I think that might be the ticket horse DD loves a Chinese takeaway.

TeenAndTween · 03/05/2015 10:03

Definitely not pay-per-grade here. I did consider a pay-per-target-met but then discarded it for reasons as stated above.

We are massively focussing on doing your best and then there won't be 'if only' moments on results day. We will do a celebration when she finishes, and she is off to Spain for 3 weeks in July which she is looking forward to.

Heard on the radio today 100 hours until the election. I guess that means its only about 200 hours until first exam, (but I've not said that to DD!)

SugarPlumTree · 03/05/2015 10:07

That sounds like a good plan Horsemad and WF.

53 hours till first exam here.

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2015 10:19

53 hours? Eeek! 200 is bad enough!

DD came home very late last night (but before us!) and is still in bed, having decided not to go to History revision - 10am on a SundayShock Hopefully she will get up before too long and get started on something as she is out again tonight - friends 16th birthday weekendHmm!

SugarPlumTree · 03/05/2015 10:25

Fair play to the teachers, 10am on a Sunday Shock. We are off to a bluebell wood if a) it doesn't rain ad b) I can remember where it is, she's redoing bits of a photography assignment.Tomorrow hopefully she's hopefully doing an English paper.

Littleham · 03/05/2015 10:29

We don't pay for exam results either as it would be a nightmare with four so close in age. There is enough sibling rivalry already. Mini treats along the way to boost morale - we did a take away last week where everyone picked favourites.

Trip with friends at the end (condition is working hard, not results).

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2015 10:30

I know, very fair play. I hope someone turned up!

So cute!

QOD · 03/05/2015 19:42

Dd has her reward ... she just caught me singing and has snap chatted it to all her friends ... made her laugh until she cried

SugarPlumTree · 04/05/2015 09:16

GrinQOD. They are very cute HSM.

DD redoing bits of her photography so yesterday we went to a bluebell wood. Lots of muttering about the light not being right but the rest of us enjoyed it, I had forgotten how calming it is to be surrounded by a carpet of blue and taking in the wafts of fragrance. She was a bit touchy as wanted the beach at sunset but there clearly (well to DH and I) wasn't going to be one. I was bracing myself for a request to get up early and go to the New Forest but I think the idea of sleep was more appealing than an improved photography grade!

auntpetunia · 04/05/2015 10:04

Well in a weeks time DS will have done his first paper!! Can't believe h8w quickly it's all come round. No sign of any revision this weekend, but I think I'm just going to chill now my blood pressure can't take the worry. We've checked his exam timetable but it appears he has to be in school every day even if he hasnt got an exam which stops me worrying about whether he's got out in time with everything he needs.

HSMMaCM · 04/05/2015 10:37

DD had a friend over to revise yesterday and I caught them watching Mulan. She's off to the school fair today, so I'll do an early pickup, in the hope she'll look at some books tonight.

Sugarplum very Envy of where you live. Dd revising, but going to persuade her to move into the garden later.

TheWordFactory · 04/05/2015 11:29

Last chance saloon here for DS English Language so he's busy revising... History. Obviously.

SugarPlumTree · 04/05/2015 11:33

We are very lucky Dingit but are a bit rubbish at making the most of it at the momemt, am planning to be better about that after the exams.

Same here WF except she isn't revising yet. Has said she will do a paper this afternoon...

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2015 11:37

But what/how do you revise for Eng Lang?!
SugarPlum, the photography outing sounds lovely.

DD has her friend round revising Physics, allegedlyWink They are off to the other friends for Part 3 of the birthday celebrations later.

A week to go here. Good Luck to all those with an exam tomorrow!

TeenAndTween · 04/05/2015 11:39

Sugar I popped down to Brock on Thursday for the open evening to check a few bits and pieces as DD is 99% going there in September. Reminded me we should make more use of the NF as well.

DD working hard, but it's sloooow progress on some things, but I hope think she'll be ready when needed. She's very fed up of revising science though.

TeenAndTween · 04/05/2015 11:41

Tilly DD needs to 'revise' English Language a lot to get the techniques into her head as she has massively struggled with them. So her revision is doing past questions and either me or a friendly teacher feeding back. Similarly for the English lit poetry.

Littleham · 04/05/2015 11:48

Good luck to everyone for the English Lang. exams. Thanks goodness dd did that last year. Her first 'proper' exam is RS.

DD also hates poetry for English Lit.

May Day Fayre in the village today for treat time. I plan to go and drink Brew eat lots of Cake.

SugarPlumTree · 04/05/2015 11:50

Part 3 of birthday celebrations is pretty impressive. DD said they have only started English Language in class a couple of weeks ago. I want her to sit a paper to familiarise herself with the timing as much as anything. but not holding my breath that she will do it and determined not to nag her.

Tween I would have loved DD to go to Brock, the bus goes from end of our drive. But it would mean her travelling with people from Middle school where she had a rough time so was a non starter as far as she was concerned - she did look but DH said she pretty much ran in and out. I've got a couple of friends with sons in Year 12 there and some of DD's friends are going from her school plus another friend's DD - apparently a fair few are going our catchment upper school this year. Quite frustrating that she could go to Brock rather current school with its many problems but I think on balance she will do better where she is familiar with so am biting tongue. It will be an option for DS though.

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2015 11:50

OK, I can see how doing past questions might help with technique if you are able to advise!

And definitely revision for the Eng Lit - quotes, etc. DD's Eng Lang is after half-term with Maths, History and B1/P1 AFAICR.

There is so much to revise in Science, and unless you have that kind of brain, it is very hard to get it to stick!

SugarPlumTree · 04/05/2015 12:12

She still looks shattered so have decided probably on balance better if she rests today .

May Day fair sounds lovely Littleham.

TeenAndTween · 04/05/2015 12:20

DD's had a big push on Eng Lang since massively failing mock at about the same time we got dyspraxia diagnosis. School and I have helped a lot and second mock went much better. It's not until after half term, so part of that will be spent reviewing sand re-practicing technique.

DD does not have the kind of brain for Science so it's a bit of a sledgehammer needed at times. Now she will say 'I don't understand why, but the answer is .....' which I think is good enough this close to exams!

TheWordFactory · 04/05/2015 17:14

Finally put aside the Treaty of Versailles and looking at Eng Lang here.

Am cleaning up the kitchen! He thought he would make some chocolate brownies earlier. Devastation!
