Like others, it's English am, RS pm for DD1. She's got a 'private study' period inbetween so has said she'll go and do some RS revision in the library then. There doesn't seem to be much revision being done at home ~ I think really she's just all 'revisioned out' at the moment!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 02/06/2015 09:32

Lots of different boards Eve, but I'm glad you've been reassured on that now

We didn't have the best morning here which I'm a bit annoyed about - just the all too common everyone being late & getting stressed and in each other's way. I feel we could have pulled together better for dd's sake but hope she wasn't too unsettled - it's probably all water off a duck's back to her. She went in happily enough. But I was annoyed dh can't ever seem to put anyone else first. Maybe sometimes the more you want something to go right the more it can go wrong? Feel this is quite an important one and I'd like her to do well and do herself justice. The main thing will be balancing the time on each question and definitely answering all of them. There's not that many - we think 3 or 4 (Eng Lang EdExcel) so maybe that will help.

DS's exams go on till the 19th June! Shock The last one will be Further Maths.

They started in the second week of May.

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/06/2015 10:04

Similar story here too Line. DD's last exam is 17th June and she started on 28th April.

English today, geography and German tomorrow and then maths on Thursday. Then one a week for the next two weeks. The end is in sight.

switchitoff · 02/06/2015 10:10

DS doesn't have any exams today, but has German tomorrow. He hasn't had any German lessons for over a month (study leave) - so am trying to encourage him to listen to some German tapes at least, just to get his ears attuned to the sound of the language.

That suggestion has gone down like a lead balloon; and he's looking at Maths instead. Hmm. What can you do?

AmazingDisgrace · 02/06/2015 10:12

Oh crap is it German tomorrow? DS will not be in a great mood tonight then.

Horsemad · 02/06/2015 10:16

DS in a foul mood this morning. No particular reason, just teenagedom I think!
Hope he's in a better mood when I collect him after English. Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2015 10:24

Yes, it does drag out. Though the two FM in the last week DD should find relatively enjoyable - as it's an extra it's less pressure so hopefully she will remove her nose from the grindstone between. She's really looking forward to time to read a book other than revision guides!

How is your DD, woolly? Did she recover over the half term?

DH took DD in this morning and is waiting to pick her up after the English, hopefully getting some nice coffee and a selection of rolls for her packed lunch tomorrow while she's in isolation. She's a bit miffed that she's the only one who had clashes on two days.

Littleham · 02/06/2015 10:59

Hope all the English / RS exams go well. Tell your dd to keep going MissClemency, the end is in site. Smile

Wooley - also hoping your dd is feeling much better. You must have been so relieved to get to half term so she could have a rest.

My dd's last exam is on Friday 12th June.

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2015 11:13

Clemency, I think the predicted grades don't help sometimes, if you don't achieve your predicted grade then it can look like you've 'failed' even if the final grade is actually perfectly respectable. This is exactly where DD's problems lie.

Yes, we were just saying yesterday that the first exam feels like a million years ago now. Exactly 2 weeks to go.

LineRunner · 02/06/2015 11:21

DS still has 13 exams left between now and the 19th.

He is just home from English. Said it was boring. Hopefully that's a good sign, as in, he had practised the answers he used...

HSMMaCM · 02/06/2015 11:23

After today DD only has five exams left I think. English is due to finish in 5 mins.

OP posts:
LineRunner · 02/06/2015 11:26

I think a lot of DS's remaining exams are the sciences and maths / further maths. Which are his chosen A level subjects. So the tension is rising not lessening...

Good luck to them all. And us. Smile

TeenAndTween · 02/06/2015 11:28

We've told DD that some of her predictions are too high, and to ignore them. They might be achievable if she was doing the subjects in isolation, but doing them all at once is a completely different matter.

DD will still be in English as she gets extra time so her exam lasts a massive 2hr 48 mins. (Which is about 2hr longer than her concentration span).

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/06/2015 11:31

Thank you Errol and Littleham DD is feeling much better. She's got a hospital appointment after her maths exam but that is with the ophthalmologist so shouldn't be too taxing. The tablets seem to be doing the trick. I haven't had a call from school to go and pick her up either - so fingers crossed all should be well. She was planning to stay for a bit after this exam to see all her teachers so I said I'd pick her up at 12:30.

She needs at least a B in English to do two of her chosen A Levels so she was a bit nervous this morning, particularly after English Lit was one of the exams she was ill for and missed one of the papers. We have been reassuring her that given the circumstances whatever grades she gets will be fantastic but she is worried about results day already. She doesn't want to collect them with her friends Sad

tbtc · 02/06/2015 12:22

Glad to hear your DD is OK Woolly. She is a tough cookie.

DS just back and seems to have held up well despite protestations this morning about having to write for 2 1/4hrs! Twas all about child labour it seems.

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2015 13:18

Woollyback, glad the tablets are helping. We are not even thinking about results day.

Haven't heard from DD yet...

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2015 13:27

Mine thought it was better than she'd expected (AQA eng lang), though apparently in part of it there were quite a few words that she'd simply never come across so didn't know if they were figurative or not. (Of course she can't remember what they were, I'd like to know.) So this meant she was at a loss for much to say in the last question and ended up going off on a bit of a human geography essay. Hmm Still, she seemed quite cheerful, and having had lunch and a chat and come down a bit from a slightly hyper state, she's in her room probably going over the geog case studies.

HSMMaCM · 02/06/2015 13:48

DD said English was awful. She's in RS now.

OP posts:
SunnyBaudelaire · 02/06/2015 13:49

My two just finished English, they said it was OK.
Mind you they have been telling me that for years.

Horsemad · 02/06/2015 14:22

DS said 'Mmmmmn' when asked about English. Said it wasn't as nice as some past papers he's seen.
Had to write about a memorable holiday so wrote about Australia (we've never been!) and it seemed loosely based on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, with a shack for accommodation and eating grubs!!! Shock Shock Shock

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2015 14:25

DD came in for another chat - not really in revising mood. She could do with some physical activity but its horrid out - she might do some exercise in the garage later.

We somehow got onto whether she should learn Klingon this summer - or whether the school would let her do it as enrichment (well, they can do Spanish or Mandarin, why not? Grin).

SoupDragon · 02/06/2015 14:36

DS says he had to write about "respect" although he didn't elaborate.

funambulist · 02/06/2015 14:41

Just spent the last hour or so testing DS on Geography case studies (his suggestion). I remembered quite a few of them being in the news but realised as I tested him that I had little actual knowledge of the magnitude of earthquakes, amount of damage caused etc. He has kindly allowed me a short break before I we go through the other case studies.

TheWordFactory · 02/06/2015 14:45

DD said the English paper was about the internet rotting young minds and she went blank thinking ' it's all true, my mind has rotted' then she looked again and got on with it.GrinGrin.
