No dingit this is nothing to do with Scouts, he's climbed for a number of years and goes every Sunday for lessons . he's never fallen before but apparently this was spectacular. Scout camp was supposed to be over the end of may bank holiday. I've spoken to HOY and am meeting her and SENCO re what is needed. He's due back at Alder Hey on Friday for a redress and confirmation that nothing is broken by the radiologist, he's only got paracetamol and ibuprofen as a pain relief but they dosed him at the hospital and hes been asleep now since 4.30, just going to wake him up for some food. If the pain is bad ill give him something stronger, the paramedics wouldn't give him codeine as he's not 16 yet, summer baby, though the paramedics were looking at him and saying are you sure your not 16, at 6 ft 4 he towered over both of them.

bigTillyMint · 26/04/2015 19:23

AuntP, 6ft 4?ShockGrin

JugglingFromHereToThere · 26/04/2015 19:35

Your poor ds AuntPetunia. But timing aside sounds like it will heal so hoping nothing's broken. And just as well that he's used to using a scribe - just will need to practice for maths as well.
Am trying to be sympathetic - hoping it's coming across OK x

auntpetunia · 26/04/2015 20:07

Haha yep bigtillymint 6 ft 4 you read that right!

LynetteScavo · 27/04/2015 06:53

Oh dear!, auntpetunia! Your poor DS!

auntpetunia · 27/04/2015 07:47

Right off to school to see how we can manage this, he's slept for 13 hours solid and when I woke him he was in lots of pain he's now showered, we didn't bother with shaving, he'll have a full beard by the end of this week as he hadn't shaved last week due to laziness. Hope the HOY and SENCO can give us some ideas for how to cope in class. Poor lad tried to write left handed, it was like a Reception child. Wish us luck

dingit · 27/04/2015 07:51

Ah bless him, he needed a good sleep. Hope he gets on ok today.

bigTillyMint · 27/04/2015 07:58

Good Luck AuntP!

dingit · 27/04/2015 11:34

Yay! Sing it from the roof tops! Dd just texted me to say she got an A in her further maths mock. I think we can say the tutoring has paid off!

TheWordFactory · 27/04/2015 11:51

DD has her French oral today.
I for one am very pleased to see the back of it!

Littleham · 27/04/2015 12:09

Hope he is ok today AuntP.

Fabulous news dingit.

I was also glad to see the back of the language orals TheWord, especially as she is doing French and German GCSE so double the trouble. Hope your dd's oral goes well today.

SugarPlumTree · 27/04/2015 13:12

Glad he got some keep Aunt P, fingers crossed the School get everything sorted so he can come hme knowing plan in place,

Excellent news Dingit ! And can imagine relief that french oral is done and dusted WF.

I remember my German oral. My eccentric Aunt turned up from Germany on her Vespa fairly late the night before out of the blue. I was pleased to see her but really pissed off inside that she hadn't turned up a few hours earlier. In my French oral I spoke some German by mistake.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/04/2015 15:53

That's great, dingit.

AuntP - that's bad luck Sad. Salutory warning for me - I was beginning to get a bit restive about DD barring both of us from going sailing/windsurfing till after all her exams are over (including the FM which is after everything else) but it really is the risk of injury rather than the revision time that has convinced her. Mind you, she has a remarkable ability to do 'risky' activities with no injury but then hurt herself in some daft way (Tripping over or getting her foot stomped on between activities). Hmm

TheWordFactory · 27/04/2015 16:00

DD sent me this text about the oral
'It didn't go too badly thank you. Will tell u later '

So that's as clear as mud ( other than being told to bugger off).

ErrolTheDragon · 27/04/2015 16:10

word - the main thing is that it went! Grin And I'd take a bet that 'not too badly' means 'actually quite well, feel a bit daft about the fuss'.

Fairenuff · 27/04/2015 16:54

dingit well done to your dd, great confidence boost right before exams start Smile

auntpetunia · 27/04/2015 17:13

I love my kids school! Grin nothing is too much trouble , everything is sorted he will record lessons they are doing now, all staff have been told to let him, they are giving him a HLTA who used to be a maths teacher before kids as his scribe in the exam, he's got sessions every night after school with this lady to practise so they can get used to each others style. The senco is contacting the exam board today to find out if he can have extra extra time as he doesn't normally have a scribe in maths they are treating this like anyone else who got injured so needs to be clear how much time he can have, just his usual 20% more. Nothing was too much trouble and it wad so nice to leave home knowing everything was sorted. He's just come home after an hours session on geography which went ok.

Dingit that's fab neW's about the maths, well done to DD.

bigTillyMint · 27/04/2015 17:20

That would be a massively positive text from DD where exams are concernedGrin

Well done mini-dingit! I hope the maths tutor that DD has will have a similar effect on DD.

I am impressed that your DC are managing CA's as well as revision.

bigTillyMint · 27/04/2015 17:27

That's fab, AuntPSmile

SugarPlumTree · 27/04/2015 18:08

Great news AP Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 27/04/2015 18:26

Wow, that is indeed a good school AuntP, and it sounds like the HLTA is a gem.

dingit · 27/04/2015 18:59

Aunt P, glad he is all sorted. bet he is a bit of a minor celebrity with his mates Smile
word, that sounds alright with the speaking exam, and at least you got a text!

Littleham · 28/04/2015 14:13

Great that he is being given some help AuntP. Smile

Physics mock today. Very stressy this morning - quote 'do you want me to pass my Physics mock or do you want me to pick my washing up?' Sigh.

HSMMaCM · 28/04/2015 15:00

Little ham - hope you offered to do bottom wiping too, to help with the physics :)

Argh. Dd is like a smouldering volcano at the moment. Erupts without warning. The pressure is building, and we are both feeling miserable today Hmm
