Glad your DS is confident Fairenuff. If tomorrow's English Language writing task is on Call of Duty or the merits of YouTube, I can safely say my DS will be sorted!

Littleham · 01/06/2015 21:08

Note to others - don't try to test your dc and poach eggs at the same time. Mmm, egg with melted plastic for a healthy meal. Hmm

Little ham. Love the eggs. DD has had 2 revision sessions and a hospital appointment today. Seems to have the same exams as Gloria's DC tomorrow. Currently washing her sheets!

MissClemency, just encourage her to keep going. Hard exams usually mean lower grade boundaries. All to play for and all that.

Hope you are both ok.

Mellifera · 01/06/2015 22:19

DD has been giggling over youtube, if it's not too late for your dc, maybe they can check out "helpmemrdavies" on youtube, a fun way to look at English.
Sadly DD didn't find it before the English Lit papers, there are quite a few videos.

DD is reasonably ok, coping with the stress. This week and next will be tough, but the end is in sight.

Soup was ordered ten minutes ago. Who am I to disagree. Grin

Sorry to hear about your DD MissClemency. It is a horrible time for the kids and parents and all you can do is encourage her to keep going. Flowers

AmazingDisgrace · 01/06/2015 23:29

Found you all! History was "really quite good" for DS so phew! It's one of his A level choices so fingers crossed. It is also one he has been predicted an A* in but its such a tricky subject to predict

Onestep15 · 01/06/2015 23:42

Ginandtonictime, thank you so much for the youtube link, DD was actually quite impressed with me for 'finding' it and has spent most of the evening looking at it (checking her phone at the same time obviously). she said she couldn't write any more revision notes as her hand is suffering from handwriting so much in 2 exams today....

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2015 06:36

MissClemency, sympathies. We have found that NOT going over the paper just done, being positive and up-beat (even if fake!) and focusing on the next one is helping. And the end is in sight.Flowers

English Language today. DD asked me to test her on something last night, but as she spent the whole time checking her phone and I was very tired, it wasn't spectacularly successful!

TheCheeseAlarm · 02/06/2015 06:48

DS1 is back into the fray today. English Lang is not his favourite but not the worst. He has computing, maths and Biology to come this week. I don't get much more out of than 'fine' about most exams.

He spent 4 out of 5 lessons at school yesterday revising Science and one looking at question technique in English. They still don't know when they finish school but he suspects it will be after his final Maths paper which is next Monday. I think the routine of going in is good for him though.

Good luck to everyone else today.

OddBoots · 02/06/2015 06:51

MissClemency, I'm sorry she is miserable. It is such a tough time for them. Whatever the results it isn't the end of the world, there are always options.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 02/06/2015 07:25

Welcome AmazingDisgrace Glad history was OK for your ds (though wasn't one of the best for dd) but then it's not one she wants to continue with for A level - she's hoping to do biology and geography and one or two others (as yet not quite settled) And she's happy enough with how those went. So for many of them doing well enough in those subjects will be the main thing. I know some people have more stress than others regarding sixth form options - the general advice here though to just keep going through them all the best you can is very reassuring! As OddBoots says there are always options after results. We'll deal with that when we get there. Possibly get back together for a results, options, and grads thread I'm guessing?!

Good luck to all and the DC for today - we too have Eng Lang
Fingers X for a nice paper and better good time management

LotusLight · 02/06/2015 07:36

English lang today for my 2 (iGCSE I don't know the board). Probably their easiest although one went to their one and only revision class for it yesterday at school - they've eschewed all others on offer by the school.

TheWordFactory · 02/06/2015 08:03

English this morning for DD.
Latin this afternoon for DS.

And I must mark a paper by one of my students. From the covering email he clearly feels this is a work of supreme genius Grin.

I agree clemency - when I took o levels my recollection iOS that we had no idea what grades we might get; we just did our best.

SoupDragon · 02/06/2015 08:47

English Language today in the Dragon house. I've promised him an XboxOne if he gets an A in language and literature.

My money is safe although I feel I can't lose really - if he gets an A in either we will both be shocked delighted!

SoupDragon · 02/06/2015 08:48

We were given predicted O level grades in the school report we got between mocks and actual exams. It was all very low key.

SugarPlumTree · 02/06/2015 08:56

I don't remember having predicted grades for O level so very low key if there were. Glad DD in a better frame of mind Clemency. There is a lot of being positive, matter of fact and looking forward going on here at the moment.

Japanese for DD this afternoon.

Eve · 02/06/2015 09:03

you are making me panic about English today.. DS is doing iGCSE but doesn't have it on his list ... have just texted him as hes gone to school to revise.

TheWordFactory · 02/06/2015 09:11

DS has already finished iGCSE English eve.

It's normal GCSE here today.

Eve · 02/06/2015 09:14

phew, thanks , DS has texted back to say hes not doing this english paper.
