Nicola Sturgeon Home?

TwentytoTwelve · 29/09/2026 19:32

When she was first minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon was often interviewed by the press outside of her home.

I can remember feeling shocked at how small her house was. I think it was semi-detached.

And it looked like it was on a housing estate or just an ordinary house.

Now, there is obviously nothing wrong with this. It’s just that I assumed because she was such a high-ranking politician and had so much influence and notoriety she would’ve lived in a better and larger home with more security.

And I’m not even saying this in relation to the money that her husband allegedly laundered from the SNP. Just in general, I would expect such a politician to have a better house.

Why do you think this is?

Yes I’m a woman concerned about the erosion of women and girls’ rights. Why are you not?

sohard · 01/10/2026 06:31

Thanks for providing proof that she did indeed say she didn’t spend any time in her kitchen so was lying. Well done.

Yes, because as we all know, when someone says they "don't spend any time" in their kitchen, it's a literal statement of fact and what they actually mean is "I have never spent one millisecond in that particular room".

I mean, fuck, there is pedantry, and then there is being ridiculous just to attempt to make some ridiculous point.

Her actual words to the reporter interviewing her IN HER KITCHEN, complete with a photo of them both IN HER KITCHEN were that she doesn't spend A LOT of time in there.

😆

It's a perfectly common turn of phrase that any reasonable person takes to mean "I am not a typical homebody". If you insist it should be taken literally rather than figuratively, then you are either being deliberately obtuse, or presumably live in isolation in a cave somewhere.

Or both!

Bothwell is lovely, but she didn't live there. Semi in Uddingston, which is also lovely.

Its a detached house in Broomhouse which is near Uddingston.

Differentforgirls, hope you got some sleep last night? You’ve literally been up most of the night defending an ex politician. No opinion on NS personally but I do find it odd that she went so public regarding the location of her home, as that would be a security risk.
and I have no words for PM. He’s indefensible not “troubled”

Oh is it detached? My mistake.

There are some pretty vile and unpleasant posts on this thread.
I've never understood the level of hatred directed at Nicola. Unbelievable.

She’s just so crass. No class at all. I couldn’t get over that picture of her with her feet curled under her arse on the sofa, penning a letter to Theresa May asking for an Indy ref. Feet on a sofa that’s not ever hers! Grim. No decorum. No sense of occasion. Just scuzzy.

Woodeny · 01/10/2026 07:14

Then there’s the appalling treatment of women and girls. And lying about her personal life. And lying to the Alex Salmond investigation. And lying about what life after Indy would be like. And lying pretty much permanently. And so many Indy supporters turn a blind eye to these lies and expect us to do so too.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 01/10/2026 07:15

Like I said, gone nearly four years, and yet still living totally rent-free...

Woodeny · 01/10/2026 07:20

She doesn’t bother me. She’s just a down and out nobody. What she deserves. But she’s a symbol of all that’s wrong about the Indy movement, and everything that’s gone wrong with it.

For someone who allegedly doesn't bother you, don't you think it's rather odd to be pontificating on internet forums about how much they are still annoying you years after they ceased to have any political relevance?

I was not a fan of Theresa May, even less so Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, no time for Rishi Sunak, but I don't give them any more thought because they are historical personalities and not of any real contemporary significance. I certainly don't hang around on the internet wailing and gnashing my teeth about how awful they were, and then attempt to make out I actually don't care.

Yes she's moved to NottingHill!!

I believe one of the rules of misogyny MN Feminists are fond of quoting is "women are responsible for the behaviour of men".

Funny how this doesn't apply when the same people who oft quote it in the defence of a woman want to stick the boot into woman, or claim that a woman is very obviously guilty and complicit in the behaviour of a man, despite a years-long, hugely expensive and massively resourced police investigation determining otherwise.

FWIW, I lived with a partner for 20'odd years and in all that time we kept separate finances. There were undoubtedly things they bought I was unaware of, because I know there were plenty of purchases on my side they never knew about. But seemingly this is a total impossibility if one of the partners is NS, because she is apparently omniscient on this particular matter according to her MN detractors, but completely oblivious and incompetent in all other respects. Schrodinger's First Minister.

Oh no. We’re holding her accountable for her own obvious lies. HTH
