Is there a hand holding thread for Y11 parents and GCSE results yet?

DD is waiting on GCSE results next Thursday.

She is bouncing around being a teen on Summer holidays (she is off in Ireland for a week with her friend's family)

I am beginning to feel a bit sick.

She is hoping to stay at school and do A-levels, but now the results are getting closer I'm a bit concerned we don't have a back up plan.

How are the rest of you doing?

Oh dear lord. It is tomorrow. It seemed so far away and now all of a sudden it is here! Good luck to everyone.

Capitola · 20/08/2014 20:01

Good luck everyone.

marymoocow · 20/08/2014 21:16

Back home from holiday today especially for tomorrow. DS seems fine, I'm trying not to think about itConfused . English is our big worry here. I'm driving DS in, he's looking at them in the car, and then deciding the rest of the day from there! In 12 hours time all will be known...

Leeds2 · 20/08/2014 21:46

Good Luck to everyone, whatever they are hoping to achieve.

mygrandchildrenrock · 20/08/2014 22:17

Let's hope all of us and our children are happy with the results or if not happy satisfied with them.

mrsmaturin · 20/08/2014 23:04

56 minutes and it's results day.......think happy thoughts

MumTryingHerBest · 20/08/2014 23:11

I have a few years until I have to face this nightmare (11 plus next year). Massive hugs to everyone xx

mummymeister · 20/08/2014 23:34

was thinking that if I stayed up I would feel better - not a chance. she is so worried bless her. cant bear it. might need a little something to help me sleep so getting the cocoa ready.

MorvahRising · 20/08/2014 23:37

Awake and worrying . . . it's maths we're worrying about. DS wants to try for Oxbridge and he really needs a good result in maths, at which he is perfectly good but not confident, and if he does badly he'll be considerably less confident . . . oh dear. I'm in bed so can't even have a glass of wine.

halfthewaytothemoon · 21/08/2014 00:15

for those sad enough to check AQA have also uploaded this years grade boundaries on their website

ElephantsNeverForgive · 21/08/2014 00:17

Good luck everyone!

sausagedog12 · 21/08/2014 05:12

Good luck everyone. Hope it's not as bad as the headlines are saying! Hmm

Marni23 · 21/08/2014 05:41

Morning all! The day has dawned...hope everyone gets what they want/deserve. I am now officially bricking it...

antimatter · 21/08/2014 05:55

only 4 hours to go!

Dunlurking · 21/08/2014 06:25

Morning.

2 hours til we set off. Ds wants me to wake him in an hour. It will be the earliest he's been up since the exams Hmm. Really wish we had something nice to look forward to as the family have had a rotten year and poor exam results would top that off. Think he and I will have to go for Cake and Brew somewhere after. I will be thinking of you all.

Good luck.

bucksmum71 · 21/08/2014 06:32

DS up and walking around - fingers crossed everyone !

CatherineofMumbles · 21/08/2014 06:40

DS is still in bed, but logged on to the school portal to see if results up, and they are! Relieved, DS has got all his predictions Smile.
Surprised to see they also give raw marks - in my (ancient) days it was just grades...
Best of luck to all of you going into schools - be sure to report back - especially Bacon!

ijustwanttobeme · 21/08/2014 06:52

DS needs 5Bs including English Lit and Music to continue to A levels at 6th form.

Has a back up offer to do BTec level 3 but he's not that keen.

Am concerned about grade changes following the AS and A2 results, as DS was always a B/C student and so his grades may drop down to C/D.

I know it's not all always about the grades but let's be honest on 21/8 it will be :(

Gumdrop · 21/08/2014 07:03

My parents are going into school as we are away and there is nothing as sophisticated as portals at our school. Dd1 has been up for 2 hours and gone for run already.

There appear to be two other families where we are also waiting for GSCE results. We all look a bit strained this morning.

fatowl · 21/08/2014 07:15

Thinking of everyone this morning, going to wake dd up now.
According to our school, we can phone from 7am, and the results are available from 9am on the website.
We are away so can't go in, bet we can't get through to the school- my money is then having one person answering the phone and chatting away to a parent who wants to discuss their precious snowflake in detail.

One A*. One A. Seven Bs. One C. And one D. Three hours ahead of you lot. Came on email. No sign of child.

MorvahRising · 21/08/2014 07:20

DS still asleep, I'm wide awake and feeling horrendously nervous!

Well done to your DS Catherine

Good luck everyone . . . . honestly I feel worse than I did when I was waiting for my own O level results . . . .

NapoleonsNose · 21/08/2014 07:26

DD still dead to the world. We are picking her friend up and going to the school for 10.30. How I'm going to remain calm for another three hours, I have no idea. I'm up and have got that horrible butterfly feeling in my tummy. Far more nervous than when I got mine. Good luck to all still waiting and well done to those who already know!

Cocolepew · 21/08/2014 07:29

Good luck to everyone, I could vomit.
