DD got a B in her French speaking assessment (during PE) today. I can't tell you what an amazing achievement that is for her. She's over the moon.

I hear you Dingit, oh I hear you.

That is excellent news HSM Smile

It occurred to me today that I need to actually make a decision about this flaming Election as it is before the Ethics and Philosphy exam and I am in a marginal so it will actually count.

HSMMaCM · 28/04/2015 19:24

Dingit. We get the silent treatment.

HSMM - Star to go with being over the moon.

HSMMaCM · 28/04/2015 19:39

She said the French teacher did a dance in the hallway and ran up the corridor telling all the other teachers.

Well, my DD is finally revising. Since I have stopped nagging the atmosphere is a lot better.
She has work experience lined up after GCSEs in a lab, which she is very happy about.
Let's hope she can somehow pull this off without much revision.

All things were put into perspective when last week a girl at DD's school killed herself. Nobody knows why, it's shocking.

Sending lots of patience to you and resilience to the dc in this stressful times.

bigTillyMint · 28/04/2015 19:45

HSM, that's greatSmile

Coffee, that is so, so sad. Poor girl and poor family and friends.

A friend and I were just discussing how we don't think they have quite realised how close the exams actually are, and that we are probably stressing more than them.

auntpetunia · 28/04/2015 20:04

Oh coffee that is so sad, her poor family. Your poor DD also what a thing to deal with at such a young age.

HSMM that is fabulous news. Well done to DD Flowers

Littleham · 28/04/2015 20:06

How awful Coffee. Those poor parents. Sad

Well done to mini HSMM.

HSMMaCM · 28/04/2015 20:13

Coffee that's sad. DD's school have had an attempted suicide :(.

Coffee that is so sad Sad 2 girls did the same last year at a local school which is a big part of me trying not to pressure DD and let her know we will find a way forward whatever happens.

DizzyDaffodil · 28/04/2015 20:33

Coffee that's awful, that poor girl and her family :(

JugglingFromHereToThere · 28/04/2015 20:39

So very sad coffee So sorry for everyone that knew her Sad

I was thinking today of those words about the archer and his bow and arrows (by Kahlil Gibran) Something like as the archer loves the arrows that fly so too he loves the bow that is steady. Thinking that we need to be that steady, strong, and stable bow ATM, even if it does seem slightly boring sometimes.

But watch those arrows fly! We are so lucky to have them and to be able to watch their flight however far or near they fly, however on target or wide of the mark they hit the board - or even fly right passed it! Never mind if they do

They will always be so loved by both the bow and the archer x

TheWordFactory · 28/04/2015 20:40

How very very sad about that poor girl.

A girl at DDs school died in difficult circumstances a couple of years ago ( could have been suicide, could have been a bizarre tragic accident ) and it knocked the kids for six.

HSMMaCM · 28/04/2015 20:40

Juggling - you brought a tear to my eye.

CoffeeBeanie · 28/04/2015 20:42

I know, terrible. An extremely clever girl with many friends. It makes me want to go round schools and hand out Papyrus leaflets about the help out there.

TheWordFactory · 28/04/2015 20:42

Well done mini HSM too.

Another oral out of the way.

CoffeeBeanie · 28/04/2015 20:54

HSMM, sorry for destroying the happy mood, well done to your DD! Nice of the teacher to show her happiness too.
Is she now only doing Reading and Listening?

My DD does French too and it is by far her worst subject. Her R&L are amongst the first exams.

Littleham · 28/04/2015 20:58

After the angst this morning dd3 came home and tidied / vacuumed room / changed her bedding without being asked. Think she may have felt a bit guilty. Smile

HSMMaCM · 28/04/2015 21:07

Coffee - don't worry. We all need things put in perspective sometimes. I'm just glad she's alive, so GCSE results seem unimportant.

She had one more written assessment and then just the exam on the 12th. They have a revision morning on the 9th.

bigTillyMint · 28/04/2015 21:13

Juggling, that is a beautiful poem - we had some of it, including that bit, at our wedding.
DH is doing a good job of keeping steady, strong and stable, I am just trying to keep my trap shut!

Coffee, French R&L is one of DD's first exams too.

QOD · 28/04/2015 21:41

Hi!!!.dunno.how I've missed this.

Dd takes the first of this year's 14 subjects next Tues. Ugh
Tool 3 early so 2 A's and a B under her belt. But revising for so many subjects is tough
She wants to do Maths and Sciences A levels so is focused on those but of course every other teacher thinks their subject is the most important
Grammar school that churns out great gcse results but not such great A levels so she's moving on for 6th form hopefully

QOD · 28/04/2015 21:43

Oh coffee how sad

It's crazy. I do a pretty well paid job ... with 9 good O levels alongside people with none. It's not the be all and end all once you're in the workplace
