Are you ready? What's everyone got planned for Thursday? I'm going to my school to check on results, then wait for DD to call me from her school, with her news.

It's going to be an emotional day! Possibly not personally with DD, not expecting any top results, but she does already has Maths and English in the bag. She had what she needs to move forward and that's all that matters.

I have another 120 kids at my school and one or two who I care very much about. Can't wait to be there for them.

Morning all. Congrats to Empire''s DD. Impressed how early you got them.

DD is up and quiverring all over. Going to mert friends then to pick up the results at about 9.30.

She also needs to pick up all her art so i'll probably have to go and collect as theres a massive amount.

MaureenMLove · 23/08/2012 08:02

Morning all!

It's just occurred to me, that my very first post on MN, was about waiting nervously for 11 Plus results! Grin Oh how I wish I knew then, that 11 plus was the least of my worries!

happilyconfused - there will be no 'my fabulous kid got 25 A*s' on this thread! At least I hope not, or I'm off! Grin I thnk I'll crack open the champers if DD gets a C in French!

Poor DD has just gone to mert her friends. She's a wibbly wreck. I fer sick.

GetDownNesbitt · 23/08/2012 08:12

English teacher here - not as bad as I might have been led to believe. Off to hold some childrens' hands in a bit as they open their envelopes.

Champneys · 23/08/2012 08:15

GetDown - that is good news for your lot Smile

which board out of interest?

Shanghaidiva · 23/08/2012 08:17

My DS got an A* in German - am really proud of him.
Just the one result as he took it early.

Good luck to everyone.

GetDownNesbitt · 23/08/2012 08:19

Edexcel champneys

It's not fantastic, mind - but not as catastrophic as the news on the radio every five minutes suggests.

Champneys · 23/08/2012 08:21

oh thanks, now need to find out which one DS did.

BringBack1996 · 23/08/2012 08:22

Congratulations to all who have already found out! Only two hours to go now - I am officially bricking it.

MrsCobbit · 23/08/2012 08:22

Thanks GetDownNesbitt - that's helpful. DS1 is banking on a good English grade and indications about Maths?

GetDownNesbitt · 23/08/2012 08:25

Our Maths looks OK.

Will be around later...

mysteryfairy · 23/08/2012 08:26

I'm in such a state now not sure I am safe to drive 15 miles to school - will really have to focus. DS1 has all his stuff ready to go straight on to Leeds festival. So hope he doesn't get bad news that means we have to stay at school renegotiating a level choices instead of him being able to go off happy.

MaureenMLove · 23/08/2012 08:38

OK. Waterproof mascara needed today. The suspense is killing me! One hour until I go to school.

I left a note for DD last night, giving household duty instructions and £10. I wrote, 'money for you - unless you screw up, then I'll have it back. LOL! x'

Her and her mates slept downstairs, so she's looked at it over night. She's added, 'I'll leave it there then, shall I?' Grin

Oh god. I can't concentrate on anything. I wish we could just get it over with. I will be thrilled if ds gets a C in French too. He was borderline B in English but he probably won't get that now. I actually don't want to read about it because it will make me feel worse I think.

alistron1 · 23/08/2012 08:55

DD1 (Y10) collects 5 of hers this morning. Maths, Art, ICT, Product Design and History. She's going at 11. She's worried about ICT.

DP got his schools science results yesterday - in line with what he predicited so for science candidates there shouldn't be any big surprises.

Good luck everyone!

GetOrfMoiUsain · 23/08/2012 08:57

Sitting here next to dd on the sofa, both really nervous!

We are watching repeats of The Only Way is Essex to distract ourselves Hmm

Good luck everyone!

Fingers crossed for our kids

I can't believe this is a GCSE thread. Like you maureen my first posts on mumsnet were when dd was in year 6!

UmmOfUmbridge · 23/08/2012 08:59

Ahhhh ds still asleep..., bloody kids! They can collect between 8.30 - 12!

MrsCobbit · 23/08/2012 09:00

Ditto GetOrfMoiUsain. Found Mumsnet when looking for 11 plus advice. If I'd known then what I know now........

TheOneWithTheHair · 23/08/2012 09:01

Shock Wake him up Umm!

UmmOfUmbridge · 23/08/2012 09:08

I did! He wants to go about 11... I said 'no ASAP as babies will be napping then'. Hmm
He's a laid back freak!!!
Im totally restless - need to know but don't think he's that bothered! Well he is a bit, just not enough to get his arse out of bed.

He should be fine in all subjects apart from maths - borderline C/D :(

VoldemortsNipple · 23/08/2012 09:10

DD is up and banging around, she can collect her results after 10am.

I'm waiting for her to leave bake her a cake and take my mind off it.

I have images of me texting her in 2 minute intervals after she leaves the house...
Have you got them yet...
Have you got them yet...
Have you got them yet...

BringBack1996 · 23/08/2012 09:12

Ooh look Maureen, this thread's made the discussions of the day!

magentadreamer · 23/08/2012 09:14

Yr10's at DD's school can go in at 12pm. DD rang me at 7am, she'd seen the news and said you know I've failed the English exams don't you? I've told her that she can always re sit and what ever happens I will always be proud of her. I am not hopeful about English but am hoping that she has done well in her Yr10 option subject and the other modules she sat.

Good luck to all - I will be checking back later to see how they've all done.

TheOneWithTheHair · 23/08/2012 09:15

I don't think I'd stay calm Umm.

Ds is still in bed but he can't collect until 10. I am going to get him up in a few minutes.
