Best of luck for all the DDs and DSs.

HSM maybe now would be a good time for you to kick off thread 3 - the final reckoning? (or will that be results day?)

New thread here

It wasn't me that started thread 1, I just kept it going.

Found the first one. It was MEgirl who started off this incredibly useful debate.

Did have a convo with dd yesterday where she agreed with you all that RS is probably more wing-able than biology. Glancing at her biology textbook with all it's diagrams and technical words you had to see she had a point.

And dh's helpful contribution was that biology was more important than RS Hmm
But again, since she wants to do it for A level and maybe something along those lines at Uni too, perhaps he does have a point too.

But I'm kind of advocating for a simple one subject a day revision plan now we've actually started them. Apart from weekends and half-term.

I was trying to get her to move on to looking at RS from about lunch-time onwards yesterday. I think she finally did so around 7pm. Then stayed up til midnight of course. Just as well perhaps that following her art exam she's well trained in functioning on no sleep Hmm

Picking her up just after 11 - then like many we have French and Biology tomorrow (a thankfully rare double subject day)

Best of luck to everyone as we start this exam week - especially to anyone else who has first exams today (or virtually so)

ds(Y8) has history and maths today. History on different sources and historical balance regarding Oliver Cromwell. ds gave me an analogy about historical sources which involved bananas Grin
But I think he has the general idea!

'On the eighth day God realised there were some potholes and said, Lo let there be road works.....and verily the road works appeared. Grin

Well we made it in today easily as they were just setting up, but I am now hemmed in by ROAD CLOSED signs.

DD also has French (x2) and Biology tomorrow. They must all be doing the same exam boards. Poor thing has her 16th birthday this week.

OddBoots · 11/05/2015 10:36

I think the different exam boards have their exams on the same days where possible as it reduces the chances of clashes when schools use different boards for different subjects. Ds has Edexcel French and OCR 21st Cetuary biology tomorrow.

Littleham · 11/05/2015 10:39

oh do they? Didn't realise that but it makes sense.

Found the GCSE exam thread thanks. Smile

Loads of information from dd - as ever

Me : Well?
dd : Well what?
Me: How did it go?
dd: How did what go?
Me: You know, the RE GCSE you had this morning...
dd: Fine
Me: What you got tomorrow?
dd: French

and so it goes on Grin

HSMMaCM · 11/05/2015 16:27

Backforgood - I'm anticipating that conversation in a while.

I asked: How was your exam?

DS: It was OK (slight smile)

Me: Really?

DS: (sill smiling) Well I answered all the questions.

Considering he was intent in failing RE to make a point that he didn't want to be catholic or to go to a catholic school or have to do RE not so long ago, I am GrinGrinGrin thrilled.

It's a nice easy intro to exams...it's not a subject he wants to do at Alevel, and he now has no exams until next Monday (next week is very heavy)

Although almost all the year has timetabled sessions until the last exam, apparently most of the year disappeared after lunch!
