurance. DS got into Cardiff, first choice, but the insurance uni has confirmed its offer. No indication of whether that would just drop now?

To all our DVs - well done, good luck, don't give up if things haven't gone as well as you hoped this year (DC re-took a year at another school and things couldn't look more different this year.)

horsemadmom · 13/08/2015 10:38

DS is off to Sussex! So delighted for him!

MrsUltracrepidarian · 13/08/2015 10:38

Decorhate - your DD very organised - well done!
How fast does the re-mark happen? Presumably all the scripts were scanned and so online and immediately accessible to the remarker(s)?

Decorhate · 13/08/2015 10:43

MrsU - you have to move fast as they won't hold places for too long. The deadline is 31st August I believe

Horsemad · 13/08/2015 10:53

Waiting - he's called Sheffield, York and Liverpool, (who are recruiting with BBB but because he has BBC it won't forward automatically to an admissions tutor so basically a 'No').

So, he either sits on his Chem offer until Monday and sees whether there are still vacancies in Comp Sci and if they'll reconsider, or rejects his Chem offer completely and looks in Clearing for a lower ranked uni for a Comp Sci vacancy.

It is frustrating here!!
