Welcome , Library.
What we wouldn't give in this house for an unconditional offer right now!

heronsfly · 12/08/2015 12:21

Can I be a late joiner too please ? My dd is beside herself today, going through so many scenarios, I just wish the waiting was over so that whatever the outcome we can 'proceed with knowledge' and plenty of Wine and Cake

muffinmonster · 12/08/2015 12:31

Welcome thelibrary and heronsfly. Envy at unconditional offer.

I don't think I want to know about the grade boundaries.

I have already been overdoing the Wine and Cake. Yesterday was a bad day as I reminded myself of the reality of DD's grades over the past year and the unlikelihood of her meeting her offer. Feeling calmer today.

She is busily planning a gap year incorporating a trip to Thailand. Why can't I run away to Thailand?

TheLibraryIsOpen · 12/08/2015 12:34

I didn't realise that unconditional offers were so rare, my DD told me that it was but I didn't think about it. My problem now is the realisation that he will actually be leaving home. My Amazon basket is full but I wont press order until the results are in :)

Hi TheLibrary and heronsfly. Welcome. Misery loves company. Wine Wine

Could I join too please?? My DS has an offer for maths at Warwick and thinks he'll have missed it because of the STEP paper... All a bit down in the mouth here.

Cake definitely needed with a Wine chaser!!

Good luck everyone!

MrsBartlet · 12/08/2015 13:14

Welcome to all the new joiners.

I looked at the grade boundaries but I am not sure how helpful they are given that dd has done all essay subjects. Feel sick every time I think about tomorrow. Just want to get on with it now! Good luck to all!

JWIM · 12/08/2015 14:17

DD has decided not to look at the grade boundaries although some of her friends have. She has been doing lots of distraction activities - and out this evening and a variety of programmes to watch if she can't sleep tonight. Has already checked the college online results page and it has changed from her AS results to pending A2s. Online results from 6 am 'ish' tomorrow morning she thinks.

Really ready here to just deal with what 'is' rather than what 'might be'.

NiceCardigan · 12/08/2015 14:51

DS told me earlier that I shouldn't worry and he'll be ok whatever happens. Shouldn't it have been me saying that!

Littleham · 12/08/2015 14:59

Hope it works out well Dapper. Welcome. Wine

That is so sweet NiceCardigan. Smile

Have you seen the weather forecast? Hope people don't have long journeys to pick up results.

OMG, DD has texted me to say her course in in clearing at CCC. (Original offer range is ABB-BBB; her offer is BBB with some hope of flexibility.)

Does this mean they're desperate? Is this a bad course?

cathyandclaire · 12/08/2015 15:42

I think that's great Muffin, means they are likely to accept her with dropped grades :)
She's already looked at the course and liked it.

muffinmonster · 12/08/2015 15:43

I mistyped; her offer is ABB with some hope of flexibility.

It does look hopeful, doesn't it?

SheHasAWildHeart · 12/08/2015 15:44

I worked on Clearing for a university and although there is flexibility on the entry requirements I am surprised that it's dropped that much.

muffinmonster · 12/08/2015 15:46

It's a new course. Brand new last year and they took their entire intake (I think aout 8-10 people) through clearing. This year I believe they are aiming to take about 30.

Leeds2 · 12/08/2015 15:49

I think that is good news for your DD, Muffin.

SheHasAWildHeart · 12/08/2015 15:50

Maybe because it's a new course they aren't getting the number of applications they expected. If your DD is happy with the uni and the course then she should go for it. And if its dropped to CCC then she should be ok even if she drops her grades. Good luck!

Littleham · 12/08/2015 15:59

My dd's subject at York is showing up on their website as a 'department with opportunities' under the clearing and adjustment title.

Wonder what that means? Confused

What is everybody planning to do this evening to distract from the angst?
I think DD and myself will watch GBBO with a glass of wine. DD will probably go and skype friends while I watch OBEM and continue with the wine Grin

Horsemad · 12/08/2015 16:34

Think I'm going to eat chocolate to try and keep myself calm sassy!

Waitingaround · 12/08/2015 16:48

Hi
Just signing in again in prep for tomorrow.. Good luck to all Flowers

AtiaoftheJulii · 12/08/2015 16:49

Bake Off I imagine, and chocolate sounds good Smile No Wine because I had quite a bit last night and then a friend arrived for lunch today with a bottle! So had a couple of glasses (and heard far too many details about her sex life!) which was definitely a good distraction, but now I've got a headache and there's nothing for dinner ....

If it's clear later, will be doing some Perseid-watching - wondering whether to just stay in our back garden, where we have seen them fine before, or drive out of town a bit in pursuit of a better view.

Decorhate · 12/08/2015 17:02

Good luck to all your dc's for tomorrow.

Littleham · 12/08/2015 17:04

I'm going out with friends for a meal which should be a good distraction.

DD2 is currently cooking a full roast meal for the rest of the family. Smile

Well I feel sick and I'm a bit emotional. I hope Ds has done enough to get in but I'm a bit doubtful. Good luck everyone.
