Ha ha TWF Grin

TheWordFactory · 02/06/2015 15:24

DS reports that Latin was 'fine'.

Apparently 'some dude called Scipio kidnapped some woman and her dad bailed her out.'

So there you have it!

dingit · 02/06/2015 15:28

I'm not sure what RE was like I only got a grunt. Add. maths tomorrow then thats it for the week thank goodness.

dingit · 02/06/2015 15:31

Twf, I think your dd should have passed with that single sentence Grin

JugglingFromHereToThere · 02/06/2015 15:32

dd had another tricky for her exam with the English for similar reasons to yesterday's History
We cheered ourselves up with a LIDL shop using our 50 of LIDL vouchers courtesy of the LIDL Easter thread - so that was a very nice bonus Smile
Geography tomorrow so lots more to cram (or so dd feels) but at least it's in the afternoon which takes the pressure off our mornings and gives more time for more productive revision I think

bebumba · 02/06/2015 15:43

Ds has German and Geography tomorrow, these are his first exams since the Friday before half tem and will take him to the halfway point. His revision this afternoon is slightly delayed as he is currently sprawled on the sofa muttering about the unfairness of a potential heatwave during the exam season and having to sit in a stinky sports hall with hundreds of sticky people!

Horsemad · 02/06/2015 16:06

Add. Maths and Geog here tomorrow. Can hear DH (Mathematician) going over some stuff now with him.
Feel a bit sorry for my boys, DH takes it personally if they don't do well in Maths.

Stopped en route home after English to treat DS to an ice cream from our fave shop - that could easily become a habit!! Grin

SugarPlumTree · 02/06/2015 16:12

Japanese went pretty well by the sound of it which is big relief as is one of 'the 5'.

Littleham · 02/06/2015 16:19

Great SugarPlum. Smile

Your poor dd Juggling - she seems to have an exam every day at the moment.

German and Additional Maths tomorrow for my dd. She wants to take these two subjects at A Level. And guess what? Yes - they are shutting our road AGAIN. Why couldn't they do it in half term? Angry

bebumba · 02/06/2015 16:23

Oh no Littleham! They were probably all off at half term helping their kids revise! Ds is looking to do German and Maths amongst his A levels too. Good luck to your Dd for tomorrow.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 02/06/2015 16:36

Thanks Littleham - yes she does have one every day this week and next - but then she's finished. And at least it's one subject a day (before H/T there was the odd day with two subjects)
Last couple have been a bit disappointing as not every question attempted which is always a shame. But they're still going better than the mocks I think where she really had some big timing issues. And really she did OK in those - well enough for everything she wants to do next.
Overall I think we're OK with things but of course can see why dd coming out of some of these recent ones less than happy

MrsSquirrel · 02/06/2015 16:37

DD is happy enough with how her English went, though she wishes she had more time for the last question.
She can see Errol's dd's point about it being a human geography essay Grin

Next is maths on Thursday and biology on Friday.

GloriaSmud · 02/06/2015 16:47

DD1's given her usual exam report that English and RS went 'alright'. Geography tomorrow (one that she wants to do at A-level) and I've given my usual nagging gentle nudge in the direction of doing some revision tonight.
We are finally over the half way mark ~ 12 down, 8 to go but some of the exams left are in subjects she finds hard ~ like maths, physics and chemistry.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 02/06/2015 17:10

Hmm, we still have all of Maths and some Physics and Chemistry to go. Plus we still haven't finished Geography, History, or RS either.
But then again that's the first time I've even thought in terms of what's left so perhaps we're slowly getting there!

motherstongue · 02/06/2015 17:27

TWF - my DS reported back on Latin, must have done same paper as your DS as it was about Scipio. Apparently he is my son's favourite general! So...he thought it went really well. He also did a Greek paper today, is your DS doing Greek too? He said it was tough but he knew the play off by heart from his 1/2 term revision so big sigh of relief all round. Still 2 more Latin papers and 2 more Greek before the classics are laid to rest. Nothing tomorrow so he is away to play 5 aside.o

TheWordFactory · 02/06/2015 17:30

No Ancient Greek here.

It was muted as a new subject at the end of year 9, but I recommended Spanish as a. it's easy and b. I could help.

DS has loathed it. So I'll keep my nose out in future Grin.

HSMMaCM · 02/06/2015 17:32

The problem with English was not having enough time to answer all the questions to her satisfaction. She seemed a bit happier with RS.

OP posts:
LineRunner · 02/06/2015 17:46

Anyone else revising natural hazards?

motherstongue · 02/06/2015 17:48

Yeh my DS is also doing Spanish and loathes it. He was well put out at having to take a MFL to GCSE. He would rather have done geography (or absolutely anything else for that matter) than a MFL. He likes the classics as he doesn't have to actually speak them.

TheWordFactory · 02/06/2015 17:50

Ah you see DS is great at and loves French. So I thought (wrongly) that Spanish woul dmake a happy bedfellow.

I was wrong!

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2015 18:05

DD didn't want to do an MFL either - although she's got her two German exams tomorrow she's already happy that she will never be forced to utter another word of it. If she hadn't had to do that she'd have probably chosen RS as she likes a good argument.Grin

Her grasp of german vocab seems a bit sketchy, though she seems to think she does ok at the listening and reading - maybe she's good at educated guesswork when the words appear in some sort of context.

BackforGood · 02/06/2015 18:22

dd felt English wasn't a problem today, but is FUMING at her maths teacher once again. We got a text yesterday saying there was a compulsory revision session today (and another immediately before the exam on Thursday Hmm. She said all that happened was he listed all the topics they need to know for the exam...... I can't help thinking if they don't know that now, then it's a bit late to point it out to them ? Confused.

German tomorrow (I think - communication is at an all time low here Sad).

Sidge · 02/06/2015 18:29

DD said English was good, but it's her best subject so she felt quite good about it generally. She said her English teacher high-fived her when they were discussing it afterwards so I'm hoping that she was on the right lines!

It sounds like she's similar to your DS LineRunner as she still has 11 exams and doesn't finish until the 19th.

She's looking tired and spotty, and just wolfed down a huge roast dinner. She doesn't have any study leave until next week, they're in regular hours right up until this Friday and then can go in just for exams and lessons offering revision for those subjects not yet completed exams in. I think we'll both be glad when she's finished!

Littleham · 02/06/2015 18:47

Notice board tidied at least. New pens arranged. Wink

ono40 · 02/06/2015 19:09

Love the pens Littleham and love TWF's dd's explanation of the internet rotting young minds - I believe it was Janet Street-Porter's view of Twitter. DS said he wished she had a shorter name because he was sick of writing it!

Exam 2 of 5 this week and we are both exhausted already. DS looking very spotty and has two huge mouth ulcers so finding it difficult to eat anything (apart from chocolate, lol!).

Break tomorrow, then Maths on Thursday, Music and Biology on Friday. He felt Biology went badly last time so instead of pulling out all the stops to revise for this, he's more or less given up nash, nash....
