16 down. 5 to go. DD is barely communicating. We have a girls weekend away at the start of July (with my mum, sister and adult niece) and I can't wait.

How cool are those pens?

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2015 19:27

Love the pens and the rotting brains! Apparently DD thought the English was OK (via DH) She is now babysitting - no exams tomorrow, but will be preparing for maths on Thurs and Biology on Fri. 7 to go!

DD did French and Spanish. I think two MFLs is hard unless you are really gifted/fluent in at least one. One of her friends speaks EAL and has found learning both French and Spanish a breeze.

spudmasher · 02/06/2015 19:28

Hi all, this is hardcore now isn't it? DD keeps saying' I'm just taking one day at a time.....'

TheWordFactory · 02/06/2015 19:28

DD refuses to do FB, Instagram, Twitter etc so I'm sure she was able to take the moral ground so high, she got a nose bleed!

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2015 20:07

DD had the heaviest weeks before half term, although these ones are more important.

TWF, your DD definitely knows her own mind - good on her for nor following the crowd.

canny1234 · 02/06/2015 21:07

Dd said that English was OK.We have now had the ritual burning of her English notes and revision books. As the exams go on she's becoming more and more laid back.
Are any dc's doing Latin Literature?Apparently its a GCSE equivalent ( takes a few years for an exam to be authorised as a GCSE apparently). One of her teachers helped write it,so the girls doing Latin are automatically entered for the exam.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2015 21:14

Mine is at 11 down, 11 to go but 4 of those are tomorrow - the 2 german are only 45 and 50 mins apiece.

GCSEs don't seem to do much for a teenager's skin, do they?

LotusLight · 02/06/2015 21:58

English language okay here too. Apparently the last question was slightly unusual - write about when you helped someone or they helped you. However I am sure they managed it fine. They think on the whole particularly with maths and geography some of the papers have been unusually hard this year and the teachers seem to agree on some subjects.

LynetteScavo · 02/06/2015 22:11

I asked DS how his exams were today and he laughed! Confused No idea what that means. He assures me he won't have to do English next year though, so I'm taking it to mean it went well. Confused

mummytime · 02/06/2015 23:05

DD - English was good but sounds like a different paper to most of yours though. Something about left wing propoganda (quotes from Gordon Brown) and "a memorable holiday" where she used the Geography not asked for last week.

RE was okay maybe, but she felt she could have just as easily answered sections she hadn't been taught.

Horsemad · 02/06/2015 23:12

mummy time, DS's paper was the memorable holiday one. He also said something about child labour (hopefully that was on the paper and not a reference to his exams!! Grin )

mummytime · 02/06/2015 23:25

DD wrote about skiing in the alps - which she has never done - and only killed 11 people in this one. Only her teachers and us know the death toll of her creative writing.

Horsemad · 02/06/2015 23:44

Grin Grin Grin mummytime I love it!!

TheCheeseAlarm · 03/06/2015 05:23

Well. English was 'fine'. He had to write about a place that made an impact on him. So he wrote about the exam hall. Apparently it was highly ironic and full of religious imagery (!) but no-one died.

He has computing today which he taught himself at home so who know's how that will go.

TheCheeseAlarm · 03/06/2015 05:24

apostrophe apology

know's = knows

It is too early.

SugarPlumTree · 03/06/2015 06:45

Sounds like there was some quite creative writing going on yesterday ! Geography today which will be a washout, just need to keep her calm for the all important Maths tomorrow. Woukd be great if she managed to get it but in my head it is a 6th resist.

Horsemad · 03/06/2015 07:05

I would love to read some of the stories from the English exam!

SoupDragon · 03/06/2015 07:09

I think DS had the "write about how you helped/were helped" paper.

but no-one died.

NO ONE DIES used to be my constant reminder to DS2 when he was sitting 11+ entrance exams :) Ah... Fond memories!

LynetteScavo · 03/06/2015 07:09

Me too Horsemad!

Horsemad · 03/06/2015 07:11

Hmmm, I might pay to get DS's English paper back just to see what was written! Smile

Drivingnovice · 03/06/2015 08:24

DS asked me to download Pixl Maths Paper 1 for him to practice. Can't seem to find it... Any ideas anyone please...?

OddBoots · 03/06/2015 08:27

I think he would need the school to do it if they are Pixl members. Pixl is a kind of club that schools can belong to in order to share resources and information.

funambulist · 03/06/2015 08:32

My DS has Geography this afternoon (AQA). He's cautiously optimistic as he should already have some marks in the bag for coursework and paper one. Good luck to all the DCs taking exams today.

bigTillyMint · 03/06/2015 08:58

Oh Drivingnovice, my DH had downloaded some of them for DD, but I think his school belong to the club!

Must ring DD to check she is up to see her maths tutor...
