Sorry about the stress your dd is under SugarPlum. Maths is one of those awkward subjects isn't it? Very hard if it doesn't come naturally. I hope it keeps going in the right direction.

Auntpetunia - if it is local go for the compromise of seeing the mayor, but not the whole weekend. If it is a long way away, it doesn't seem worth the risk.

Littleham · 14/04/2015 14:56

Getting fake tan just right could be important in her future life. Grin

TheWordFactory · 14/04/2015 15:05

Hey guys.

Have nursing a coffee with bleary eyes here. I wasn't sure the restaurant would even be open but everything here happens super early. The place is full of people having breakfast. The gym is full. The pool is full.

I have a lunch meeting scheduled at 11.45!

No wonder everyone goes to bed at 9.30pm. Bonkers.

DH has gone on his trip and DD text to say our niece got everyone up and made them breakfast. So that's working out fine.

aunt I know I'm probably too cautious when it comes to school exams etc but those dates in may are the last push!

SugarPlumTree · 14/04/2015 20:16

Just been for meeting at DS' s school and seen some parents from his old first school who I haven't seen for ages. One asked how DD is doing. I replied that she's Ok and doing GCSE'S . Reply was 'what as in she's year 11?'

I confirmed that she is indeed year 11 and was then met with 'as in about to do GCSE'S really soon?' Again I confirmed that yes that is the case and she starts in 3 weeks . 'Reply to that was 'OMG' and she looked very panicked on my behalf Grin

Just had text from a friend. Seems they have appointed new Head. Friend was on parent panel so met the guy and said he seemed good. Fingers crossed for some stability finally next year.

bigTillyMint · 14/04/2015 21:11

That's good that they've found someone, SugarPlum. Noone wants to be a HT now - more and more of the Primary Schools in our borough are becoming federations with 2 or more schools sharing the one HT. Not a great plan.

Oh dear, AP - that is not good timing.

And poor DD, Littleham.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/04/2015 21:21

Sugar - hope the tutor can help your DD find ways to stay calm.

DD is rightfully chuffed this evening - her electronics controlled assessment (the Blue Box mentioned upthread) has been marked as 100%, so that's 60% of a gcse in the bag! She did put a heck of a lot of effort into it. Grin

SugarPlumTree · 15/04/2015 14:54

That is absolutely amazing Errol, a huge well done to her Smile

Ginandtonictime · 15/04/2015 15:04

Epic result Errol - it can be done!

TheWordFactory · 15/04/2015 15:07

Blue-Box-Tastic Grin.

Littleham · 15/04/2015 15:07

Well done to mini Errol. Star What does the mysterious blue box do?

TheWordFactory · 15/04/2015 15:08

That's exactly what I was wondering little.

Fairenuff · 15/04/2015 16:19

Haha me too, sounds amazing though, well done to your dd Errol.

dingit · 15/04/2015 16:41

Well done to your dd Errol, I seem to remember you saying on the old thread that she put in loads of work.

bigTillyMint · 15/04/2015 16:45

Excellent news ErrolFlowers

ErrolTheDragon · 15/04/2015 17:07

It's a money box, which sets off an alarm (sound and lights) if anyone sticks their mitts in without having first turned it off (switch cunningly hidden underneath). Apart from the electronics, the way it all fits together (inner and outer shell with the electronics between) is pretty neat.

HSMMaCM · 16/04/2015 13:29

So ... We're returning the prom dress today and have ordered another off the internet hope it fits

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 16/04/2015 14:18

HSM, DD hasn't done anything about a prom dress yet - I think she has 3 or 4 weeks after the last exam to find one, so should be OK I hope!

dingit · 16/04/2015 14:32

I hope dds still fits. I mentioned it the other day, and she said are you saying I've got fat? She hasn't, but it's quite fitted, so I hope her boobs haven't grown! Delicate subject!

TeenAndTween · 16/04/2015 16:42

HSM - hope she likes the new one!

I'm fed up with revision, but only 8 weeks until exams are over (help!).

bigTillyMint · 16/04/2015 16:54

T&T, I was consoling myself this morning calculating only 8 1/2 more weeksSmile

SugarPlumTree · 16/04/2015 17:50

That makes me smile but feel a little sick all at the same time !!

I am distracting myself from reality with the garden. In years to come the new flower beds and plants will remind me of GCSE'S - guess need to wait until August to know if that is a good thing or not .

ErrolTheDragon · 16/04/2015 18:14

sugar - gardening is always a good thing. I've got more done than usual myself recently, because of DD being chained to her desk.

I think she's doing a U3 physics paper at the moment - DH was talking to me from a room next to hers and I think he got shouted at.

SugarPlumTree · 16/04/2015 18:28

Your DD is very impressive Errol. DD didn't finish the Maths paper she was dong last night until 11pm so is really tired today. I'd gone to bed and hadn't realised what she was doing, will need to keep an eye on her and make sure she starts at a more sensible time in future.

I gardened my way through Mum's Dementia diagnosis, really helped. All the sun has brought the tulips out much quicker than I expected, lovely to see them.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/04/2015 19:27

Turns out she was working on her (last, hurrah!) german written CA. Her teacher apparently always says she hasn't written enough. So she's written it really small on close-lined paper, with the intention of then just copying it out larger in class. I'm not entirely sure if she's serious about this or not!

TeenAndTween · 16/04/2015 19:33

Errol She should know the expected word count. Just get her to count it! (AQA MFL they are meant to write 250-350 words I think, I make sure DD has written at least 300).
