Sunnnyday · 25/05/2026 10:28

Peter Murrell is in court in Edinburgh today. This is for the preliminary hearing which was postponed from before the election. It will be interesting to see how the criminal proceedings proceed.

How can anyone possibly blame this embezzlement on Westminster? How?
And Sweeney has said that there was nothing wrong with the SNP financial systems, it was just that Murrell "bypassed" them. FGS

It’s the old chestnut “ Whataboutary” to hide behind

Lomonald · 26/05/2026 09:58

I have been reading the list of what he bought, I "lold : he paid £22 on a book of Nicola Sturgeons speeches,😂

She wasn’t “ cleared” the police decided not to charge her. She was deliberately “ unhelpful “ to the police. “ no comment” is fair enough however she had said she would cooperate fully with the police…

There's nothing the rabid Nats doesn't blame Westminster for.

Disgusting

It’s probably helpful for current leader John Swinney that the police have said 2010-2022 for the court case given he was leader 2000-2004 when Murrell became CEO.

There are a fair number of current SNP folks who were in senior positions through Murrell’s thieving period. If NS’s position as deputy leader then leader is assumed to have given her the opportunity to cover for him then presumably he’ll have needed the help of others in those positions, and the finance positions, to assist when she wasn’t.

I had to pop over to Gransnet to have a quick look on what the resident (most rabid) SNP supporter had to say and sure enough she’s blaming Westminster and still intends to carry on donating as do her friends and family. The hatred of the English and Westminster blinds them to reality. This is how Murrell and Sturgeon got away with it for so long. I think 400k is probably a conservative estimate and others had their snouts in the trough along with them.

which thread on gransnet?

Exactly. While saying in public she was fully cooperating with police enquiries, she sat there and said no comment to every question. She just lies and lies.

Not just being gay which I don’t think most people care about, but I have seen rumours and accusations of inappropriate behaviour and paying for sex but I don’t know if saying what rumours you’ve heard is allowed! Guess I will be deleted if not.

For some time now, I've seen reports on social media about inappropriate behaviour in and around conferences etc. Some have come from people who have left the SNP.

I was an SNP member, but was never at a conference or the like.

I was once given the 'opportunity' to 'meet Nicola' - during an election, when they canvassers realised that I was a school middle manager. (The Labour Party in the area already had a prominent former heidie...)

I declined. Thank God.

WearyAuldWumman · 26/05/2026 10:56

Too late to correct my typo.

The only one I found on Peter Murrell. Sorry I can’t be more helpful; I don’t go on there very often but I do remember one really goggle eyed woman who was always ranting re Scottish Nats and Westminster.

Helpmaboa · 26/05/2026 11:24

Marmaladeaddict · 26/05/2026 08:35

So why was she released?

The best way to be released without charge is to say nothing, always the legal advice

MyAutumnCrow · 26/05/2026 11:54

Political conferences are notorious for predatory behaviour involving older, senior male Party members and young male Party members especially those looking for intern roles. The Lib Dems have form too - I know for a fact the police had a look at some of the older members some years ago, but the youngsters wouldn’t give statements.

Some of the younger members are just teenagers, not always over 18.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 26/05/2026 12:21

I’ve just spent a happy couple of hours flicking through the full list of Murrell’s purchases.

Where the fuck did he put all this stuff? His house must have been like an Aladdin’s Cave of electricals, tools and kitchenware. He certainly loves his Le Creuset.

My favourites, though, were two Dyson hairdryers (about £350 each) bought seven months apart. The man’s as bald as an egg!

I loved the Lalique salt and pepper shakers! I mean, what else can you say to that other than 'no comment'?!

NS is so engrained in the Scottish establishment that people are willing to look the other way, and if she was implicated it would throw the doors wide open and expose many others in the SNP. Far easier and better for the party to pin the blame on one man - wonder what he's getting in return?

That might explain the PlayStations, X boxes and Grand Theft Auto games!

Quine0nline · 26/05/2026 13:47

Looking at the list it's all

The working class can kiss my erse
I've joined the (lower) middle class at last.

Surprised there isn't a hot tub in the list.

I suppose 100 years ago he would have bought solid silver fish knives.

That poster is bizarre - she is very much of the SNP cult and doesn't hear a bad word against them. Her love for Nicola was quite something to behold.

Edited

I reckon the SNP know too well that they’re a house of cards and if they can’t isolate Murrell’s crap it’ll show their push for Scottish independence for what it, at least partially, truly is - a power grab by a bunch of amateurs, flying by the seat of their pants 😅 no doubt there are well-meaning idealists in the mix, but there is absolutely no way a party who turned a blind eye to (and aggressively silenced reporting of) fund diversion wouldn’t have the same dogmatic approach towards, say, drawing up a new national audit manual or legislation.

So, instead, he’s anomaly. The SNP is the victim, and Peter is not a symptom of a wider problem. No way. FREEEEEDOOOMMMM etc 🫠

Helpmaboa · 26/05/2026 16:12

The way the cult is treating the whistleblower is awful too, that GN poster was on that too

Do tell us more!

There's honestly nothing more to tell. Sturgeon was coming to our county and the canvassers were keen to show that a local teacher supported independence, given that a former HT had been a Labour MP for the area.

I declined because I wasn't prepared to allow my position (such as it was) to be used for politics.

I later left the SNP when the two female MSPs for the county failed to speak up about the ridiculous policy then in place which allowed two male sex offenders from here to be placed in the female prison estate. One of them blithely ignored the fact that one of them had offended in her constituency.

ETA So far as the inappropriate behaviour is concerned, it was to do with a certain gentleman homing in on young men at conferences and the like.
