Are you ready? What's everyone got planned for Thursday? I'm going to my school to check on results, then wait for DD to call me from her school, with her news.

It's going to be an emotional day! Possibly not personally with DD, not expecting any top results, but she does already has Maths and English in the bag. She had what she needs to move forward and that's all that matters.

I have another 120 kids at my school and one or two who I care very much about. Can't wait to be there for them.

Good luck all :)

LineRunner · 22/08/2012 23:14

I might watch a film. I might eat all those meals I made earlier.

VoldemortsNipple · 22/08/2012 23:16

After reading through the whole thread Im swaying between being blissfully ignorant about grade boundaries and going into nervous hysterics.

DD has gone to bed assuring me that being nervous is a waste of time as the results are already in. We just don't know them yet. :o

cardibach · 22/08/2012 23:16

I might have another drink.

BringBack1996 · 22/08/2012 23:20

DS is asleep :o

Can't quite believe that as normally I can hear him on his laptop past midnight. Hopefully this doesn't mean he'll be up pacing at 6 in the morning..

VoldemortsNipple · 22/08/2012 23:31

DD has just looked what grades she needs for the courses she wants to do next term.

She is slighty worried about Spanish because the final exam was so hard. She needs a B.

The other subjects are asking for C or above and she feels she should have at least Cs.

I'm off to bed now to try and sleep and come up with a way to treat her for her hardish work :o

Itchyandscratchy · 22/08/2012 23:32

I've started another thread, but in case you haven't seen it, ths blog is useful in making the situation re.Eng Lang GCSE clear.

cardibach · 22/08/2012 23:32

DD watching crap surfing film with me and friend. All yawning but the thought of bed is stressful.

webwiz · 22/08/2012 23:38

Very sad Itchy that students hard work could be wiped out by political interference. DS is in year 10 and has taken AQA English Language GCSE this year - he's lucky as he'll get a chance to resit in Jan if he needs and he isn't a D/C borderline. Its seems really unfair to target this grade boundary - do they realise they are messing with children's futures just to push through more academies? It makes me feel sick reading about it Sad

happilyconfused · 22/08/2012 23:39

Cant sleep. If the idiot DS gets a C in French that will be a success. If he gets one A I will crack open the champagne.

Oh the shame!! Mumsnet will be full of 'my darling got 11 A* without opening a text book and will go to Oxford a year early on an unconditional offer'. Oh god - in spite of having master degrees etc DH and I have produced the street sweeper...

TheOneWithTheHair · 22/08/2012 23:39

I'm off to bed too. Night all and good luck. :)

cardibach · 22/08/2012 23:46

It will be full of the 346 A stories, happilyconfused* , but they won't all be true...

Mutteroo · 23/08/2012 04:24

I'm awake at 4am so must be nervous....or maybe it's excitement?

I guess it doesn't matter what grades theyre waiting for, it's a nerve wracking time. DS friend was round yesterday & I asked him what he needed to go to college & it's passes at grade E or above. The poor lad always struggled at school (been friends since reception) & I'm more nervous for him than my own child! Another of DS friends is hoping for A-A grades & will stay at his private school for retakes if he gets Bs in the subjects he wants for sixth form. My fabulous lad is hoping for an assortment of grades between A-C. Already has some B grades & an unconditional offer at the top local sixth form college. I hope he gets these but to be honest he took his foot off the pedal towards the end so there is a small worry...which is getting bigger the more I stay awake!

Going to try & sleep. Back after 11:30 with results ;-)

Champneys · 23/08/2012 06:00

MORNING ALL.

GetOrfMoiUsain · 23/08/2012 06:54

Dd is absolutely bricking it - she hasn't slept well at all and feel she has failed them all. She just said (we have been up since half 5) she doesn't want me to be disappointed.

She is not naturally academic and has worked so hard. Just read that thread about the drop in grades - thank god I haven't got the telly on if the news is reporting that.

I am going with her to school and then going to work after, and taking her out for a meal tonight whatever happens.

chickydoo · 23/08/2012 06:58

Well here we are.
Coffee is on.
Happy to share my bar of dairy milk.
Lots of deep breathing.

EmpireStateofMind · 23/08/2012 07:02

Phew. Results are in. All fine. No not all A* but she is very happy and relieved as am I. In two she did better in than she expected and in two she did worse than she expected, so it all evened itself out.

Champneys · 23/08/2012 07:03

Well done,!! how did you find them out at this hour Empire?

Champneys · 23/08/2012 07:05

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/1546785-THREAD-FOR-THE-GUTTED-ON-GCSE-RESULTS-DAY I have started a thread for those who wish to commiserate]]

Champneys · 23/08/2012 07:05

here

VoldemortsNipple · 23/08/2012 07:15

Morning all. I've had hardly any sleep, I kept waking up thinking B, C, A, C, D, B....
Just various grades swiming round and round my head.

Congrats to your DD empire :)

BeckAndCall · 23/08/2012 07:26

DD has to collect here's in person at 9.30 - just going to wake her up. It was certainly very late by the time she got to sleep........ Deep breath!

MrsCobbit · 23/08/2012 07:26

Is it morning? C/D borderline Maths here so expecting the worse, AQA English as well but he should be OK bar an unmitigated disaster, the rest will be mixed so I'm hoping the school accommodate us. Laughing at the street sweeper comment! Champney's will probably see you later on the gutted thread! It is too early for a drink - isn't it?

MrsCobbit · 23/08/2012 07:27

Congrats Empire - well done to your DD.

BringBack1996 · 23/08/2012 07:36

Morning all. DS has still not surfaced. I think I might go and make some pancakes to take my mind off everything!
