Thread continued for results day! Fingers crossed everyone.

Oh my, DS is going to UCL!!!!! He is so happy! Congratulations to all the dc who have worked so hard.

Even weirder, DS's firm are in Clearing for Comp Sci!!!
Is it a mistake do you think? Could they have typed Chem instead of Comp Sci?

Oh dear tears here - she's got into her insurance but she desperately wanted her firm. She's going to go in and get her actual results now.

Is there definitely nothing she can do to persuade her firm to accept her? Does the fact that her course is in clearing mean lots of people missed the grades, or they're undersubscribed? Will clearing require lower grades? So many questions - feeling a little confused

DD got her firm of Durham. Much relief here! Don't know results yet, off to school shortly and then they're hitting 'Spoons for a boozy breakfast

DH has driven him to school for his grades and then they'll come back to ring the Uni. I've texted him to tell him his Uni is in Clearing for Comp Sci.

Sorry to hear that pol. We ran through this very scenario last night and our plan was to check results and if he'd only missed by a small margin to ask for a priority remark and then ring his firm to let them know. If it was a big margin he said he would ring them and beg!

Ds son has done it! First choice confirmed on UCAS. Don't know what his grades are yet as school doesn't open until 9.30am

DD has got her first choice! They have accepted her with 1 grade lower - she is very happy!

Thanks for the tip about track opening early -checked it and it looks like dd is off to exeter so not so worried about going into school to pick up the results now!

Yessssss. Ds confirmed place at Northumbria to study physics. Don't know his grades yet but confirmed on UCAS or whatever. Tears of joy x

Yes I think she should ring anyway myself I mean what has she got to lose? Unfortunately she's not very good at that sort of thing and I not allowed to do it obviously (I wish I could) so I predict a few more tears, especially as her friends seem to have got their firms.

She's fighting tears and re-applying to Sheffield through clearing. Then she'll call other options. Very disappointing, she thought she'd done better.

DD woke DS up to get him to check online.
He got into his first choice, Cardiff for Maths, hooray.

He is being even more relaxed about going in for results now.

Oh, Coo, that is such a worry.
We went through this with DD and she is now having a brilliant time at a different uni. The shock has receded (two years on), but it was a horrible day
