OCR double chemistry was 'good' not that it contained much science. She wasn't sure what the point of the question that gave all the answers on Pg. 2 was. (About copper mines).

But DD is in the wrong science set so it's all a bit of a farce.

RE philosophy tomorrow, then physics, maths and End!!!!!!

Dunlurking · 10/06/2014 19:13

nostress that's exactly how my ds put it. Thanks for the support MrsMaturin, Coconutty and everyone on here! Fingers crossed for them all that it all works out in the end.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 10/06/2014 19:17

Physics today. A big pile of poo, opined Dd. Oh. Sad

Leeds2 · 10/06/2014 19:44

DD has RS (Mark's Gospel) tomorrow.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 10/06/2014 20:12

DS1 thought OCR Chemistry went well today. He said some of the questions were quite hard but he thinks he did well on them. Better than last weeks Biology which was his worst exam to date. Sad

He's got Physics on Thurs then all three sciences and 2 further maths GCSE exams next week and the following Monday. Doesn't finish until the 23rd!

TweeAintMee · 10/06/2014 20:23

Today he had Chemistry (iEdexcel) and said it was really hard with some impossible questions that he couldn't do. (not surprised after the attitude of not needing to do any revision) Flipping grim mood to deal with. Physics on Thursday.

3littlefrogs · 10/06/2014 21:08

Yes - the copper mines question was peculiar.
All the information given in the question paper Confused.
I always worry in case the point has been missed somewhere...

eatyourveg · 10/06/2014 21:28

Additional OCR here which ds said was the worst of the sciences so far, took him too long to figure out the language in each question. Sad

hellsbells99 · 10/06/2014 23:26

Leeds2 - DD's chemistry was the AQA Gcse.

Nocomet · 11/06/2014 07:49

Question language is a problem.

DD says they have had whole lessons on the difference between 'describe' and ''explain'

Best1sWest · 11/06/2014 07:55

Media Studies today and the only one he has a hope of getting an A/A* in. This is his favourite and best subject and what he wants to do. I know it's a subject much disparaged by many but I think it's really interesting and an extension of English in many ways.

Nocomet · 11/06/2014 08:29

Here's hoping for nice questions for him.

DD wants to do something biology based so fingers crossed for science/maths and art here.

Arts nothing to do with career plans, it's just she's doing art not maths A level due to "a need to stay sane"

She says that there is only so much learning and facts her brain can take before it has to do something else!

LIZS · 11/06/2014 08:33

Philosophy here today .

Best1sWest · 11/06/2014 08:59

Good for her Nocomet. She does seem to have her head screwed on. It's so important to do something you really enjoy doing as an alternative.

Marni23 · 11/06/2014 08:59

RS here. Good luck all.

eatyourveg · 11/06/2014 10:05

Philosophy here too this afternoon although the revision just seems to be tomorrow's last science paper, can sense a major panic but I'm keeping quiet lest he explodes.

Head of Maths sent home a long table yesterday with a prediction for Fridays paper (edexcel) from the mathswatch people. Not sure how much to trust it despite the obvious caveat, the letter claims they are usually right. Anyone else ever had something similar through?

Dropping off all the uniform today for the second hand shop (lest the colours tie and the school scarf) quite emotional cutting out all the cash nametapes. Found tons of sports socks, where were they all when they were needed?

Best1sWest · 11/06/2014 10:11

DS school uniform will be only fit for the bin I suspect. All his shirts have got paint on them somewhere and he sucks the necks of his jumpers when I am not looking. P E kit will be ok though as he hasn't been able to do that this year due to his back.

marymoocow · 11/06/2014 11:06

R.E. philosophy here too this afternoon, and yet equally we are revising for physics tomorrow. Smile The end is in sight. Really proud of whatever he does as he has had to cope with me having major surgery in the middle of it all, and finally learning how to make his mum a decent cup of teaGrin Grin Grin

Nocomet · 11/06/2014 14:23

DD1 has always had her head screwed on.

Trouble is it took untill she was 14 for her to control the dizzy, socially inept, dyslexic outer layer the world sees. Also it took until late in Y9 for her peers to grow up enough to accept her quirks and all.

Her younger, sociable, more obviously academic younger sister is actually far less confident and far more likely to get stressed by exams and panic.

Nocomet · 11/06/2014 14:25

mary I remember you saying you had to go into hospital, I hope your recovering well.

Tea is going to be a problem when DD1 leaves home, DD2 doesn't like it (and she's not one to do favours unless she gets a share).

RaspberryLemonPavlova · 11/06/2014 15:14

DS1 has 2 younger siblings so uniform will be 'recycled' here.

Lots of Italian revision today, but we have just nipped out to try and find black shoes for Prom.

Turns out everyone is size 11 and has been buying black shoes. Managed to find some that 'will do' if we don't find anything else.

marymoocow · 11/06/2014 15:59

Recovering slowly but surely Nocomet thank youSmile . Hoovering and dusting are on his agenda for next week. Well I've got to fill his time up with somethingGrin . Thinking about an ironing lesson maybe the week afterHmm .

eatyourveg · 11/06/2014 16:07

Just back from school and passed ds's mates walking into town, laughing and swaggering around which made me hopeful philosophy had been a good one. Then got to school and no sign of ds which made me think perhaps it wasn't so good because he must be using every second of his extra time.

Ds eventually appeared, threw himself in the car and said "Thank God its done, can we just go home please?" Says the second half was tougher than the first (his mates only did the first hour for the short course hence the happy smiley faces) and the whole of the second half was "waffling" what he called "common sense stuff" because he didn't know what else to put.Sad

TweeAintMee · 11/06/2014 20:54

marymoocow - please wave your wand over my son. Can't imagine his face if I suggested these whenever he needs a 'break' from revision. Mind you if he cleaned during all his breaks, the house would be sparkling. Grin
