G&T - DD is soooo convinced she doesn't need to revise for English, that she won't even look at that link. Thanks for offering it though.

Hopefully your DD has done ok bigTillyMint, sometimes it seems worse than it is. DS has another two papers to do for History. It seems to drag on and on...

bigTillyMint · 01/06/2015 15:29

HorsemadGrin

I agree Juggling re anxiety and just getting through the best they can.

DD has Eng Lang IGCSE tomorrow and is revising the anthology for some reason that I can't fathom. Well she's at school meant to be doing that, presuming that she has got over the History.

dingit · 01/06/2015 15:49

Awe. This morning dd was a screeching monster and I was the worst mother in the world. This afternoon she's sat on my lap ( she's taller than me) and given me a cuddle Smile

Her boyfriend is doing his second English Lang paper tomorrow for a different board. ( he's already sat the same as dd). Anyone else heard of this?

HSMMaCM · 01/06/2015 16:23

DD has English language tomorrow afternoon (and RS in the morning). She's currently having a sandwich and watching TV.

Nothing for my dd tomorrow (did English Lang last year). I have a horror story about the marking last year! Shock

She started the day as a grump and is now happy again. She loves German and Maths so Wednesday shouldn't be stressful.

SoupDragon · 01/06/2015 16:35

DS has English Language tomorrow morning, German Wednesday morning then Maths Thurs and Biology Friday. A toughish week. Next week there's Physics and Chemistry and the week after that 2 Further Maths papers. Then he will be home and under my feet for aaaaaaaages.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/06/2015 16:39

DD did something for Eng lang this morning (don't know what exactly) and then another computing paper. She said she'd done a lot better on it than the previous one despite not having done any revision between so she thinks there must be quite a lot of luck what comes up.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/06/2015 16:41

soupdragon, thats exactly what my DD has except also computing and geography on wed!

Ginandtonictime · 01/06/2015 16:51

dingit the ds of a gym-buddy of mine has two sets of english exams for different boards - which ever one comes out top they're going to take as his final result for english ...

sounds bonkers/wasteful/purgatory like a lot of hard work!

OddBoots · 01/06/2015 17:18

It became a thing a few years ago to enter students for more than one board in the same subject with the school able to get credit for the highest grade. These days the school are credited with the first exams sat, even if it only a few hours earlier so it is no longer in the school's interests to double enter although it might still be in the student's interests.

HSMMaCM · 01/06/2015 17:38

Anyone else want to know little hams marking nightmare ?

LineRunner · 01/06/2015 17:41

Oh yes.

bigTillyMint · 01/06/2015 17:41

I think they did this one year at DD's school. Bit much, if you ask me!

Sidge · 01/06/2015 17:58

DD did History today (EdExcel) and said it was "tricky". Quite what that means I don't know.

auntpetunia · 01/06/2015 18:00

Ds had no exams today so has spent all morning doing English with the teacher and all afternoon geography he has point blank refused to look at that link.

I'm not sure I want to know Littlehams marking night mare!!!Confused

Littleham · 01/06/2015 18:09

It might be worth knowing (just in case).

She was getting A's in all her class exams. Took the real exam and one of the modules came back as an E, with the other three modules being A* (making final grade a C). The teacher decided that a lot of the marks were so far out that she would send a batch off to be re-marked. DD's came back as an A Shock and a lot of the other ones were wrong. DD's was the biggest disparity by a long way.

Moral of the story. If the mark feels wrong it may be wrong. But beware re-marks can go down as well as up.

bigTillyMint · 01/06/2015 18:13
funambulist · 01/06/2015 18:19

Littleham, that is worrying. Was it the module marked as E that was remarked as A, or was the final grade A (rather than C) after everything was remarked?

Littleham · 01/06/2015 18:34

Overall grade was an A. So the E paper went up to the B/C boundary mark.

We advised her to bank the A and forget about it! Glad she isn't re-doing it.

Sidge · 01/06/2015 18:36
bigTillyMint · 01/06/2015 18:39

Well DH has just picked her up and she's come in and is bantering with DS, so we are not mentioning itWink
I'll still have theWine though!

canny1234 · 01/06/2015 18:44

Latin language today not Lit. as I thought - only 45 minutes.Had to drive dd1 in and wait for her so I managed to buy a dress for an imminent ( 12th June) big Irish wedding .Very pleased with myself until I took the dress for alteration whereupon I found I'd smeared foundation marks all over the collar Blush. Now all I have to do is buy shoes, spanx and try to recover from the trauma of being disturbed in my pound world 'comfort' bra in a posh shop changing room.

GloriaSmud · 01/06/2015 20:14

Despite not revising much, DD1 reported that her History (OCR) went 'OK' this morning.

Although DD's now officially on 'exam release', she doesn't get to come home early/go in late that often over the next 2 weeks so she had to stay and do extra English classes after the exam. This extra revision was no doubt helped along by the teacher giving out doughnuts Grin

So it's English Language (higher) am and RS (Religion and Human Experience) pm tomorrow. I've told her to look through her notes/do something towards revising but she seems to be giggling away at something on Youtube at the moment Hmm

Fairenuff · 01/06/2015 20:39

Ds said History (Edexcel) was a bit 'odd' but he thinks everyone thought the same and he wrote loads. He thinks this is a good sign, I'm not so sure. But it's done now, another one hits the dust Grin

He is confident for English tomorrow as it's his strongest subject and he knows it inside out. So instead of last minute revision he has spent the evening putting together his new flatpack furniture which he ordered for his bedroom.

He now has a desk and swivel chair all ready for his laptop (birthday present) when it arrives. He's spent the last ten minutes spinning in his chair whilst texting Hmm
