I'm just gonna tell myself its a good thing! Aaaargh. And we've got GCSE results next week but dd couldn't give a monkeys and did very little work so anything will be a bonus!

Waitingaround · 12/08/2015 19:28

Neither of Ds's courses are in clearing- I feel sick...

Horsemad · 12/08/2015 19:46

Hope he gets in at one of them Waitingaround.

The wine's kicking in here now!

mrsrhodgilbert · 12/08/2015 19:47

Another lurker here with dd2 expecting results. Her firm choice is in clearing and she is convinced it is her place, which she has missed. There could be many reasons for a course to be in clearing, I'm trying not to think of bad reasons. Rejecting that unconditional offer isnt looking like such a good idea now. Quite a week here, dbil died last night so we have had many tears already. Thank goodness for the distraction of GBBO. Good luck everyone.

Horsemad · 12/08/2015 19:50

Flowers mrsrhodgilbert, what a stressful time for you.

Acatcalledfluffy · 12/08/2015 19:57

Ha. Just twigged what GBBO is! Just as well I'm not applying to uni myself!

Cooroo · 12/08/2015 20:01

Very late here. I don't know what grade boundaries are and am afraid to google it. But I have downloaded the Telegraph Clearing app. DD Hoping for AAB or ABB to go to Sheffield. But she's finally announced a plan B of Huddersfield which did made her an offer. I just hope she's got the grades because we aren't well prepared for what to do!

Is anyone going into school with their DC? She says I must wait outside but I think I'd throw up! She is a wonderful girl and I am proud of every inch of her, blue hair, nose ring and all. I keep telling myself A levels are not the be all and end all.

GypsyFloss · 12/08/2015 20:10

We're GBBO'ing too. DD is playing a GBBO drinking game and I'm sticking to lady grey tea!

I'm going to school Cooroo . I'd rather not be there to be honest but she's asked me to. Unfortunately I've got to go straight to work once the results are known so her dad is going to pick up the pieces and sort her out if it's not a positive result.

MrsBartlet · 12/08/2015 20:17

We are going to the car park near school! Dd is going into school with a friend and we will be nearby in case it is bad news, in which case parents normally go into school to talk through options with their dc and staff. We live a 25 min drive away from school so she wants us nearby, just in case.

AtiaoftheJulii · 12/08/2015 20:32

We'll be outside. Dd1 will be going from her house sitting house, but she's asked us to meet her outside school.

And then we'll be driving over to dd2's school so she can get her AS results Smile

SugarPlumTree · 12/08/2015 20:44

Popping in with Wine and Cake to wish you all luck and hope you get some sleep.

So if the uni and course are on the list when clearing has been clicked does that mean its in clearing? If so does that mean spaces on that course?

poisonedbypen · 12/08/2015 22:40

Yes. what else could it mean??

lightgreenglass · 12/08/2015 22:40

DB gets his results tomorrow and I feel really nervous for him, possibly more nervous than when I did my A-Levels. He's currently in Amsterdam so my DDad will find out his results for him over the phone for him to celebrate or drown his sorrows.

Good luck to everyone.

Happy36 · 12/08/2015 22:57

dontwanttobefatandforty Yes. The courses that are not in Clearing don´t appear. If it appears after you have selected Clearing 2015 then it is in Clearing.

Look on the tab "Entry requirements", then choose A Levels, and see whether the entry requirements are the same or lower as the offer your child has. (If they are lower, then they will probably accept him or her if they have missed their offer but achieved the required grades that are shown on Clearing).

Happy36 · 12/08/2015 22:58

lightgreenglass Good luck to your brother. I was in Amsterdam this morning, great city!

dontwanttobefatandforty · 12/08/2015 23:06

Happy, thank you, her course is in clearing with entry requirements the same. She is concerned with grade boundary's being high. Just want tomorrow to come now so we know one way or the other.

Acatcalledfluffy · 12/08/2015 23:29

A final good luck and goodnight to everyone. Sleep as well as you can and let's just see what tomorrow brings. All the best Smile

FuckyNell · 12/08/2015 23:42

Oh god I can't cope!!

Mindgone · 12/08/2015 23:45

Good luck everyone! The not-knowing will be over at least! Night night

Horsemad · 12/08/2015 23:46

Good night everyone, and GOOD LUCK!!!

dontwanttobefatandforty · 12/08/2015 23:49

It's too hot so don't think I will be getting any sleep tonight along with all this taking over my thoughts. Im just so worried for her as she really really wants this.

Cooroo · 13/08/2015 00:10

Good night! I wish I'd done more research!

AmazingDisgrace · 13/08/2015 00:14

We're just back from the States, horribly jet lagged after the flight from hell (Never fly Virgin Atlantic Economy without extra leg room!)
We had sad family news while we were away but that's not for this thread...We are staying up for another hour to see if any emails arrive
