No not a holiday with revision!

So I decided to wade through the long list of exams we have been given but it's not obvious which ones DD doing in some cases and I still couldn't see the IGCSE English on there. Had a poke around and think that might be May 5th - very much hoping I am wrong!

Really wanting her proper timetable now as feel the need to know when they all are. They said after Easter so fingers crossed this week. Also hope the mock results are back this week.

It has just occurred to me that DS is away with school for a couple of nights in May so need to not let that creep up on me too fast.

SugarPlumTree · 12/04/2015 09:43

On closer examination of the long exam list it does in fact look like English IGCSE is cunningly disguised at top of sheet on 5 and 8 May. I have urge to run around d the house shouting 'don't panic at the top of my voice ' but am going to put the kettle on instead. Rest of the house seem to be asleep still on last lie in of thd holiday.

dingit · 12/04/2015 10:09

Yep, dd has her Igcse English then too Sugar. Then a bit of a gap.
It seems when I panic, she doesn't, and vice versa.
Her worst week to me is triple science in the last week.

SugarPlumTree · 12/04/2015 10:24

Ohhh, so no chance I'm wrong then! Would have been helpful if it had been labelled English on the list really. She has 5,8,11,12,15,19 May then from what I can see then a gap.

bigTillyMint · 12/04/2015 11:22

DD's IGCSE isn't on those dates. She is doing Edexel - is that different to the ones yours are doing?
Her worst day is 12th May when she has French Listening and Reading and B2 and B3 I think.

She has said she is taking today off as she has to go in tomorrow even though it's an Inset day.

SugarPlumTree · 12/04/2015 11:34

It's the Cambridge IGCSE DD is doing. That sounds like a heavy day for her on the 12th. Guess it will be good to get that over with early on.

No sign of DD as yet. The pressure definitely starting get to her again I noticed yesterday . That means I need to exude super chilled vibes so we're putting up the garden swing seat thingy and I'm going to sit out with a book for a bit and chill (well that's the plan).

OddBoots · 12/04/2015 15:35

It's a shame no-one else is doing the NCS although I can totally understand why. DS's gives over results day too but as that is one of the local weeks not an away week I am hopefully he will be able to go and get his results.

I have just been working on a revision timetable with DS, he is happy to do the work but struggles to get himself organised so it's a combined effort to plan.

DS only has one exam clash, both are AM exams and he has no PM that day so he should be okay with a brief supervised break between.

SugarPlumTree · 12/04/2015 15:51

My friend's DS did it last summer amd now has to repeat it this summer for College' even though he has already done it for some strange reason. He enjoyed it.

TeenAndTween · 12/04/2015 17:10

Have spent a fun 45 minutes this afternoon, trying to convince a reluctant DD that if an object is moving at constant velocity there is no resultant force, even if it is going upwards.

Oh, also that if you throw a ball up into the air it slows down.

She needs to accept that I and Newton are right, even if she doesn't know why!

I have told her only 9 more weeks of physics, and to go with the flow, but she's hard to convince.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/04/2015 23:47

Alarm set for 6:25, back to school routine. DD did a eng Lang paper this morning which I was pleased about. Yesterday she did her volunteering so she got some sunlight and a bit of physical activity.

dingit · 13/04/2015 06:49

Back to school for dd today too.
We ended the holiday on a high, in London doing the Shaun the Sheep trail!
Art exam tomorrow.

SugarPlumTree · 13/04/2015 07:00

Hope the art goes well Dingit.

DD tells me she failed to hand in her darkroom work at the end of last term before the deadline. Or she may have lost it, I'm not clear which. Trying to be philosophical and somewhere in my mind preparing for the fact she might have to have another level 2 year. Really not looking forward to results day.

bigTillyMint · 13/04/2015 07:29

Good Luck on the art dingit.

SugarPlum, it will be an internal deadline, so she still has time to find it and hand it in. She won't be the only one - I have RL friends with DC who haven't completed coursework/CA's yet and DD may have to redo some ICTFlowers

dingit · 13/04/2015 07:35

I was just about to say the same as Tilly. I bet it's just the schools deadline, and loads of others haven't handed work in.

I hope we are all going to hand hold on results day. Tilly are you back from your holiday? We arrive back on 15th. I'm hoping my piles of washing will keep me busy! And it's ds' birthday on 16th.
Dh reckons he is going to work from home on results day. Let's hope its worth it!

bigTillyMint · 13/04/2015 07:49

Yes, we come back the 15th or 16th too. At least his birthday is before the results!
If DD gets what she needs, she will need to dash to the other local comp to register for sixth form as it seems to be first come, first served thereShock!

SugarPlumTree · 13/04/2015 07:52

I am hugely glad you both said that as was hoping that might be the case but didn't dare hope that. Didn't say anything to DD before but have now. However impressed on DD that coming home without seeing photography teacher is not an option.

SugarPlumTree · 13/04/2015 08:04

So early start for you on results day then BTM, that adds another layer of stress to the whole proceedings.

Everyone very grumpy here this morning, I had woken up in an ok mood until DS's deep sighs penetrated into my consciousness, DD stressing when I stressed she must see photography teacher and DH running round looking for clean trousers (the latter was slightly amusing).

ErrolTheDragon · 13/04/2015 08:22

Our summer hols were definitely planned so that we'd be home for results day! As DD's school is 20-odd miles up the road I guess we have to take her there and then lurk unobtrusively while the girls squeal/cry or whatever with each other.

HSMMaCM · 13/04/2015 09:00

Errol we will have to drive DD to school as well and then pretend we're not there . The brightly coloured revision table on her bedroom wall has not been referred to very much, but we took her and a friend to the beach at the weekend and hopefully her revision energy will be recharged today.

Ginandtonictime · 13/04/2015 09:24

We have a wall calendar in the kitchen, and I've coloured 20th August entirely red ... each member of the family (including DH) has asked me what the red day is? - que thunderous crack of doom: RESULTS DAY!!!

Ginandtonictime · 13/04/2015 09:24

SugarPlumTree · 13/04/2015 11:03

Think I will drive DD and go for a dog walk on the field behind or something.

I'm not the only who was totally unaware that the English is 5 and 8 May. My poor Friemd has triplets, one is resitting the English whilst others are doing AS. She visibly paled when I said this morning about the English this mornng and saud she might need tonresort to drugs at this rate !

I've just been trying to cobble together a timetable from what we have. If DD doing AQQ Additional science, is that likely to be Unit 2 ? My thinking is Unit 1 is core an unit 3 is triple and there are the three separate papers for Additional as there were for Core (which she got a D in last year and I am spitting that she is doing Additional instead of resitting but let's not go there)

Also is any one else's child doing AQA photography ? I can't find an exam date. Finally could I check the dates for AQA English Lit please? So sorry about this. I am really cross I'm having to scrabble around like this, first exam is 3 weeks tomorrow.

dingit · 13/04/2015 11:06

Dd will be able to walk up to school for her results, I'm not sure if we will go with her. However if the first letter of the alphabet occurs enough and in the right places, we have to whisk her 5 miles up the road by 11.30 to accept her selective academy place!
I can't tell you how many times I've dreamt of the different outcomes!

ErrolTheDragon · 13/04/2015 11:35

sugar - you're sure that there isn't a timetable on her school's website somewhere? I don't think we were told about the one on my DD's. Anyway, mine is doing AQA for her Eng lit, her exams are May 18th and 22nd for that.

I believe you're right that for the AQA science U1 is core, U2 is additional (so those together comprise 'double science') and U3 is if they're doing triple science. DD was complaining a bit that they rather oddly have the U2 and U3 together before the halfterm and then the U1 after the break. (for biol and physics anyway, for some reason they're doing an igcse for chemistry). That really does seem rather arse about face.

auntpetunia · 13/04/2015 12:51

Good luck to everyone back today , another week off here. DS has been methodical and organised (2 words I would never thought I would say about my dyslexic and dyspraxic son!) With his revision. In school last week when they had planned lessons this weekend he's done 2 hr sessions each day and had just told me he plans to do the same this week. He was climbing yesterday so had plenty of exercise and hes just gone the shops for milk for me, his plan is read his notes for an hour them do either a past paper on line or bitesize questions. I don't want o push it as he does really seem to know what he is doing.

We got an individual plan for the exams wiTh all his exams on at the end of last term so I know what he's got to do when and which exam board he's working with. Results day I haven't even discussed with him, I imagine he'll walk up on his own I really doubt he'll want us around. Might go to my friends who lives next door to the school to be on hand of needed. He'll have been back from Japan for about 8 days by that point and the hoy was laughing saying she wanted him in all the pictures with his tan!
