Peter Murrell is in court in Edinburgh today. This is for the preliminary hearing which was postponed from before the election. It will be interesting to see how the criminal proceedings proceed.

I think they make obviously hopeless attempts to ask for or demand a referendum once in a while to keep the gravy train moving along. Wouldn't want to have to look for a real job. If they'd been doing a fantastic job of running Scotland for the past 19 years, things would look very different.

I agree. I don't think any other Govt has ever had the luxury of being in power for 19 years and thus the opportunity to effect real and positive change. Instead, the SNP have run the country into the ground and have fannied about playing student politics with no repercussions whatsoever.

@SirChenjins but surely the quality of the opposition is at play here? Labour missed a trick when they went all guns blazing against indyref. Wendy Alexander said ‘bring it on’ and got a dressing down for that from the UK. Her gut feeling was probably right. I believe that was the nail in the coffin for Scottish Labour. They have never recovered.

The issue is that far more people want another Govt than don't, but the indy vote is focused which means we're stuck with the SNP.

Can you think of any way out of this never-ending downward spiral?

Until people stop focusing on indy and start walking up to the shitshow, I can't. It's just going to be more of the same crap ☹️

No. Look at this website. It’s predominantly educated women who post here, women who are well aware how shite public services here in Scotland are. How we can’t get ferries as and when we want, how school violence is soaring, how drugs deaths are a national embarrassment, how the government’s trans obsession is costing the nation millions in the courts, how the NHS is being run into the ground etc etc. Snd yet there will be some SNP shill along in a minute to explain that what we think is all wrong and that it’s all unicorns and rainbows, mistaking us for the sort of gormless idiots that give them their vote. Weesht for Indy wankers. Far too many Weesht for Indy wankers in Scotlands We need the unionists to unite around a single party and get the slimy corrupt shysters out once and for all.

There was a plan but the UK Government wouldn’t authorise the vote.

UK Government Veto (Section 30 Order): For the 2014 Referendum Westminster temporarily granted Holyrood the legal power to hold a vote via a Section 30 Order. However, subsequent Prime Ministers—from Boris Johnson to Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer—refused to approve another transfer of power.
Supreme Court Ruling: The Scottish Government attempted to bypass Westminster by referring a draft referendum bill to the UK Supreme Court. In November 2022, the court ruled unanimously that the constitution is a reserved matter and the Scottish Parliament does not have the authority to legislate for a referendum without UK approval.

Thank fuck

The SNP cult, the turkey’s voting for Christmas.

SNP are bad news for Scotland.

The only way forward is for the unionist parties to join together to defeat them.

No other party has had this long in power and they are a disaster.

How Sturgeon and Swinney aren’t on the hook I can’t understand.

On holiday so not much time to comment. But they would, wouldn’t they!

SirChenjins · 03/07/2026 09:43

Of course they have - they know what the inquiry would uncover, and it wouldn't be good for a number of them.

Cismyfatarse · 03/07/2026 10:21

Hopefully, Westminster will go ahead anyway. Plus, they can compel witnesses to testify under oath. So it should shake out the dodgy ones.

Sunnnyday · 03/07/2026 11:48

I'd certainly expect some of them to lie under oath.

Yes, because the SNP would absolutely tell the truth at a Westminster-driven inquiry...

TipsyLaird · 03/07/2026 12:40

I predict a case of mass amnesia, none of them will be able to recall even the major details. And - ooops - all the Whatsapps and emails have mysteriously been wiped!

Namingbaba · 03/07/2026 12:56

Having seen the email sent out to raise money for the referendum I don’t understand how that isn’t fraud? Surely there were two crimes. One Murrell and one misuse of the funds.

Otherlands · 03/07/2026 20:02

Well, given the official line is still Poor SNP, we’re the victims in all of this, I wouldn’t anticipate any semblance of self reflection or accountability.

Pete Wishart was on Nicky Campbell on 5 Live yesterday and it was the usual pompous, self righteous, blustering shite.
Why would I care what Pete Wishart thinks about Putin?
Just build a bloody ferry that can get me to and from Arran without being mired in corruption and sheer ineptitude.

The SNP have absolutely zero credibility on any subject.

I never thought I’d say it, but am a teeny bit sorry for N Sturgeon after these Daily Mail pics today - talk about unflattering.!

Nah, I know it's wrong of The Mail, but no I don't feel sorry for her.

TipsyLaird · 03/07/2026 21:09

She probably tipped them off that she'd be there.
