Nicola Sturgeon Home?

When she was first minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon was often interviewed by the press outside of her home.

I can remember feeling shocked at how small her house was. I think it was semi-detached.

And it looked like it was on a housing estate or just an ordinary house.

Now, there is obviously nothing wrong with this. It’s just that I assumed because she was such a high-ranking politician and had so much influence and notoriety she would’ve lived in a better and larger home with more security.

And I’m not even saying this in relation to the money that her husband allegedly laundered from the SNP. Just in general, I would expect such a politician to have a better house.

Why do you think this is?

I think what's odd about it is that most politicians don't advertise where they live by being interviewed in front of their house (and they also keep their home address off ballot papers etc). TBF, the bulk of the time that happened she wasn't really living there - she was at Bute House - but still a bit odd and if I was a neighbour it would have driven me nuts!

Jeremy did.

Optics

That was her place of work, not her home*

*Imo

Not Bute House then?

Have you watched "War Game"? I started watching it last night. I think she moved there to star in it.

Because pretending to be in a UK government doesn't at all contradict her position.

She didn't recruit herself. Btw, we live in the UK. Are you making a case for Indy? We actually do have MPs in the UK Govt. Are you saying we shouldn't have?

You've actually just said Scotland should have no say in a UK Government 🤔

This has been a conversation in Wales since the Senedd elections. Neither Northern Ireland nor Wales have official residences for their first ministers. It was a deliberate decision in Wales at the point of devolution. Rhys ap Iowerth’s family live in the family home in Anglesey and he bought a flat in Cardiff that he gets some operational costs towards, but he had to buy it himself! I prefer this and so should it remain, I don’t believe in grace and favour.

Ovasaurus · 30/09/2026 17:07

If the evening standard is to be believed, she lives on a canal boat in London.

Totally, it’s no one’s business where she lives now.

Annoys me NS lived/lives in a very cheap area of the country. We all need to pay a fortune for land tax as most other places are more expensive.

🤐

Ovasaurus · 30/09/2026 17:21

She posts selfies on the boat and documents her marathon training along the canal path. So she's kinda inviting the public into her life.

No, I'm asking why she would want to be part of a theoretical UK government.

In the case of a theoretical nuclear strike, she would surely want Scottish independence, neutrality, submarines out, signs everywhere saying Scotland was nuclear-free like we used to have in Brent and Sheffield in the Cold War.

Just a major quibble. He didn't "allegedly launder"it. He stole it. Hence why he is in prison.

She posted pictures on twitter of her kitchen at a family thing. While she was in it WITH HER FAMILY.

So you agree she was lying when she said she didn't ” spend any time in her kitchen"

Nicola sturgeon has been lying to everyone for over 20 years. She doesn’t live with her “husband” she lives with her female partner of 17+ years in a lovely house in the Scottish Borders. Her “husband” also has a male partner he lives with. The fake veneer of successful traditional couple is ridiculous when everyone knows about them!

Because despite it being a reality show, it’s not reality?! I’m Welsh and support devolution, and if someone paid me money to go on a reality TV show and pretend to be the UK Prime Minister I wouldn’t say no! It in no way conflicts with what I want for my home or my deeply held beliefs. Because it’s a TV show…

I’m not sure! I have seen the house and if not a new build it’s quite modern and I think they must have said where it was on the news? I’m hardly going to have made up something so random 🥴

They’re on the side of the old Glasgow zoo so not new new but very modern
