Meant to thank those that commented on the part time job aspect.
Time management not something that comes easy to DD1, but the busier she is, the more she seems to get done. Less time seems to get wasted when you have less spare time.

Forgot it was a separate UCAS question too, think she originally put basic details in in July, so will need to go back over and re-read, as things have changed.

MrsBartlet · 13/11/2014 18:04

Well done to your ds rabbit - you should indeed be very proud of him.

Yay horsemad! Maybe my dd and your ds will end up at Warwick together!

mumslife - 5 offers before Christmas - amazing! Well done to your dd!

Waitingaround · 13/11/2014 18:06

That is brilliant news horsemad Smile
I'm sure your Ds will be fine mrsmineva but perhaps you could do a couple of practice interviews with him at home?

Horsemad · 13/11/2014 18:07

Ha ha Littleham! If he gets one from ICL I really WILL believe in Father Christmas, and The Tooth Fairy, etc! Grin Grin

msminerva · 13/11/2014 18:44

Fantastic Horsemad, DS never even considered risking applying to Warwick as his AS grades are not stellar, you have won your bet in style! Waiting around I would not have the first clue about a Comp Sci interview which is why I am hoping school will help. DS has offers from Lancaster and Liverpool, still waiting to hear from Exeter.

Horsemad · 13/11/2014 19:25

MsMinerva, I'm amazed he got an offer from Warwick tbh; his AS grades were not as good as they should have been.

YayWine well done everyone with offers seems another fruitful day on this thread today, mumslife you've passed the UCAS finishing post Grin, in record time too. Horsemad I'm guessing Warwick offer is like the icing on the cake Cake. So much positivity on here I'm feeling the love Smile rabbit your dd is a inspiration brings a tear to my eye to hear him triumph over the struggles he has had, proud mum Thanks

polkadottyme · 13/11/2014 20:08

Mumslife - dd still on a lonely 1 offer but she's still excited with the wait???

MrsBartlet · 13/11/2014 20:22

3 offers here so far mumslife but the two we are waiting for are Cambridge (so she would have to have an interview before she could get an offer) and Durham who are notoriously slow.

Mindgone · 13/11/2014 20:56

Big well done to all with DC with offers, and those overcoming difficulties! As others have said, this is a lovely, safe, heartwarming place to share this ucas journey! I love the support and kindness on here! Flowers Cake Wine

seimum · 13/11/2014 23:04

DS's application sent off by his school today, so the waiting starts now.
I may be fretting, he is totally laid back.

Antaresisastar · 14/11/2014 08:58

Can I join you please?
Ds's UCAS form went off last Friday, he had an offer from Exeter on Tuesday. He's delighted as it is his favourite, just needs to get the grades now!

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 14/11/2014 09:29

So many people with offers from Exeter. Could you all please ensure you drum it into your DCs heads that should they find themselves walking down residential streets around midnight or later after a night at the lemongrove whispering is the correct mode of conversation? Rather than shouting? And that attempting to walk down the hill on the roofs of the vehicles parked there Never Ends Well? Grin

AtiaoftheJulii · 14/11/2014 09:32

Fantastic for him :) What subject? And was the offer in line with what they say it will be on the website?

And welcome to the thread :) This is the place you can come to do all your worrying so we can present a calm encouraging persona to our dc!

Littleham · 14/11/2014 09:45

Welcome Antaresisastar - well done to your ds on his favourite offer. What subject has he applied for?

Hi seimum - I bet you are relieved the application has gone. Smile

Rabbit - will tell my dd to whisper if she ends up at Exeter.

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 14/11/2014 09:57

Littleham - if it's before 11pm she can yell as loud as she wants! Grin

webwiz · 14/11/2014 09:59

I haven't looked in here for a few days and gosh its been busy! Well done to all those with new offers.

DS still just has the York offer but he got an email from Exeter saying sorry for the delay but they are still considering him and will have definitely have made a decision by 7th Jan so not sure what's going on there. He's finally sent all the written work into Cambridge so the stress levels are quite high at the moment waiting to see if he gets an interview. Hopefully he'll find out next week.

MrsBartlet · 14/11/2014 10:46

I know how you feel webwiz - dd got a postcard back from Emmanuel saying that they have received her essays, so all we can do is wait -aaargh!

Weird about Exeter. Perhaps they are considering just how many A*s they can ask him for Wink

Antaresisastar · 14/11/2014 11:28

Thanks for the warm welcome. His subject is Economics, offer is AAA which is in line with his predictions. He has friends who got the crazy 2xA offers so is v relieved.

Horsemad · 14/11/2014 14:41

Welcome seimum and Antaresisastar

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 14/11/2014 14:43

Economics there has always had crazy high offers. However - it is an incredibly well reputed department.

I think (but do not know for sure) that this is a magnificent result for your DD. It might be problematic if UEA was not her first choice - but if it is then she is in. It's the equivalent of the old EE offer for Oxbridge, music colleges etc. It's because they REALLY want her and fear she will go somewhere else. Birmingham made unconditional offers last year, for people who firmed them, for the kids they really wanted. I seem to remember at least two MNers whose kids received these. I'm not sure if either accepted the offer though. I don't know how it works with track, and I'd ring them just to confirm that you haven't developed selective word blindness or similar - but if it's genuine then she can start arranging accommodation etc now. Even if she decides that actually, she prefers Cardiff or Royal Holloway or one of the others (sorry, I can't remember her other choices) this will be SUCH a confidence boost for her. As Sally Field once memorably said (sort of) at the Oscars - they REALLY like her. Massive congratulations. Wine
